of New Zealand meat, the Governor-General may, acting
under the powers conferred on him by the Customs Act, 1913,
and its amendments, prohibit the export from New Zealand
of any meat save in accordance with the determination in
that behalf of the Board :
And whereas it is expedient to exercise such powers with
respect to the meat of lambs as hereinafter provided :
Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers
and authorities conferred upon him by the Meat-export
Control Act, 1921–1922, and by the Customs Act, 1913,
and its amendments, and of every other power and
authority enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency
the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand,
acting by and with the advice and consent of the Execu-
tive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby prohibit
from and after the gazetting of this Order in Council the
export from New Zealand of meat being the carcass or
carcasses of any lamb or lambs (whether such meat is in its
natural state or has been subjected to any freezing, chilling,
salting, or other preservative process) save in accordance with
the determination in that behalf of the said New Zealand
Meat-producers Board.
“Lamb” in this Order shall include lamb usually so called,
and any animal the progeny of sheep which is killed as lamb
or the meat of which is intended to be sold as lamb.

Notification relating to Order in Council prohibiting the
Export of Lamb.
IT is hereby notified, for public information, that under the
above Order in Council the New Zealand Meat Producers
Board as at present advised intends by resolution to resolve
and determine as follows :—
(1.) Meat being the carcass or carcasses of any lamb or
lambs slaughtered prior to the 8th day of January, 1923, may
be exported from New Zealand.
(2.) Meat being the carcass or carcasses of any lamb or
lambs slaughtered after the said date, which after killing and
preparation for market without the removal of the kidneys
and kidney-fat are of the net freezing-weight of 42 lb. or
under, may be exported from New Zealand if the kidneys and
kidney-fat shall be retained in and form part of each carcass.
(3.) Meat being the carcass or carcasses of any lamb or
lambs slaughtered after the said date, which after killing and
preparation for market without the removal of the kidneys
and kidney-fat are over the net freezing-weight of 42 lb., may
be exported from New Zealand with or without the kidneys
and kidney-fat being retained in and forming part of each
carcass.
(4.) “Lamb” in this resolution shall have the meaning
attributed to the word in the said Order in Council.

Lands in Auckland Land District for Sale or Lease to
Discharged Soldiers.
District Lands and Survey Office,
Auckland, 18th December, 1922.
NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned lands
are open for sale or lease to discharged soldiers under
the Discharged Soldiers Settlement Act, 1915, and the
regulations thereunder; and applications will be received
at the District Lands and Survey Office, Auckland, up to
4 o’clock p.m. on Monday, the 26th day of February, 1923.
The lands may be purchased for cash or on deferred pay-
ments, or selected on lease for a term of sixty-six years, with
right of renewal for further successive terms of sixty-six
years and a right to acquire the freehold.
Applicants must appear personally before the Land Board
for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office,
Auckland, on Wednesday, the 28th day of February, 1923,
at 10.30 o’clock a.m.
The ballot will be held at the conclusion of the examination
of applicants.
SCHEDULE.
AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.—FIRST-CLASS LAND.
Tauranga County.—Tauranga Survey District.
SECTION 1, Block X: Area, 12 acres 2 roods 3 perches;
capital value, £740; annual instalment on deferred payment
(excluding interest), £37; half-yearly rent on lease, £16 13s.
Section 2, Block X; Area, 11 acres 0 roods 8 perches;
capital value, £520; annual instalment on deferred payment
(excluding interest), £26; half-yearly rent on lease, £11 14s.
Section 3, Block X: Area, 7 acres 1 rood 17 perches;
capital value, £500; annual instalment on deferred payment
(excluding interest), £25; half-yearly rent on lease, £11 5s.
These sections are situated from two and a half to three
miles from Tauranga Township wharf, and have a frontage
to Cameron Road. The land is mostly flat to undulating,
with a gully running through Sections 2 and 3. The soil
is of a sandy nature, suitable for market gardening, poultry-
farming, or fruit-growing. Water may be obtained from
the town water-supply. Altitude about 5 ft. to 30 ft. above
sea-level. Tauranga has a direct steamer service from Auck-
land, the journey occupying about eleven hours.
Improvements.—The improvements which are included in
the capital values are as follows: Section 1—thirty-two
chains boundary and internal fencing, plantation and culti-
vation, valued at £41; Section 2—thirty chains boundary
and internal fencing, plantation and cultivation, valued at
£45; Section 3—fifteen chains boundary and internal
fencing, orchard (comprising plum and peach trees), planta-
tions, and water-trough, valued at £127.

Auction.

tion reserves will be offered for lease by public auction
at the Courthouse, Westport, at 11 o’clock a.m. on Wednesday,
21st February, 1923, under the provisions of the Education
Reserves Act, 1908, and amendments, and the Public Bodies’
Leases Act, 1908.
