miles by good flat metalled road. The run comprises easy rolling country, steep in places. Portion of this run has been burnt, and is now in native grass (Danthonia); balance of run is covered with bracken fern. Well watered. With burning and grassing the run is capable of carrying 600 sheep. The valuations for improvements must be paid immediately an applicant has been declared successful. Possession will be given on the 1st March, 1924. Sale plans and full particulars may be obtained at this office.

Pastoral Land in Hauraki Plains Mining District, Auckland Land District, for License.

District Lands and Survey Office,
Auckland, 10th December, 1923.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned land is open for license under the regulations for the occupation of pastoral lands in Hauraki Mining District, and applications will be received at this office up to 4 o’clock p.m., on Monday, the 21st January, 1924. The ballot for the land, if there is more than one applicant, will be held at this office at 10.30 o’clock a.m., on Wednesday, 23rd January, 1924. Preference at the ballot will be given to landless applicants who have children dependent on them, or who have within the preceding two years applied for land at least twice unsuccessfully.


SCHEDULE.

AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.—OHINEMURI COUNTY.

SECTION 15, Block III, Aroha Survey District. Area, 74 acres 1 rood 12 perches; capital value, £260; half-yearly rent, £6 10s.

Weighted with £130, valuation for improvements, comprising two-roomed dwelling with tank and stove, grassing and fencing, payable in cash on allotment.

Situated on the Waihi Plains, having a frontage to the Old Tauranga Road, and distant about four miles from Waihi by formed road, about one mile of which is metalled. The section comprises easy sloping and level land covered with fern and low scrub, the soil being light sandy loam on clay formation. The section has no permanent water-supply. Altitude, 120 ft. to 150 ft. above sea-level.

Term of license: Term, twenty-one years, with conditional right of renewal and the right to acquire the freehold. All applications are subject to the approval of the Land Board. Full particulars may be obtained at this office.

Special condition: The right is reserved to the former occupier to remove any posts and battens stacked on the section.

Education Reserve in Westland Land District for Lease by Public Tender.

District Lands and Survey Office,
Hokitika, 11th December, 1923.

NOTICE is hereby given that written tenders for the lease of the undermentioned education reserve for a term of twenty-one years, with perpetual right of renewal for a further similar term, will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, Hokitika, up to 4 o’clock p.m. on Monday, the 21st January, 1924, under the provisions of the Education Reserves Act, 1908, and the Public Bodies’ Leases Act, 1908, and amendments.

Envelopes should be marked on the outside “Tender for Lease of Education Reserve.”


SCHEDULE.

WESTLAND LAND DISTRICT.

Town of Cobden.—Cobden Survey District.

Lots 1 and 2 of Section 150: Area, 2 roods 0·8 perch; minimum annual rental, £3.

Vacant section, situated in Town of Cobden.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF LEASE.

  1. Tenders to state annual rental offered, and to be accompanied by one half-year’s rent, together with £2 2s. lease fee. Rent for broken period to 30th June, 1924, to be also payable by successful tenderer.

  2. Possession will be given on date of being declared successful.

  3. Rent payable half-yearly in advance. Interest 10 per cent. per annum to be paid on rent in arrear.

  4. Lease is for a term of twenty-one years, with perpetual right of renewal for successive terms of twenty-one years.

  5. Rent of renewed lease to be fixed by arbitration. If lessee does not desire a new lease at end of any term, land to be leased by auction, the incoming tenant to pay the value of improvements, which is to be handed over to the outgoing lessee, less any sums that may be due to the Crown.

  6. No transfer or sublease will be permitted without the consent of the Land Board.

  7. Lessee to keep area clear of noxious weeds and also to keep all creeks, drains, and watercourses open.

  8. No gravel to be removed without consent of Land Board.

  9. Lessee will not carry on any offensive trade.

  10. Lessee to pay all rates, taxes, and assessments.

  11. Lease liable to forfeiture if conditions are violated.

  12. The highest or any tender not necessarily accepted.

Education reserves are included in the classes of land on which, with the approval of the Advances Board, money may be advanced by the State-guaranteed Advances Office.

The reserve is described for the general information of intending tenderers, who are recommended, nevertheless, to make a personal inspection, as the Department is not responsible for the absolute accuracy of any description.

Form of lease may be perused, and full particulars obtained, at this office.

STATE FOREST SERVICE NOTICE.

Milling-timber for Sale by Public Tender.

State Forest Service,
Hokitika, 10th December, 1923.

NOTICE is hereby given that written tenders for the purchase of the undermentioned lots of milling-timber will close at the office of the State Forest Service, Hokitika, at 4 o’clock p.m., on Monday, the 7th January, 1924.


SCHEDULE.

WESTLAND FOREST-CONSERVATION REGION.—WESTLAND LAND DISTRICT.

ALL the milling-timber on that parcel of land containing approximately 38 acres, situated in Provisional State Forest Reserve No. 1605, Block I, Hohonu Survey District, about six miles from Gladstone Railway-station.

Estimated quantity of milling-timber, 960,000 superficial feet, comprising rimu, 935,000; totara, 25,000.

Upset price, £776.

Ground rent, £1 18s. per annum.

One year from 1st January, 1924, will be allowed in which to remove the timber.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS.

  1. A marked cheque for one-fourth of the purchase-money, together with one year’s ground rent and £1 1s. license fee, plus exchange, must accompany the tender, and the balance be paid by three equal quarterly instalments, the first of which shall be paid on the 1st April, 1924.

  2. All instalment-payments shall be secured by “on demand” promissory notes made and endorsed to the satisfaction of the Commissioner of State Forests, and interest at current bank rates will be charged on all notes overdue from the date of maturity to the date of payment.

  3. The right to cut and remove the timber will be sold in accordance with the terms of the Forests Act, 1921–22, the regulations in force thereunder, and the following conditions.

  4. Intending tenderers are expected to visit the locality and to satisfy themselves in every particular on all matters relative to the sale.

  5. Each tenderer must state the total price that he is prepared to pay for each species. The highest or any tender will not necessarily be accepted, and the timber described is submitted for sale subject to the final acceptance of the tender by the Commissioner of State Forests.

  6. The right is reserved to the Commissioner of State Forests to withdraw from sale any or all of the said timber either before or after the closing-date for receipt of tenders.

  7. If no tender is accepted for the timber herein mentioned, it will remain open for application at the upset price until further notice.

  8. Tenders should be addressed “Conservator of Forests, Hokitika,” and envelopes endorsed “Tender for Timber.”
