Opening National-endowment Lands in North Auckland Land
District for Selection on Renewable Lease.

JELLICOE, Governor-General.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, I, John
Rushworth, Viscount Jellicoe, Governor-General of the
Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the
national-endowment lands described in the Schedule hereto
shall be open for selection on renewable lease on Monday,
the eighteenth day of February, one thousand nine hun-
dred and twenty-four, at the rentals mentioned in the said
Schedule; and I do also declare that the said lands shall be
leased under and subject to the provisions of the said Act.

SCHEDULE.

NORTH AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.-NATIONAL-ENDOWMENT.
SECOND-CLASS LAND.-WHANGAREI COUNTY.

Purua Survey District.

SECTION 41, Block IX : Area, 203 acres l rood; capital
value, £400 ; half-yearly rent, £8.

Level land, covered with fern, manuka, and rushes. About
20 acres of a swampy nature. Poor semi-volcanic soil on
clay subsoil. Section has been dug over for gum. No sur-
face water, but water may be obtained by sinking. Distant
about fourteen miles from Whangarei by cart-road, of which
about twelve miles is metalled.

Hukerenui Survey District.

Section 10, Block VII : Area, 251 acres 1 rood 13 perches ;
capital value, £280 ; half-yearly rent, £5 12s.

Altitude, 750 ft. to 1,100 ft. above sea-level. Undulating
to hilly land, chiefly burnt kauri-workings, now in fern and
a fair amount of rough feed. Soil of fair quality on sand-
stone formation; well watered by streams. Distant about
four miles and three-quarters from Whakapara by formed
road. There is a right-of-way 100 links wide along the
southern boundary of the section.

Opening Lands in the North Auckland Land District for Sale or
Selection.

JELLICOE, Governor-General.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, I, John
Rushworth, Viscount Jellicoe, Governor-General of the
Dominion of New Zealand, having received the report of
the Under-Secretary in this behalf, as provided by section one
hundred and fifty-four of the said Act, do hereby declare
that the lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be
open for sale or selection on Monday, the eighteenth day of
February, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-four; and
also that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may,
at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be
selected for occupation with right of purchase, or on renew-
able lease; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the
said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in
the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands
shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the
provisions of the Land Act, 1908.

SCHEDULE.

NORTH AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.-SECOND-CLASS LAND.

Hokianga County.-Waoku Survey District.

SECTION 2, Block V : Area, 233 acres. Capital value, £500.
Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, £12 10s.
Renewable lease : Half-yearly rent, £10.

Weighted with £172, valuation for improvements, com-
prising shanty, 30 acres bush felled and grassed, and 66½ chains
fencing.

The elevation ranges from 50 ft. to 350 ft. above sea-level.
Broken country with poor spurs. About 180 acres mixed
forest, comprising puriri, rimu, taraire, kohekohe, &c., with
medium undergrowth of nikau, shrubs, and bush fern ; balance
fern and manuka. Soil of fair second-class quality, on
sandstone formation. Fairly well watered by streams.
Situated about four miles and a half from Opononi by formed
road.

Whangarei County.-Opuawhanga Survey District.

Section 8, Block XIII : Area, 261 acres. Capital value,
£480. Occupation with right of purchase : Half-yearly rent,
£12. Renewable lease : Half-yearly rent, £9 12s.

The elevation ranges from 500 to 600 ft. above sea-level.
The section comprises about 150 acres undulating, balance
broken land with a few small clumps of bush, enough for shelter;
and ti-tree and fern. About thirty acres rough grass overgrown
with fern. The soil is of sandstone and poor light loam,
resting on clay formation. Well watered by permanent
streams. The section is situated on the main Kiripaka-
Matapouri Road. The access is from Whangarei, which is
about fourteen miles distant by cart-road, metalled about
nine miles.

Great Barrier Island.-Aotea Parish.

Section N.E. 47, S.W. 48 and 49 : Area, 242 acres. Capital
value, £310. Occupation with right of purchase : Half-
yearly rent : £7 15s. Renewable lease : Half-yearly rent,
£6 4s.

The elevation ranges from 150 ft. to 900 ft. above sea-level.
Hilly to broken land covered in heavy bush and manuka.
This land is very suitable for sheep. Soil a brown loam of
fair quality. The section is well watered by streams. The
access is from Tryphena Harbour, which is about two miles
distant by good pack track only.

Opening Land in North Auckland Land District for Sale or
Selection.

JELLICOE, Governor-General.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, I, John
Rushworth, Viscount Jellicoe, Governor-General of the
Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare and provide
as follows, that is to say :-

  1. The rural land enumerated in the Schedule hereto is
    hereby set apart for disposal by way of sale or selection on
    Monday, the eighteenth day of February, one thousand nine
    hundred and twenty-four, at the respective price specified
    in the said Schedule, and shall be deemed to be "scrub land."

  2. The said land may be purchased for cash, or be selected
    for occupation with right of purchase, or on renewable lease.

  3. After the first half-year's rent has been paid by the
    selector the further instalments of rent payable by him for a
    period of two years shall not be demanded ; provided that if
    at any time during the first five years of his occupancy the
    selector disposes of his interest in the land, the rent so con-
    ceded shall be paid by him in full, and thereupon the Land
    Board may remit such instalments of rent payable by the
    incoming tenant, not exceeding in the aggregate the amount
    of rent previously conceded to the selector, as the Board
    shall think fit.

SCHEDULE.

NORTH AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.-SECOND-CLASS LAND.

Waitemata County.-Paremaremo Parish.

(Exempt from Payment of Rent for Two Years.)

SECTION 299 : Area, 30 acres 1 rood 30 perches. Capital
value, £100. Occupation with right of purchase: Half-
yearly rent, £2 10s. Renewable lease : Half-yearly rent, £2.
Weighted with £115, valuation for improvements, consisting
of fencing and kauri house of two rooms and passage, iron
roof, brick chimney, and drains, 600-gallon tank, house 12ft.
by 27 ft. (rough-lined, but no ceiling).

Altitude 200 ft. to 400 ft. above sea-level. Approximately
six acres of undulating land, the balance being rough, broken
country in short fern and manuku. About one-half plough-
able ; this is all exposed to the south. The soil is of pure
clay, resting on clay and sandstone formation. The section
is watered by a swampy creek. It is situated on the high
ridge at the back of Albany. The access is from Albany,
which is about three miles distant by a formed road, of which
one mile and a half is metalled.
