This license does not authorize the holder thereof to take or kill red-deer stags on lands actually and exclusively used by any registered acclimatization society for acclimatization purposes, or on any sanctuary or public domain, or on any land excepted from the operation of the notification declaring an open season for the district.

Open Season for Fallow-deer Shooting, Otago Acclimatization District, Blue Mountains and District (Crookston and Rankleburn Survey Districts).
IN exercise of the powers vested in me by the Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921–22 (hereinafter referred to as “the said Act”), I, William Downie Stewart, Minister of Internal Affairs of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare the period from the 30th day of March, 1923, to the 15th day of May, 1923 (both days inclusive), to be an open season in the Otago Acclimatization District for the taking or killing of the following imported game—viz., fallow-deer bucks—within that part of the said acclimatization district described in the First Schedule hereto, subject to the following conditions.
CONDITIONS.

LICENSES to take or kill fallow-deer bucks may be issued by the Chief Postmaster at Dunedin, and the Postmaster at Tapanui, on the recommendation of the secretary of the Otago Acclimatization Society, on payment of a license fee of £2, in the form prescribed in the Second Schedule hereto, and subject to the said Act and regulations thereunder and this notification. Provided that not more than one such license shall be issued to the same person.

No licensee shall take or kill more than two bucks, and no buck shall be killed carrying antlers with less than fourteen points on a palmate of less than 4 in. Ball cartridge only to be used; provided that no metal-patched or metal-cased bullet shall be used for killing such deer.

No doe or fawn shall be taken or killed on any pretext whatever, and no licensee shall allow any dog to accompany either himself or any attendant he may have with him.

Nothing herein contained shall extend to authorizing any person to sell any deer or portion thereof.

Nothing in any license to take or kill fallow-deer bucks shall authorize the holder thereof to take or kill fallow-deer bucks on lands actually and exclusively used by any registered acclimatization society for acclimatization purposes, or on any sanctuary or public domain, or on any land excepted from the operation of the notification declaring an open season for the district.

The licensee must give notice to the said Chief Postmaster or the said Postmaster of the date on which it is his intention to stalk deer; such notice to be posted, or delivered, or telegraphed three clear days before such date.

Any person committing a breach of any of these conditions is liable, on conviction, to a fine of £20.

, of , having this day paid the sum of £2, is hereby authorized to take or kill two fallow-deer bucks, of not less than fourteen points on a palmate of less than 4 in., within that part of the Otago Acclimatization District known as the Blue Mountains and district (Crookston and Rankleburn Survey Districts), from the day of , 1923, to the day of , 1923 (both days inclusive), subject to the provisions of the Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921–22, and all regulations and notifications affecting fallow-deer bucks made thereunder and in force within the said district.
This license does not authorize the holder thereof to take or kill fallow-deer bucks on lands actually and exclusively used by any registered acclimatization society for acclimatization purposes, or on any sanctuary or public domain, or on any land excepted from the operation of the notification declaring an open season for the district.

IN exercise of the powers vested in me by the Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921–22 (hereinafter referred to as “the said Act”), I, William Downie Stewart, Minister of Internal Affairs of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare the period from the 31st day of March, 1923, to the 20th day of May, 1923 (both days inclusive), to be an open season in the Otago Acclimatization District for the taking or killing of the following imported game—viz., red-deer stags within that part of the said acclimatization district described in the First Schedule hereto, subject to the following conditions.
CONDITIONS.

Regulations as to deer “tags,” contained in the New Zealand Gazette of the 20th May, 1909, page 1408, shall be strictly adhered to by each licensee, who, in addition thereto, shall return all unused “tags” to the secretary of the Otago Acclimatization Society, Dunedin, immediately he has finished stalking for the season for which such “tags” have been issued, together with a statement of the number of deer shot.

Nothing in any license to take or kill red-deer stags shall authorize the holder thereof to take or kill red-deer stags on lands actually and exclusively used by any registered acclimatization society for acclimatization purposes, or on any sanctuary or public domain, or on any land excepted from the operation of the notification declaring an open season for the district.
