Declaring Land purchased for a Government Work, and not required for that Purpose, to be Crown Land.

A PROCLAMATION.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by the Public Works Act, 1908, and the Public Works Amendment Act, 1909, and of every other power and authority in anywise enabling me in this behalf, I, John Rushworth, Viscount Jellicoe, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare the land described in the Schedule hereto to be Crown land subject to the Land Act, 1908.

SCHEDULE.

APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land declared to be Crown land: 1 acre 0 roods 34·62 perches.

Being Lot 40 and part Lot 39, Block V, D.P. 1743, being part Section 6, also other part Section 6, Watts Peninsula R.D., situated in Block VII, Port Nicholson Survey District, City of Wellington. (S.O. 1808.)

In the Wellington Land District; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 57762, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon bordered red.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, and issued under the Seal of that Dominion, this 23rd day of August, 1923.

A PROCLAMATION.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred by section eleven of the Land Act, 1908, I, John Rushworth, Viscount Jellicoe, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim as a street the land in the Waitemata Survey District described in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE.

APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land proclaimed as a street: 2·9 perches.

Portion of Lot 29 of Allotment 7, Parish of Takapuna, Borough of Northcote, situated in Block XII, Waitemata Survey District (Auckland R.D.). (S.O. 22493.)

In the North Auckland Land District; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 57578, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon coloured blue.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, and issued under the Seal of that Dominion, this 23rd day of August, 1923.

A PROCLAMATION.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by the Public Works Act, 1908, the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908, and the Scenery Preservation Amendment Act, 1910, and of every other power and authority in anywise enabling me in this behalf, I, John Rushworth, Viscount Jellicoe, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim and declare that the land described in the Schedule hereto is hereby taken for scenic purposes; and I do also hereby declare that this Proclamation shall take effect on and after the sixth day of September, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-three.

SCHEDULE.

IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in him by the Valuation of Land Amendment Act, 1920, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby appoint John George Lewis Hewitt to be President of the Assessment Court.

Protecting the Natural Enemy of the Rabbit.—Notice No. 2289

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House at Wellington, this 20th day of August, 1923.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section twenty-five of the Rabbit Nuisance Act, 1908, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby declare stoats and weasels to be natural enemies of the rabbit, and prohibit the killing or capturing of such animals without a special permit signed by an Inspector under the said Act.

Protection of Natural Enemy of the Rabbit.—Notice No. Ag. 2290.

Department of Agriculture,
Wellington, 24th August, 1923.

WITH respect to the Order in Council dated 20th August, 1923, declaring stoats and weasels to be natural enemies of the rabbit throughout the Dominion, it is hereby notified, for public information, that—
(1.) In districts which are free from rabbits consideration will be given to the granting of an exemption from the general protection upon receipt of a petition in that behalf made by any local authority or acclimatization society in accordance with the provisions of section 25 of the Rabbit Nuisance Act, 1908; and
(2.) Inspectors of Stock have been authorized to issue permits for the destruction of stoats and weasels on—
(a.) Island sanctuaries;
(b.) Acclimatization societies’ game-rearing farms: and
(c.) Poultry-farms where it is established that damage is being done on such farms by these animals.
