upon being satisfied by evidence as to character and otherwise that any person who, by reason of any conviction, comes within the scope of this regulation, should have relief from the effect thereof, may grant exemption to any such person, and may at any time revoke any such exemption without notice to such person, and without assigning any reason for such revocation.

The foregoing regulations of the Wataroa-Waitangi Racing Club were made and passed by such club on the 3rd day of November, 1923, and signed by the Chairman and Secretary.

In the matter of the Companies Act, 1908, and in the matter of the NEW ZEALAND LUMBER COMPANY (LIMITED).

At an extraordinary general meeting of the members of the above-mentioned company, duly convened, and held at the offices of Messrs. Newburgh, Best, and Co., in Cathedral Square, Christchurch, on Monday, the 12th day of November, 1923, the following extraordinary resolution was unanimously passed:—

That it has been proved to the satisfaction of this meeting that the company cannot, by reason of its liabilities, continue in business, and that it is advisable to wind up same, and accordingly that the company be wound up voluntarily.

And at the said meeting SAMUEL McMURRAY, of Christchurch, Timber-merchant, was appointed Liquidator for the purpose of such winding-up.

DISSOLUTION OF PARTNERSHIP.

Notice is hereby given that the Partnership heretofore carried on at Rotorua by THOMAS EDMUND MARTIN and ERNEST ALBERT HITCHINGS, trading as Martin and Co., Wine and Spirit Merchants, Rotorua, is hereby dissolved as from the 29th day of June, 1923.

APPLICATION FOR LICENSE FOR A BRANCH WATER-RACE.

To the Warden of the Otago Mining District at Cromwell.

Pursuant to the Mining Act, 1908, the undersigned, His Majesty the King, hereby applies for a license for a branch water-race as specified in the Schedule hereto, the course whereof has been duly marked out for the purpose.

Precise time of marking out privilege applied for: 2 p.m., 28/11/23.

Date and number of miner’s right: 26/6/23; 13256.

SCHEDULE.

Locality of the race, and its starting and terminal points: All in Block I, Tarras Survey District, commencing at the terminating-points of applicant’s water-race held under License No. 3634, dated 3/4/17, at the southern boundary of Section 1, being the point marked A on the plan attached; proceeding in a north-westerly direction generally through Sections 1 and 2, an unformed county road, Sections 17, 16, and 19, a county road, Sections 21, 20, and again 21, and 24 to the point marked B on the plan attached, between the points A and B, following and adopting the course of a water-race constructed by R. K. Smith, but not held as a mining privilege, and including as part of its course any culverts, bridges, pipes, or other works already existing in connection with the said constructed water-race: at the point B the race to be divided and thereafter to follow two separate directions, the first division of the course proceeding from the point B in a northerly direction through Sections 24 and 23, thence crossing an unformed county road, and proceeding in a south-westerly direction through Sections 30, 29, 28, and 26; thence in a north-westerly direction through Sections 27, 28, 29, and 31, crossing a county road; thence in a westerly direction through Section 32, crossing another county road, and proceeding in a south-westerly direction through Sections 33, 36, and into Section 37; thence in a westerly to southerly direction through Sections 37, 36, and 38; thence in a north-westerly direction through Sections 39, 35, 36, and 33; and terminating at the western boundary of the said Section 33 at the point marked H on the attached plan: the second division of the course from the point B to proceed in a southerly direction through Sections 24, 25, and 26; thence in a westerly direction through a portion of Section 26, a county road, another portion of Section 26, and Section 27 to a point marked C on the attached plan: at the point C the race to be again divided, and thereafter to follow two separate directions, the first division of the course to proceed in a westerly direction from the point C, crossing a county road, proceeding through Sections 38, 39, 40, 35, and 34, and terminating at the western boundary of the said Section 34 at the point marked G on the attached plan; the second division of the course from the point C proceeding in a south-easterly direction through Section 27 to the point marked E on the attached plan: at the point E the race to be again divided and thereafter to follow two separate directions, the first division of the course from the point E to proceed in a south-easterly direction through Section 27 crossing a county road and terminating at the point marked D on the attached plan, being the starting-point of the branch race of M. E. McKay held under license No. 4039; from the point B to D the course to follow and adopt the course of a water-race constructed by Mr. R. K. Smith, but not held as a mining privilege, and to include as a part of its course any culverts, bridges, pipes, or any other works already existing in connection with the said constructed water-race: the second division of the course from the point E to proceed in a south-westerly direction, crossing a county road and proceeding through Sections 38, 39, 40, and 41, a county road, Sections 46, 47, 48, 49, and 50, and terminating at the southern boundary of the said section 50 at the point marked F on the attached plan: all as shown by the red lines on the attached plan. Culverts or bridges to be provided by the applicant at all county roads to the satisfaction of the County Engineer; further culverts or bridges to be provided by the applicant in the courses of the race where it traverses the lands of the said R. K. Smith in such a manner as to sever the paddocks as now fenced or where for any other reason such culverts or bridges are reasonably necessary for the convenient use of the said lands, provided that the applicant shall be the sole judge as to the number or kind of such culverts or bridges to be provided.

Length and intended course of race: A to B, 2 miles 43 chains; B to C, 0 miles 66 chains; C to D, 0 miles 12 chains; B to H, 4 miles 0 chains; C to G, 1 mile 0 chains; E to F, 1 mile 50 chains: total length, 10 miles 8 chains.

Points of intake: One as above.

Estimated time and cost of construction: Already partly constructed, further to completion, £7,000; one year.

Mean depths and breadths: A to B, 12 ft. wide by 3 ft. 9 in. deep; B to H, 6 ft. wide by 3 ft. 3 in. deep; B to C and C to G, 10 ft. wide by 3 ft. 6 in. deep; C to D and E to F, 6 ft. wide by 3 ft. 3 in. deep; with in addition in all cases a strip of 10 feet wide on each side for purposes of maintenance and construction and for depositing of spoil.

Number of heads to be diverted: To divert any water supplied to it by the water-races held by applicant under License No. 3634 and any other licenses which may be granted to the applicant hereafter for the purpose.

Purpose: Irrigation and domestic.

Proposed term: Forty-two years.

DISSOLUTION OF PARTNERSHIP.

Notice is hereby given that the Partnership heretofore subsisting between JAMES MACKENZIE MATHESON and CLARENCE OSCAR HALL, lately carrying on business at Fairfield, near Dunedin, as General Storekeepers, under the style or firm of “Matheson and Hall,” has been dissolved by mutual consent as from the seventeenth day of September, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-three. All debts owing to the late firm should be paid immediately to Mr.
