In the matter of the Companies Act, 1908, sections 220 to 234, and in the matter of GEORGE MENDS AND COMPANY (LIMITED).

NOTICE is hereby given that a meeting of members of GEORGE MENDS AND COMPANY (LIMITED), held for the purpose on the 27th day of October, 1921, a special resolution was passed to voluntarily wind up the said company, and appointed GEORGE MENDS, of Te Puke, Liquidator, to wind up the affairs of the company.

MENDS AND COMPANY (LIMITED), IN LIQUIDATION.

NOTICE OF FINAL MEETING PRIOR TO DISSOLUTION.

NOTICE is hereby given, in pursuance of section 230 of the Companies Act, 1908, that a general meeting of MENDS AND COMPANY (LIMITED) will be held at the office of G. H. MENDS, Paengaroa, at 3 p.m. on Friday, the 4th day of January, 1924, for the purpose of having laid before such meeting the account of the Liquidator showing the manner in which the winding-up has been conducted and the property of the company disposed of, and also of hearing an explanation thereof given by the Liquidator.

Under section 252 of the Companies Act, 1908, application will be made for an order as to the disposal of the company’s books.

HAMERS’ LIMITED.

In the matter of the Companies Act, 1908, and HAMERS’ LIMITED (in liquidation).

NOTICE is hereby given that at a general meeting of the company held at Dunedin, on 26th September, 1923, a special resolution was passed requiring the company to be wound up voluntarily, and DAVID LESLIE, of Dunedin, Public Accountant, was appointed Liquidator.

RESOLUTION.

THE following regulations were laid before the members of the Waipapakauri Racing Club at a meeting held on the 22nd day of August, 1923, at Kaitaia, with a recommendation by the Chairman of such club, Mr. Thomas S. Houston, that the same be passed at once with a view to their approval by His Excellency the Governor-General in pursuance of the Gaming Act, 1908, section 33.

M. Thomas S. Houston, the Chairman of such club and the meeting, moved, and Mr. W. A. N. Campbell seconded, and it was resolved, that such regulations should be adopted, and that the Chairman and Secretary be authorized to sign the same in authentication thereof.

The following are the regulations referred to:—

THE WAIPAPAKAURI RACING CLUB.

REGULATIONS.

(Under the Gaming Act, 1908.)

In pursuance and exercise of the powers in that behalf contained in section 33 of the Gaming Act, 1908, and of all other powers and authorities it enabling in that behalf, the Waipapakauri Racing Club, a racing club within the meaning of the said Act (hereinafter referred to as “the said club”), doth hereby make the following regulations controlling the admission of persons to that part of the racecourse situated in the district of Waipapakauri, and known as the Waipapakauri Racecourse, while the said racecourse is used or occupied by the said club for race meetings.

  1. These regulations shall come into force on the date of the same being published in the New Zealand Gazette.

  2. In these regulations the words “bookmaker,” “racing club,” and “race meeting” shall have the meanings ascribed to those terms respectively by section 2 of the Gaming Act, 1908.

  3. The following persons shall be and are hereby excluded from the racecourse above described while the same is used or occupied by the said club for a race meeting, namely:—

(a.) Bookmakers.

(b.) Bookmakers’ clerks, bookmakers’ assistants, and bookmakers’ agents.

(c.) All persons under disqualification inflicted by any racing or trotting club in the Dominion of New Zealand, the Commonwealth of Australia, or elsewhere if affiliated to the New Zealand Racing Conference, the New Zealand Trotting Conference, or the New Zealand Trotting Association.

(d.) Common prostitutes and persons who habitually consort with thieves or persons who have no lawful visible means of support.

(e.) Professional tipsters, persons convicted of housebreaking or pocket-picking, forgery, uttering or possessing counterfeit coin, theft, false pretences, receiving stolen goods, mischief, assault, or any offence or crime of any kind under the Crimes Act, 1908, and also idle and disorderly persons, rogues, and vagabonds, and incorrigible rogues convicted under the Police Offences Act, 1908, and persons convicted of an offence under the Gaming Act, 1908.

Provided always that the Stipendiary Stewards’ Committee appointed by the New Zealand Racing Conference, upon being satisfied by evidence as to character and otherwise that any person who, by reason of any conviction, comes within the scope of this regulation should have relief from the effect thereof, may grant exemption to any such person, and may at any time revoke any such exemption without notice to such person, and without assigning any reason for such revocation.

The foregoing regulations of the Waipapakauri Racing Club were made and passed by such club on the 22nd day of August, 1923, and signed by the Chairman and Secretary.

THE following regulations were laid before the members of the Hurunui Turf Club at a meeting held on the 26th day of November, 1923, at Waikari, with a recommendation by the Chairman of such club, Mr. Price Ballantyne, that the same be passed at once with a view to their approval by His Excellency the Governor-General in pursuance of the Gaming Act, 1908, section 33.

Mr. Price Ballantyne, the Chairman of such club and the meeting, moved, and Mr. Thomas Hampson seconded, and it was resolved, that such regulations should be adopted, and that the Chairman and Secretary be authorized to sign the same in authentication thereof.
