The appointment of 2nd Lieutenant (temp.) W. Alexander (1st C. Battalion) lapses. Dated 19th June, 1923.

The Southland Regiment.

2nd Lieutenant H. M. Dykes (1st C. Battalion) resigns his commission. Dated 22nd June, 1923.

N.Z. Army Nursing Service.

Matron A. MacMillan is retired, with permission to retain her rank and wear the prescribed uniform. Dated 1st February, 1922.

Staff Nurse E. Westmacott is transferred to the Reserve List. Dated 31st March, 1922.

Reserve of Officers.

Lieutenant S. W. Moffett is retired under the provisions of paragraph 126, General Regulations, 1913, with permission to retain his rank and wear the prescribed uniform. Dated 19th June, 1923.

ADDENDUM.

With reference to the notice published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 53, of 21st June, 1923, relating to the New Zealand Infantry Units redesignated, under the heading The Canterbury Regiment, with headquarters at Christchurch, after 4th (Cadet) Battalion add “5th (Cadet) Battalion, with headquarters at Christchurch. [Late 6th (Cadet) Battalion, Canterbury Regiment.]”

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the Council of the County of Waitomo, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913.

WAITOMO COUNTY COUNCIL.

PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Waikawau Lower Special Rating Area in the County of Waitomo taken on the 13th day of April, 1923, on the proposal of the Waitomo County Council to borrow the sum of £1,000 for the purpose of forming, widening, culverting, and metalling portions of the Waikawau Lower Road, the number of votes recorded for the proposal was 11, and the number of votes recorded against the proposal was nil.

I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

Date of Election of Members of the Invercargill Fire Board.

Wellington, 2nd July, 1923.

PURSUANT to section 18 of the Fire Brigades Act, 1908, I, Richard Francis Bollard, Minister of Internal Affairs of the Dominion of New Zealand, and the Minister charged with the administration of the said Act, do hereby appoint Tuesday, the 10th day of July, 1923, to be the day for the holding of an election of three members of the said Invercargill Fire Board by the contributing local authority.

Notice of Intention to take Land in Maramarua Survey District for the Purposes of a Road.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1908, to execute a certain public work—to wit, the construction of a road in Maramarua Survey District; and for the purposes of such public work the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken. And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Whangamarino, and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Public Works at Wellington.

Notice by the Public Trustee under the Public Trust Office Act, 1908 (Part II), and its Amendments.

To the owner of the following land, that is to say: All that piece or parcel of land situate in the Provincial District of Otago, containing by admeasurement 10·45 perches, more or less, being Allotment 57 on D.P. 202, Block II, Township of St. John’s Wood, part Section 12, North-east Valley District, and being the balance of the land comprised in certificate of title, Vol. 17, folio 217, Otago Registry, the present registered proprietor of which is William Baldwin, of Dunedin, Gentleman.

WHEREAS, after due inquiry, the owner of the above-described land cannot be found: And whereas the said owner has no known agent in New Zealand:

Now, the Public Trustee hereby calls on such owner, within six month of the date of the publication of this notice in the Gazette, to establish to the satisfaction of the Public Trustee his title to the said land; and if he fails or neglects so to do the Public Trustee will exercise the powers and authorities granted to him in and by the Public Trust Office Act, 1908, and its amendments.
