Special Order made by the Ohinemuri County Council altering
the Boundaries of Ridings and adjusting Representation.

THE following special order, made by the Ohinemuri
County Council, is published in accordance with the
provisions of the Counties Act, 1920. Pursuant to section 100
of that Act, as amended by section 3 of the Counties Amend-
ment Act, 1921–22, I hereby fix the 31st day of March, 1923,
as the date from which the special order shall take effect.

OHINEMURI COUNTY COUNCIL.
SPECIAL ORDER.
In exercise of the powers conferred on it by section 23 of the
Counties Act, 1920, the County Council resolves, by way of
special order, as follows :—
-
The present division of the County of Ohinemuri into
six ridings is revoked, and in lieu thereof the said county
shall be divided into seven ridings, to be called respectively
Paeroa Riding, Karangahake Riding, Mangaiti Riding, Waikino
Riding, Waihi Riding, Waitekauri Riding, and Kaimanawa
Riding, which said ridings are respectively described in the
Schedule hereto. -
The said Ohinemuri County Council shall consist of nine
members, who shall be elected as follows :—
(a.) The electors of the Paeroa Riding and the Kaimanawa
Riding shall each elect two Councillors :
(b.) The electors of the Karangahake Riding, the Mangaiti
Riding, the Waikino Riding, the Waihi Riding, and the
Waitekauri Riding shall each elect one Councillor.
- The alteration hereby made shall take effect on and
after the 1st day of January, 1923.
SCHEDULE.
Paeroa Riding.
All that area in the Auckland Land District, Ohinemuri
County, commencing at the middle of the Waihou River
near the confluence of the said river and the Komata River ;
then in an easterly direction to and by the said Komata
River to the west boundary of Section 13, Block X, Ohine-
muri Survey District ; then by the said west and north-west
boundaries of said Section 13 ; then by the east boundary
of said Section 13, the abutment of a road, and east boundaries
of Sections 14 and 3 of aforesaid Block X to the north-east
boundary of Section 19, Block XIV, Ohinemuri Survey
District ; by the said north-east boundary and the south-east
boundary of said Section 19 across a road, and the south-west
boundary of said Section 19 to the road forming the south
boundary of Section 3 aforesaid ; then by the south side of
said road to the east boundary of Watershed Reserve ; then
by said east boundary to Trig. Station No. 61, Puketawa ;
then by a right line to the north-east corner of Section 2,
Uriwha Native Reserve ; then by the north and part of
west boundaries of said reserve to the north boundary of
Section 34, Block XIII, Ohinemuri Survey District, and by
said north boundary to the north-east boundary of Section
13 of aforesaid block, and by the said boundary and its pro-
duction to the centre of the Tarariki Stream ; then down
the centre of that stream to its confluence with the centre of
the Ohinemuri River ; then by the centre of said river in
a south direction to a point the production of the south-east
boundary of the Ouerangi Block ; then by a right line to
and by the south-east boundary of last said block and the
south-east boundary of Pareroiroi Block ; then by the north-
east and east boundaries of Otamaurunganui C Block, and the
last-mentioned boundary produced to the centre of the old
Te Aroha Road ; then southerly by the centre of said road
to a point the production of the south boundary of Rotokohu
No. 1A Block ; then by a right line to and by the said south
boundary and west boundary of last said block, and by part
of the south boundary of the Otamaurunganui A, and the
south and part of the west boundary of Takapau Block, and
the south boundaries of Piraurahi No. 3A and Te Horo Blocks,
and the last said block boundary produced to the centre of
the Waihou River ; thence northerly by the centre of said
river and canal reserves to the point of commencement :
excepting from the above-described area the Borough of
Paeroa as described in the New Zealand Gazette of the 9th
September, 1915, page 3182.
Karangahake Riding.
All that area in the Auckland Land District, Ohinemuri
County, commencing at a point in the centre of the Waihou
River, the south-west corner of the Paeroa Riding above
described ; then towards the north generally by the afore-
said Paeroa Riding to Trig. Station 61, Puketawa ; then
by part of the eastern boundaries of the Paeroa and Karanga-
hake Watershed Reserves, by the northern boundaries of
Sections 44 and 51, Block XIV, Ohinemuri Survey District,
by the eastern boundary of the last said section to the north-
west corner of Section 29, Block XIV aforesaid, by the south-
west and part of south-east boundary of Section 29 aforesaid,
by the Owharoa Block, to a point the production of the
north-west boundary of Section 17, Block XIV aforesaid ;
then by a right line across a road to and by the north-west
boundary of said Section 17 ; then by the south-west
boundary of said Section 17 and the production of said boundary
to the middle of the Ohinemuri River ; then by the centre
of the aforesaid river in a westerly direction to a point the
production of the east boundary of Section 15, Block II,
Aroha Survey District ; then by a right line to and by the
said eastern boundary of Section 15 ; then by the western
boundaries of sections 36 and 34 of said Block II, and by the
last said boundary produced across a road to and by the
northern boundary of Section 16, and by the west boundary
of last said section ; then by the north, west, and south-
west boundaries of Section 35 of aforesaid Block II, and that
boundary produced to the centre of the Waitawheta Stream ;
then up the said stream to a point the production of the west
boundary of Section 54, Block II aforesaid, by a right line
to and by said west boundary, and the west and south
boundaries of Section 4, Block VI, Aroha Survey District, to
the centre of the Waitawheta Stream ; then up the centre
of said stream to the south-east boundary of the Ohinemuri
County ; then in a south-west direction by said county
boundary to the east boundary of forest reserve ; then by
said east and north boundaries of said forest reserve and
the east boundaries of Section 121, Block IX, Aroha Survey
District, and Sections 3 and 2, Block VI, Aroha Survey Dis-
trict, Sections 24 and 23, Block V, Aroha Survey District,
and Sections 17 and 16, Block I, Aroha Survey District, and
by the northern and western boundaries of last said section,
and the north-east and north-west boundaries of Section 20,
Block I aforesaid, and northern boundaries of Pukemokemoke
and Mangamutu Nos. 2 and 1 Blocks, and the last said
boundary produced to the centre of the Waihou River ;
then by the west boundary of Ohinemuri County to the place
of commencement.
Mangaiti Riding.
All that area in the Auckland Land District, Ohinemuri
County, commencing at a point in the centre of the Waihou
River, the south-west corner of Karangahake Riding above
described ; then towards the north and east generally by
the aforesaid riding to the Ohinemuri County boundary ;
then towards the south and west by the Ohinemuri County
boundary to the place of commencement.
Waikino Riding.
All that area in the Auckland Land District, Ohinemuri
County, commencing at the westernmost corner of the Wai-
kino Water-supply Reserve ; then by the northern bound-
ary of said water-supply reserve and the Mangakara Stream
to its confluence with the Waitekauri River, and by the centre
of the last said river to the middle of the old Tauranga Road ;
then by the middle of said road to a point in the centre of
the Ohinemuri River ; then westerly by the centre of said
river to a point the production of the south-west boundary
of Section 55, Block XV, Ohinemuri Survey District ; then
by a right line to and by the said south-west boundary, across
a road, and by the west boundary of Section 6, Block III,
Aroha Survey District, across a road, and by the south-west
boundaries of Sections 22 and 10, Block III aforesaid, across
a road, and by the south-west boundaries of Sections 13, 1B,
and 3 of the aforesaid Block (Native reserve), and south-east
boundary of last said reserve, and the south-west boundaries
of Sections 26 and 9 of Block IV, Aroha Survey District, and
the last boundary produced to the south-east boundary of
the Ohinemuri County ; then by the said south-east county
boundary to the Karangahake Riding before described,
and by the last said riding boundary to the place of com-
mencement.
