The Mining Amendment Act, 1914.—Mining Privilege to be struck off the Register.

In the matter of License No. 1/19, for a special quartz claim, dated 18/12/1918, covering an area of 50 acres between the two branches of the Cobb River, in the name of Henry Fox Chaffey.

NOTICE is hereby given, in pursuance of section 30, subsection (4), of the Mining Amendment Act, 1914, that the above-mentioned mining privilege has this day been struck off the Register, no cause to the contrary having been shown within the prescribed period of three months.

Southland Education Board.—Election of Member to fill Extraordinary Vacancy.

IN accordance with the provisions of the Education Act, 1914, and amendments, it is hereby publicly notified that Mr. Andrew Bain has been duly elected to fill the extraordinary vacancy on the Board for the Invercargill Urban Area caused by the death of Mr. John Stead.

The number of valid votes recorded for each candidate was:—

Blake, Frederick George .. .. .. 14
Carlisle, Joseph S. J. .. .. .. 11

The total number of valid votes recorded was 42. The number of voting-papers rejected as informal was nil.

Unclaimed Property.—Notice under Part III of the Public Trust Office Act, 1908.

NOTICE is hereby given that, pursuant to an order of the Supreme Court made at Wellington on the 27th October, 1922, the Public Trustee is authorized to take possession of all the real and personal property of WILLIAM CLAXTON CLARKE, formerly of Papakura, Retired Share-broker, but whose present address is unknown, and to exercise in respect of such property the powers conferred on him by Part III of the Public Trust Office Act, 1908, and that the Public Trustee intends to exercise such powers forthwith.

Notice of Vesting of Land in the Public Trustee under the Public Trust Office Act, 1908, Part II, Unclaimed Lands.

WHEREAS I, the undersigned, the Public Trustee, have, for the purposes of Part II of the Public Trust Office Act, 1908 (relating to unclaimed lands), made due inquiries with respect to the land described in the Schedule hereunder, and the whereabouts of the owner thereof, and have, in respect of the said land, given the notices prescribed by section 66 of that Act, and have in all respects complied with the provisions of that Act pertinent hereto: And whereas I have not thereby ascertained the whereabouts of the owner, and believe that such owner or an agent of such owner is not in the Dominion, nor has such owner established his title to the said land, as required by the said Act: I hereby give notice that the said land is, under and by virtue of the said Act, vested in the Public Trustee as aforesaid, as from the date of the publication hereof, and will be administered under the Public Trust Office Act, 1908, and its amendments, the value of the land for the purposes of section 67 (d) of the said Act being less than £500.
