mittee appointed by the New Zealand Racing Conference,
upon being satisfied by evidence as to character and other-
wise that any person who, by reason of any conviction, comes
within the scope of this regulation should have relief from the
effect thereof, may grant exemption to any such person, and
may at any time revoke any such exemption without notice to
such person, and without assigning any reason for such
revocation.
The foregoing regulations of the Kaikoura Racing Club
were made and passed by such club on the 15th day of
December, 1923, and signed by the Chairman and Secretary.

PERSONAL.

NOTICE OF CHANGE OF SURNAME.

I, ROBERT FRASER, heretofore called and known by
the name of ROBERT FRIZZELL, Clerk of Court,
Wairoa, Hawke’s Bay, hereby give public notice that on the
11th day of December, 1923, I formally and absolutely
renounced, relinquished, and abandoned the use of my said
surname of Frizzell, and then assumed and adopted and
determined thenceforth on all occasions whatsoever to use
and subscribe the name of Fraser instead of the said name of
Frizzell. And I give further notice that, by a deed poll dated
the 11th day of December, 1923, duly executed and attested,
and enrolled in the Supreme Court of New Zealand, Canter-
bury District, at Christchurch, on the 15th day of December,
1923, I formally and absolutely renounced and abandoned the
said surname of Frizzell, and declared that I had assumed and
adopted, and intended thenceforth on all occasions whatso-
ever to use and subscribe the name of Fraser instead of
Frizzell, and so as to be at all times thereafter called, known,
and described by the name of Fraser exclusively.

VOLUNTARY WINDING-UP.

EXTRAORDINARY resolution passed at a general meet-
ing of shareholders held on December 17th, 1923:—
That it has been proved to its satisfaction that the company
cannot, by reason of its liabilities, continue its business, and
that the company be wound up voluntarily, and that Ivo B.
D. ESAM, of Auckland, Public Accountant, and WILLIAM
TARARU BROWN, also of Auckland, Estate Agent, be appointed
Liquidators. 9


In the matter of the Companies Act, 1908, and in the
matter of the Foxton Co-operative Cash Trading Society
(Limited).

NOTICE is hereby given that at an extraordinary general
meeting of members duly convened and held at Foxton
on the 11th day of December, 1923, the resolution firstly
below mentioned was passed as an extraordinary resolution,
and the resolution secondly below mentioned was at the
same meeting passed as an ordinary resolution.
(1.) “That this extraordinary general meeting of members
of this society, after going fully into the position, believes the
society solvent, but being unable to raise further working
capital duly decides to go into voluntary liquidation.”

RESOLUTION.

THE following regulations were laid before the members
of the Upper Clutha Racing Club at a meeting held on
the 22nd day of November, 1923, at Hawea Flat, with a
recommendation by the Chairman of such club, Mr. G. S. M.
McDermid, that the same be passed at once with a view to
their approval by His Excellency the Governor-General in
pursuance of the Gaming Act, 1908, section 33.

Mr. G. S. M. McDermid, the Chairman of such club and
the meeting, moved, and Mr. J. Faulks seconded, and it was
resolved, that such regulations should be adopted, and that
the Chairman and Secretary be authorized to sign the same
in authentication thereof.
The following are the regulations referred to:—

UPPER CLUTHA RACING CLUB.

REGULATIONS.

(Under the Gaming Act, 1908.)

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers in that behalf
contained in section 33 of the Gaming Act, 1908, and
of all other powers and authorities it enabling in that behalf,
the Upper Clutha Racing Club, a racing club within the
meaning of the said Act (hereinafter referred to as “the said
club”), doth hereby make the following regulations controlling
the admission of persons to that part of the Hawea Domain
situated in the district of Hawea Flat, and known as the
Upper Clutha Racing Club Racecourse, while the said race-
course is used or occupied by the said club for race meetings.

  1. These regulations shall come into force on the date of
    the same being published in the New Zealand Gazette.
  2. In these regulations the words “bookmaker,” “racing
    club,” and “race meeting” shall have the meanings ascribed
    to those terms respectively by section 2 of the Gaming Act,
  3. The following persons shall be and are hereby excluded
    from the racecourse above described while the same is used
    or occupied by the said club for a race meeting, namely:—
    (a.) Bookmakers.
    (b.) Bookmakers’ clerks, bookmakers’ assistants, and book-
    makers’ agents.
    (c.) All persons under disqualification inflicted by any
    racing or trotting club in the Dominion of New
    Zealand, the Commonwealth of Australia, or else-
    where if affiliated to the New Zealand Racing Con-
    ference, the New Zealand Trotting Conference, or
    the New Zealand Trotting Association.
    (d.) Common prostitutes and persons who habitually con-
    sort with thieves or persons who have no lawful
    visible means of support.
    (e.) Professional tipsters, persons convicted of house-
    breaking or pocket-picking, forgery, uttering or pos-
    sessing counterfeit, coin, theft, false pretences, re-
    ceiving stolen goods, mischief, assault, or any offence
    or crime of any kind under the Crimes Act, 1908,
    and also idle and disorderly persons, rogues, and
    vagabonds, and incorrigible rogues convicted under
    the Police Offences Act, 1908, and persons convicted
    of an offence under the Gaming Act, 1908.
    Provided always that the Stipendiary Stewards’ Com-

CITY OF AUCKLAND.

THE following resolution was passed at a meeting of the
Auckland City Council held on the 29th day of No-
vember, 1923:—
In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in
that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, the Auck-
land City Council hereby resolves as follows:—
That for the purpose of providing the interest and other
charges on a loan of £20,000 authorized to be raised by the
Auckland City Council under the above-mentioned Act for
the purpose of Zoological Park development, the said Auck-
land City Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of
one farthing in the pound upon the rateable value of all
rateable property of the City of Auckland, comprising the
whole of the said city; and that such special rate shall be
an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan,
and be payable yearly on the first day of June in each and
every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of
twenty-one years, or until the loan is fully paid off.” 12
