Appointing Saturday as the Statutory Closing-day in the Borough of Waipukurau.
WHEREAS a poll to determine the statutory closing-day in the Borough of Waipukurau was duly taken under the authority of section 20 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921-22, on the 26th day of April, 1923:
And whereas the Town Clerk of the Borough of Waipukurau has notified me that the majority of the votes given at such poll were in favour of the appointment of Saturday as the statutory closing-day in the said borough:
Now, therefore, I, George James Anderson, Minister of Labour, in pursuance of section 20 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921-22, do hereby appoint Saturday as the statutory closing-day in the said borough as from the 21st day of May, 1923.
Dated at Wellington this 16th day of May, 1923.

And whereas the Clerk of the Waiuku Town Board has notified me that the majority of the votes given at such poll were in favour of the appointment of Saturday as the statutory closing-day in the said town district:
Now, therefore, I, George James Anderson, Minister of Labour, in pursuance of section 20 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921-22, do hereby appoint Saturday as the statutory closing-day in the said town district as from the 21st day of May, 1923.

Classification of Assistant Teachers in Technical Schools and of Manual-training Teachers.
THE following lists of assistant teachers employed in technical schools, and recognized technical classes, and recognized manual-training classes, or classified for employment in such schools or classes, are issued under the authority of the Minister of Education, in accordance with the regulations relating to technical schools, recognized technical classes, and recognized manual-training classes made by Orders in Council dated the 8th December, 1920, and the 18th September, 1922.
Under the heading "Division" is shown the division and class in which the teacher is classified.
The class of salary corresponding to the class and division in which the teacher is placed is given in the Schedule to the aforementioned regulations as affected by regulations under the Public Expenditure Adjustment Act made by Orders in Council dated 23rd February, 1922, and 31st July, 1922.
The lists hereunder show the names of teachers whose classification has been revised
NOTE.-In the last column of the classification list T.S. stands for "Technical School," E.B. for "Education Board."

Public Service Classification and Superannuation Amendment Act, 1908.-Election of Member of Teachers' Superannuation Board.
NOTICE is hereby given that an election will be held for the purpose of electing as a member of the Teachers' Superannuation Board a person from among the contributors to the Teachers' Superannuation Fund residing in the South Island, to fill an extraordinary vacancy caused by the resignation of Mr. Oscar Flamank. And notice is further given that-
(1.) The said election will be held on Friday, the 13th day of July, 1923, at the offices of the Education Department, Wellington.
(2.) The poll will be closed at 5 o'clock p.m.
(3.) Nominations will close on Thursday, the 14th day of June, 1923, at 5 o'clock p.m.

THE following Notices to Mariners, received from the Commonwealth Navigation Service, Melbourne, are published for general information.
COMMONWEALTH LIGHTHOUSE SERVICE.
Swan Island Light.-On or about 10th May, 1923, the power of the fixed and flashing white light on Swan Island will be increased, and the length of flash reduced.
Position : Lat. 40° 44' S., long. 148° 08' E.
Character : Continuous white fixed light varied by flashes every minute, thus-flash 4½ secs., eclipse 55½ secs.
Cape Bruny Light.-On or about 14th June, 1923, the power of the flashing white light on Cape Bruny will be increased and the length of flash reduced.
Position : Lat. 43° 30' S., long. 147° 09' E.
Character : White flashing every twenty-two and one-half seconds, thus-flash 2½ secs., eclipse 20½ secs.
