Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred by the above-in-part-recited Act, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby approve and confirm the terms of the several contracts aforesaid, and doth hereby authorize the Minister of Public Works to construct, maintain, and control the water-supply works described in the First Schedule hereto.
FIRST SCHEDULE.
THE Manuherikia Irrigation Works for the irrigation of the Manuherikia Irrigation District as described in the Second Schedule hereto by means of water drawn from the Manuherikia River, and any dam or dams which are or may be constructed or acquired on that river or its tributaries, such water being conveyed into the said district by the race known as the Manuherikia Race, or by any enlargement or extension thereof or any other race or races constructed or acquired by the Minister of Public Works in addition to or in lieu of the said Manuherikia Water-race, the said works including all dams, weirs, reservoirs, tunnels, fluming, siphons, piping, gauge-boxes, and races, and all other works incidental thereto or required for the construction, maintenance, and control of the said works for the irrigation of the said Manuherikia Irrigation District.
SECOND SCHEDULE.

ALL that land comprising such parts of the Tiger Hill and Leaning Rock Survey Districts, Otago Land District, as are within the area coloured red on the plan marked P.W.D. 56237, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred by section eleven of the Surveyors’ Institute and Board of Examiners Act, 1908, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council thereof, doth hereby appoint, as from the first day of January, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-three, the undermentioned persons to be members of the Surveyors Board constituted by the said Act, namely,—

THOMAS BROOK,
SAMUEL THOMAS SEDDON, M.C., and
PRESTON CHAMBERS,
the two first-named persons having been nominated by the Minister of Lands, and the two last-named persons having been nominated by the Council of the Institute of Surveyors, as required by the said Act.

Authorizing the Minister of Public Works to construct and maintain Water-supply Works in the Ardgour Irrigation District.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this 24th day of January, 1923.

WHEREAS it is provided by section two of the Public Works Amendment Act, 1910 (hereinafter called “the said Act”), that the Governor-General may, if he thinks fit, by Order in Council authorize the Minister of Public Works to construct, maintain, or control any water-race or water-supply works, either within or outside a mining district,
which are proposed to be constructed or which have been constructed out of funds provided by Parliament:
And whereas it is further provided by section five of the said Act that before any Order in Council is issued authorizing the said Minister to construct any water-race or water-supply works the owners or occupiers of all the lands likely to be benefited thereby shall be given an opportunity to enter into contracts with His Majesty to take water from such works when completed; and such contracts shall specify the quantity of water to be so taken, and the price or rent to be paid for the same:
And whereas it is also provided by section five of the said Act that if at least one-half of the total number of those owners or occupiers enter into contracts to take such quantity of water as the Governor-General thinks reasonable, at such a price or rate as the Governor-General may approve, an Order in Council authorizing the construction of the works may be issued:
And whereas the water-supply works mentioned in the First Schedule hereto are proposed to be constructed out of the funds provided by Parliament:
And whereas at least one-half of the total number of the owners or occupiers of the lands which are likely to be benefited thereby have entered into contracts with His Majesty to take water from such works when completed, which contracts specify the quantity of water to be taken and the price to be paid for the same:

Boundaries of the City of Christchurch altered.

At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this 17th day of January, 1923.

WHEREAS a petition has been presented to the Governor-General, under section one hundred and thirty-two of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1920, praying the Governor-General to alter the boundaries of the City of Christchurch by including therein the area described in the Schedule hereto, comprising a portion of the County of Waimairi:
And whereas a notice, showing the proposed alteration in boundaries of the said city, has been gazetted and publicly notified:
And whereas objections in writing against such alteration were lodged:
And whereas after inquiry and report by a Commission appointed under the said section a poll was taken under the provisions of the said section on the twenty-ninth day of November, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-two, on the proposal to include the said area in the City of Christchurch, and the result of that poll was in favour of the said proposal:
