Special Order made by the Hauraki Plains County Council
altering Riding Boundaries (and adjusting Representation).

Wellington, 14th March, 1923.

THE following special order, made by the Hauraki Plains
County Council, is published in accordance with the
provisions of the Counties Act, 1920.

Pursuant to section 100 of that Act, as amended by sec-
tion 3 of the Counties Amendment Act, 1921–22, I hereby
fix the 31st day of March, 1923, as the date from which
the special order shall take effect.

HAURAKI PLAINS COUNTY COUNCIL.

IN exercise of the powers conferred upon it by sections 23
and 60 of the Counties Act, 1920, the Hauraki Plains County
Council hereby resolved by way of special order as fol-
lows :—

  1. The present division of the County of Hauraki Plains
    into five ridings is revoked, and in lieu thereof the said
    county shall be divided into ten ridings, to be called re-
    spectively Kopuarahi Riding, Turua Riding, Horahia Riding,
    Kerepeehi Riding, Netherton Riding, Tahuna Riding, Pate-
    tonga Riding, Ngatea Riding, Pipiroa Riding, and Waitaka-
    ruru Riding, which said ridings are respectively described
    in the Schedule hereto.

  2. The said Hauraki Plains County Council shall consist
    of ten members, who shall be elected as follows: The
    electors of each of the above-mentioned ten ridings shall
    elect one Councillor.

  3. The alteration hereby made shall take effect on and
    after the 1st day of April, 1923.

SCHEDULE.

Kopuarahi Riding.

All that area in the Auckland Land District, Hauraki
Plains County, bounded towards the north and east by a
line commencing at a point midway in the mouth of the
Piako River where it intersects the northern boundary of
the county; thence proceeding in an easterly and southerly
direction along such boundary to a point in line with the
southern boundary of Kaipapaka Block in Block XII of the
Thames Survey District; thence on the south to and along
the southern boundary of the said Kaipapaka Block; thence
northerly along the western boundary of the last-mentioned
block; thence westerly along the northern boundaries of
Sections 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, and 20 of Block XI, Thames
Survey District, to and by a right line across the Kopuarahi–
Kerepeehi Road; thence along the northern and western
boundaries of Section 1, Block II, Waihou Survey District;
thence in a westerly direction along the northern boundaries
of Kopuarahi 2D 1 and 3A 2D 2C Blocks to the centre of
the Piako River; thence on the west by a line down the
centre of the Piako River to the point of commencement.

Turua Riding.

All that area in the Auckland Land District, Hauraki Plains
County, bounded towards the north by a line commencing
at the south-west corner of Kaipapaka Block; thence pro-
ceeding easterly along the southern boundary of Kopuarahi
Riding to the centre of the Waihou River; thence on the
east following up the centre of said river in a southerly
direction to a point the production of the southern boundary
of Lot 105 on plan No. 8123 deposited in the office of the
District Land Registrar, Auckland; thence on the south
proceeding in a westerly direction along the southern bound-
aries of Lots 105, 104, 103, 102, 101, 99 on plan aforesaid;
thence on the west proceeding in a northerly direction along
the western boundaries of Lots 97, 95, 93, 91, 89 on plan
aforesaid and Kuranui No. 2 Block, and by Lots 59, 57, 55,
53, 51, 49, 47, 45, 43, 41, 39, 37, 35, 33, 31, 29, 27, and 25 on
plan No. 7492 deposited in the office of the District Land
Registrar, Auckland; and along the eastern boundaries of
Lots 3 and 2 of Section 7, Block II, Waihou Survey District,
and Section 14, Block XI, Thames Survey District, to the
point of commencement.

Horahia Riding.

All that area in the Auckland Land District, Hauraki Plains
County, bounded towards the north by the Kopuarahi Riding;
towards the east by the Turua Riding to the south-eastern
corner of Horahia–Ōpou No. 1 Block; towards the south by
the southern boundary of the said block to the centre of
the Piako River; thence towards the west by a line down the
centre of the said river to its intersection with the south-
western corner of Kopuarahi Riding, the point of com-
mencement.

Kerepeehi Riding.

All that area in the Auckland Land District, Hauraki Plains
County, bounded towards the north by the Horahia Riding;
towards the east and again towards the north by the Turua
Riding; again towards the east by a line up the centre of
the Waihou River to a point in line with the southern
boundary of Te Arawhakapekapeka Block (L.T. 6455A);
thence in a westerly direction to and along the southern
boundary of the said block and of Te Awaiiti 2C 1; thence
in a southerly direction along the eastern boundaries of Te
Awaiiti 2C 1, 2C 2, and 2C 3 Blocks, and along the northern
and western boundaries of Te Awaiiti 2C 4 Block and Sec-
tion 29 of Block XI, Waihou Survey District; thence in a
south-westerly direction along the north-western boundary
of Lots 1 and 2, Te Awaiiti 1J 2B 3 until it intersects the
southern boundary-line of Block XI of the Waihou Survey
District; thence towards the south proceeding in a westerly
direction by the southern boundary-lines of Blocks XI and
X of the said Waihou Survey District to the centre of the
Piako River; thence towards the west by a line proceeding
in a northerly direction down the centre of the Piako River
to and through the centre of the Waikaka Cut, and again
down the centre of the Piako River to the point of com-
ment, the south-western corner of the Horahia Riding.

Netherton Riding.

All that area in the Auckland Land District, Hauraki Plains
County, bounded towards the north-west by the Kerepeehi
Riding; towards the east by the county boundary; towards
the south by the Tahuna Riding; and towards the west by
a line commencing at a point where the northern boundary
of Block II, Waitoa Survey District, meets the centre of the
Piako River; and proceeding in a northerly direction down
the centre of the Piako River to the point of commence-
ment, the south-western corner of the Kerepeehi Riding.

Tahuna Riding.

All that area in the Auckland Land District, Hauraki Plains
County, bounded towards the north by a line commencing at
the intersection of the south-western boundary of Block XVI,
Piako Survey District, with the county boundary; thence
proceeding in a south-easterly, north-easterly, and southerly
direction along the said block-line; thence southerly along
the western boundaries of Sections 2 and 4 (bush reserve) of
Block IV, Hapuakohe Survey District; thence easterly along
the southern boundary of the said Section 4 and the south-
eastern and south-western boundaries of Section 5, Block IV,
Hapuakohe Survey District; thence along the south-western
boundaries of Sections 5 and 4, Block I, Waitoa Survey Dis-
trict; thence across the Waitakaruru–Morrinsville Road and
along the northern boundaries of Lots 5, 6, and 24 shown on
plan No. 13425 deposited in the office of the District Land
Registrar at Auckland, across the Maukoro Deviation Road,
and along the northern boundaries of Lots 15, 16, 17, 18,
and 23 shown on aforesaid plan, and that boundary produced
to the centre of the Piako River; thence down centre of said
river to the northern boundary-line of Waitoa Survey Dis-
trict; thence easterly along said line to the south-west
boundary of Te Awaiiti No. 1J 2B 4 Block; thence south-
easterly along south-western boundaries of said block and
Te Awaiiti No. 1B 2B 3 Block; thence along south-eastern
boundary of last said block to the northern boundary of
Waitoa Survey District aforesaid; thence easterly by said
boundary to the Hauraki Plains County boundary; and
towards the east, south, and west by the said county boundary
to the point of commencement.

Patetonga Riding.

All that area in the Auckland Land District, Hauraki Plains
County, bounded generally towards the north by a line
commencing at a point where the southern boundary of
Block XI, Piako Survey District, intersects the western
boundary of the county; thence proceeding easterly along
the southern boundary of Section 15 (forest reserve), Block XI,
Piako Survey District, and of Sections 3 and 4, Block XII,
Piako Survey District; thence southerly along the western
boundaries of Sections 8 and 9 of the said Block XII; again
in an easterly direction along the southern boundaries of
Sections 9, 10, and 11 of the said Block XII to and across
the Waitakaruru–Morrinsville Road, and along the southern
boundary of Ngarua 1B 3B Block; thence southerly along
the western boundary of Section 20, and along the southern
boundaries of Sections 20, 19, and 18 of the said Block XII;
thence along the southern boundaries of Sections 4, 5, 6, 17,
16, 14, of Block IX, Waihou Survey District; thence by a
right line to the centre of the Piako River at a point where
it is met by the centre of the northern end of the Waikaka
Cut; and bounded towards the east by the Kerepeehi and
