Notice to Mariners.—No. 25 of 1923.
GABLE ISLET LIGHT—AMENDED DESCRIPTION.—SECTORS DEFINED.

REFERRING to Notice to Mariners No. 15 issued by the Marine Department on 21st March, 1923, relating to Gable Islet light, and to the warning contained therein, mariners are hereby notified that the amended and complete description of this light is as follows:—
Aga light, unwatched, group flashing, 2 flashes every 11 seconds (0·5 second light, 1 second eclipse; 0·5 second light, 9 seconds eclipse), visible seventeen miles.
The light is exhibited from a white-painted circular tower 12 ft. in height, placed on the summit of Gable Islet at a height of 123 ft. above high water.
Sectors.—From the line of transit with Moutara Bluff to the northward the light shows white round through west and north to 013·8°, thence red over Monowai Rocks to 018·3°, thence white in shore to line of transit with Tatapouri Head to the south-westward.
Attention of mariners is drawn to the new edition of Admiralty Chart No. 3500, published June, 1922, which defines the magnetic variations in this locality for that year to be 15·75° easterly.
This notice supersedes and cancels Notice to Mariners No. 15 of 1923.

NOTICE is hereby given that the leases and licenses of the undermentioned lands having been declared forfeited by resolution of the Auckland Land Board, the said lands have thereby reverted to the Crown, under the provisions of the Land Act, 1908, and the Discharged Soldiers Settlement Act, 1915.

Education Reserves in Canterbury Land District for Lease by Public Auction.
District Lands and Survey Office,
Christchurch, 15th May, 1923.
NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned education reserves will be offered for lease by public auction at the District Lands and Survey Office, Christchurch, on Wednesday, the 11th day of July, 1923, at 10.30 o’clock a.m., under the provisions of the Education Reserves Act, 1908, and amendments, and the Public Bodies’ Leases Act, 1908.
SCHEDULE.
CANTERBURY LAND DISTRICT.
Waipara County.—Waipara Survey District.
Lot 2 of E.R. 2004, Block II: Area, 387 acres 2 roods 2 perches; upset annual rent, £155.
Weighted with £79 12s., valuation for windmill, tank, piping, trough, and fencing.
Situated about six miles from Hawarden Railway-station by good road. It consists of light arable land, stony in parts, suitable for crops other than wheat. Subdivided into five paddocks.
Lot 1 of E.R. 1144, Block XII: Area, 192 acres 0 roods 28 perches; upset annual rent, £140.
Weighted with £73 6s., valuation of improvements consisting of boundary and subdivisional fencing.
Lot 2 of E.R. 1144, Block XII: Area, 281 acres 0 roods 22 perches; upset annual rent, £180.
Weighted with £104 6s. 6d., valuation of improvements consisting of boundary and subdivisional fencing.
The lots are close to Waikari Railway-station by good road. Land consists of good, sweet, limestone country. On Lot 1, 50 acres are ploughable. On Lot 2, 40 acres are ploughable.
Special Condition.—The successful applicant of Lot 2, E.R. 1144, will be required to suitably enclose the area immediately surrounding the ancient rock paintings situated on the limestone bluff of the south-eastern portion of the section, and these paintings will have to be protected during the currency of the lease.
ABSTRACT OF TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF LEASE.

Six months’ rent at the rate offered, together with rent for the broken period, and £2 2s. lease fee and cost of registration, must be paid on the fall of the hammer.

Term of lease, twenty-one years, with right of renewal for further similar terms at rentals based on fresh valuations under the provisions of the Public Bodies’ Leases Act, 1908.

Rent payable half-yearly, in advance, on 1st days of January and July in each year.

Lessee to maintain in good substantial repair all buildings, drains, and fences; to keep clear all creeks, drains, ditches, and watercourses; to trim all live hedges; and yield up all improvements in good order and condition at the expiration of his lease.

Lessee not to transfer, sublet, or subdivide without the consent of the Land Board.

Lessee to keep the land free from noxious weeds, rabbits, and vermin.

Lessee not to use or remove any gravel without the consent of the Land Board.

Lessee not to carry on any noxious, noisome, or offensive trade upon the land.

Lessee not to make improvements without the consent of the Land Board.
