In the matter of the Industrial and Provident Societies Act, 1908; and in the matter of THE AUCKLAND CO-OPERATIVE SOCIETY (LIMITED), a body incorporated under the above Act and having its registered office at 170 Symonds Street in the City of Auckland.

NOTICE is hereby given that a petition for winding up the above-named society by the Court was on the 19th day of July, 1923, presented to E. C. Cutten, Esquire, Stipendiary Magistrate at Auckland, by William Stewart Pratt, Manager of the Northern Roller Milling Company (Limited), for and on behalf of the said company, creditors of the said society; and the said petition is directed to be heard before a Stipendiary Magistrate at the Magistrates’ Court held at Auckland on the 6th day of August, 1923, at 11 o’clock in the forenoon; and any creditor or contributory of the said society desirous to oppose the making of an order for the winding-up of the said society under the above Act should appear at the time of hearing (by himself or his counsel) for that purpose; and a copy of the petition will be furnished to any creditor or contributory of the said society requiring same, by the undersigned, on payment of the regulated charge for the same.

RESOLUTION.

THE following regulations were laid before the members of the Oamaru Trotting Club at a meeting held on the 28th day of June, 1923, at Oamaru, with a recommendation by the Chairman of such club, Mr. M. J. Hannon, that the same be passed at once with a view to their approval by His Excellency the Governor-General, in pursuance of the Gaming Act, 1908, section 33.

Mr. M. J. Hannon, the Chairman of such club and the meeting, moved, and Mr. J. Eadie seconded, and it was resolved, that such regulations should be adopted, and that the Chairman and Secretary be authorized to sign the same in authentication thereof.

The following are the regulations referred to:—

OAMARU TROTTING CLUB.

REGULATIONS.

(Under the Gaming Act, 1908.)

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers in that behalf contained in section 33 of the Gaming Act, 1908, and of all other powers and authorities it enabling in that behalf, the Oamaru Trotting Club, a trotting club within the meaning of the said Act (hereinafter referred to as “the said club”), doth hereby revoke the regulations dated the 19th day of June, 1919, and in lieu thereof doth hereby make the following regulations controlling the admission of persons to that part of the course situated in the district of North Otago, and known as the Oamaru Trotting Club’s Racecourse, while the said racecourse is used or occupied by the said club for race meetings.

  1. These regulations shall come into force on the date of the same being published in the New Zealand Gazette.

  2. In these regulations the words “bookmaker,” “trotting club,” and “race meeting” shall have the meanings ascribed to those terms respectively by section 2 of the Gaming Act, 1908.

  3. The following persons shall be and are hereby excluded from the racecourse above described while the same is used or occupied by the said club for a race meeting, namely,—

(a.) Bookmakers.

(b.) Bookmakers’ clerks, bookmakers’ assistants, and bookmakers’ agents.

(c.) All persons under disqualification inflicted by any racing or trotting club in the Dominion of New Zealand, the Commonwealth of Australia, or elsewhere, if affiliated to the New Zealand Racing Conference, or the New Zealand Trotting Conference, or the New Zealand Trotting Association.

(d.) Common prostitutes, and persons who habitually consort with thieves or persons who have no lawful visible means of support.

(e.) Professional tipsters, persons convicted of house-breaking or pocket-picking, forgery, uttering or possessing counterfeit coin, theft, false pretences, receiving stolen goods, mischief, assault, or any offence or crime of any kind under the Crimes Act, 1908, and also idle and disorderly persons, rogues and vagabonds, and incorrigible rogues convicted under the Police Offences Act, 1908, and persons convicted of an offence under the Gaming Act, 1908

Provided always that the Stipendiary Stewards’ Committee appointed by the New Zealand Trotting Conference, upon being satisfied by evidence as to character and otherwise that any person who, by reason of any conviction, comes within the scope of this regulation should have relief from the effect thereof, may grant exemption to any such person, and may at any time revoke any such exemption without notice to such person, and without assigning any reason for such revocation.

The foregoing regulations of the Oamaru Trotting Club were made and passed by such club on the 28th day of June, 1923, and signed by the Chairman and Secretary.

NOTICE is hereby given that John Lysaght (Limited), whose head office in New Zealand is situated in Ballance Street in the City of Wellington, proposes to carry on business in the City of Dunedin. The place of business of the said company in the said City of Dunedin will be at the premises now being erected for the said company in Birch and Kitchener Streets in the said city.

THE WAIKATO SHIPPING COMPANY (LIMITED).

IN LIQUIDATION.

AT an extraordinary meeting of shareholders of the above-mentioned company held on 19th July, 1923, the following extraordinary resolution was passed:—

“That it is proved to its satisfaction that the company cannot by reason of its liabilities continue its business, and that it is advisable to wind up the same; and that Mr. R. ENGLISH, Public Accountant, of Hamilton, be appointed Liquidator for the purposes of such winding-up.”
