Prescribing the Rate of Interest that may be paid by the New Plymouth Borough Council in respect of a Loan of £31,500, authorized to be raised for providing Additions and Extensions to the Electric Light and Power Works.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House at Wellington, this 26th day of November, 1923.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by section eleven of the Finance Act, 1921, and its amendments it is provided that, notwithstanding anything to the contrary in any Act or in any rule of law, where a local authority or public body has been authorized before the passing of the said Act or is thereafter authorized to borrow money, whether pursuant to a poll of ratepayers or otherwise howsoever, whether the rate of interest or the term of years of the loan was or was not specified or determined, and such money or any part thereof has not been borrowed, the local authority may, with the precedent consent of the Minister of Finance, borrow such money, or such amount thereof as has not been borrowed, at such rate of interest, or for such term, as may be prescribed by the Governor-General by Order in Council:
And whereas the New Plymouth Borough Council has been authorized to borrow the sum of thirty-one thousand five hundred pounds for providing additions and extensions to the electric light and power works:
And whereas the Minister of Finance has given his precedent consent as required by the above-recited section eleven, and it is desired that the rate of interest at which the money may be borrowed be not exceeding six per centum per annum.
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in him as aforesaid, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby prescribe that the rate of interest that may be paid by the New Plymouth Borough Council in respect of the said loan of thirty-one thousand five hundred pounds shall be a rate not exceeding six per centum per annum, and the said New Plymouth Borough Council is hereby authorized to borrow the said sum of thirty-one thousand five hundred pounds accordingly.

Borough Council in respect of the said loan of twenty-three thousand pounds shall be a rate not exceeding six per centum per annum, and the said New Plymouth Borough Council is hereby authorized to borrow the said sum of twenty-three thousand pounds accordingly.

Changing the Purpose of Part of a Reserve in the Leeston Town District, Canterbury Land District.
JELLICOE, Governor-General.
WHEREAS the land described in the Schedule hereto forms part of a reserve duly set apart for tramway purposes, being a purpose within Class II of the Second Schedule of the Public Reserves and Domains Act, 1908, and such land is not vested in trust in any society, body corporate, or trustee:
And whereas it is expedient that such land should be appropriated for a site for a hospital, being a purpose within Class III of the said Second Schedule:
Now, therefore, I, John Rushworth, Viscount Jellicoe, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the eleventh section of the Public Reserves and Domains Act, 1908, do by this notification declare that the said land shall, from and after the fifteenth day of December, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-three, be appropriated for a site for a hospital under Class III of the Public Reserves and Domains Act, 1908; and I do hereby direct that this notification shall be published in the New Zealand Gazette.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that area in the Canterbury Land District, containing by admeasurement 3 roods 22·8 perches, more or less, being Reserve No. 4077 (formerly part of Tramway Reserve 297) situated in the Leeston Town District. Bounded towards the north-west by part Reserve 297, 122 links; towards the north by part of Rural Section 6073, 395·4 and 503·8 links; towards the south-east by other part of Reserve 297, 148·9 links; towards the south by other part of Rural Section 6073, 400, and 468·4 links; and again towards the south-west by Rural Section 5787, 14·25 links: be all the aforesaid linkages a little more or less. As the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 6/8/24, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon coloured red.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 26th day of November, 1923.

Declaring Land in the North Auckland Land District to be subject to the Land for Settlements Act, 1908.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred by section seventy-nine of the Land for Settlements Act, 1908, as amended by section twenty-seven of the Land Laws Amendment Act, 1920, I, John Rushworth, Viscount Jellicoe, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the area of Crown land described in the Schedule hereto shall be subject to the provisions of the Land for Settlements Act, 1908, and shall hereafter form part of the Parahi Settlement.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that area in the North Auckland Land District, situate in Omaru Parish (Block V, Matakohe Survey District), Otamatea County, and containing by admeasurement 1 acre 0 roods 5 perches, more or less, being that piece of stopped road declared to be Crown land by Proclamation dated 23rd day of July, 1923, published in the New Zealand Gazette of 26th July, 1923. Bounded towards the north-west by Crown land, 720 links and 160·8 links, and by a public road, 400·7 links; towards the east by a public road, 22·2 links; towards the south-east by Allotment 134 E.R., 266·3 links, 241·7 links, and 735·2 links; and towards the south-west by a public road 96·7 links and 8·5 links: be the aforesaid linkages a little more or less.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 24th day of November, 1923.
