ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House at Wellington, this 6th day of August, 1923.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL
ON the recommendation of the Native Land Purchase Board, referred to in section three hundred and sixty-three of the Native Land Act, 1909, and in exercise of the power in this behalf conferred upon him by that section, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby prohibit, for the period of one year from the date of this Order in Council, all alienation of the Native land specified in the Schedule hereto other than alienation in favour of the Crown.

Regulations under the Naval Defence Act amended.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred on me by section twenty-five of the Naval Defence Act, 1913, and section five of the Naval Defence Amendment Act, 1922, and of all other powers and authorities enabling me in that behalf, I, John Rushworth, Viscount Jellicoe, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, do hereby amend and supplement the regulations referred to in the Schedule hereto as shown therein.
SCHEDULE.
REGULATIONS FOR THE GOVERNMENT AND PAYMENT OF THE NEW ZEALAND DIVISION OF THE ROYAL NAVY.1. Add to paragraph 1 of regulation 4:—"These officers may be granted periods of short leave during actual service in the New Zealand Division; the total leave thus received is not, however, to exceed twenty-one days in any leave-year without corresponding deduction from the number of days foreign-service leave to which they may be entitled on return to the United Kingdom. Not more than forty-two days' leave a year is to be granted to any officer. The leave-year is to be reckoned from the date of leaving the United Kingdom."2. In regulation No. 7, paragraph 2, for "permanent," in line one, substitute "other."3. In regulation No. 37, add an additional paragraph 4A as follows:—4A. "For the purpose of assessing compensation in the case of persons on sea-going rates of pay, the following payments and allowances only shall be considered as pay:—(a.) Active pay.(b.) Good-conduct badge pay.(c.) Allowances for special qualifications.(d.) Victualling allowance.(e.) Kit-upkeep allowance.(f.) Married or dependant's allowance."4. In regulation No. 47, cancel paragraph 1, and substitute :—"A free kit will be issued on entry, and an allowance for its upkeep paid at the rates applicable in the Royal Navy as fixed from time to time by the Admiralty. Revised rates shall take effect from the first day of the quarter following receipt of Admiralty regulations promulgating such alterations."5. Cancel regulation No. 48, and substitute:—"Clothing gratuities shall be payable at the rates and on the occasions specified in regulations issued by the Admiralty, with effect from the first day of the quarter following the receipt of Admiralty regulations fixing or revising rates of allowances."6. In Appendix III, cancel allowances payable to searchlight operators and manipulators.REGULATIONS FOR THE NEW ZEALAND ROYAL NAVAL RESERVE (Men).7. In regulation No. 14, amend last sentence to read "Men will be enrolled in the substantive and non-substantive ratings for which they are reported fit."8. Add to regulation No. 43, under "Class B":—"The equivalent rating of a provisional seaman and seaman is that of able seaman; and of a provisional stoker and stoker, that of stoker lst class. The equivalent rating of enginemen is stated in regulation No. 22."F. D. THOMSON,

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred by the Electric-power Boards Act, 1918, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby appoint Saturday, the eighteenth day of August, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-three, as the day on which shall be held the first election of the representatives of the constituent districts in the Tauranga Electric-power District, being an electric-power district duly constituted by Proclamation dated the seventh day of June, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-three, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 52, of the fourteenth day of June, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-three.F.
