THE NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE.

of the trades of (1) grocer and (2) draper in the Borough of Sumner shall be closed accordingly.
The notice published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 21st May, 1908, fixing the closing-hours of grocers and general storekeepers’ shops in the Borough of Sumner is hereby cancelled as from the date of the coming into operation of this notice.

The Shops and Offices Act, 1908.—Amended Notice specifying the Combined District of Auckland.
PURSUANT to the provisions of section 13 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, I, George James Anderson, Minister of Labour, do hereby specify that the Combined District of Auckland comprises the City of Auckland, the boroughs of Birkenhead, Devonport, Mount Albert, Mount Eden, Newmarket, Northcote, Onehunga, Takapuna, and Avondale, and the town districts of Ellerslie, Glen Eden, New Lynn, and Henderson.

Incorporated Societies Act, 1908.—Declaration by the Registrar dissolving a Society.
I, DONALD GEORGE CLARK, Registrar of Incorporated Societies, do hereby declare that, as it has been made to appear to me that The Southern West Taupo Settlers Association (Incorporated) is no longer carrying on operations and has no assets, the aforesaid society is hereby dissolved, in pursuance of section 28 of the Incorporated Societies Act, 1908.

THE NEW ZEALAND NAUTICAL ALMANAC AND TIDE-TABLES FOR 1923.

THE New Zealand Nautical Almanac and Tide-tables for the year 1923 has been published, and is on sale at the Government Shipping Offices at Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin, at the Customhouses at other ports, and at some booksellers who stock it within the Dominion.
The publication contains all the usually required astronomical data for navigation purposes; tide predictions for the main ports of New Zealand, and tidal differences relating to ports for which daily predictions have not been provided. Also daily tidal-stream predictions for French Pass and Tory Channel. Latest information (with harbour plans) concerning recent changes in “aids” to navigation for the Dominion harbours and coasts; and supplementary information relating to the “New Zealand Pilot” is given.
The publication also contains the latest and most important General Notice to Mariners issued by the Imperial Board of Trade; many tables useful to mariners and others; standard times of the world; principal articles of the calendar, holidays, &c.; instructions re drowning accidents, and the use of the rocket apparatus; flags of the International Code; Morse code; courses and distances within New Zealand and overseas; storm signals; phases of the moon; daily sunrise and sunset tables for Auckland, Wellington, and Nelson; planets and stars visible during each month; problems in coastal navigation; bar harbour signals; chronometer-rating time service; Dominion lighthouses; precise magnetic variation; latest corrected charts; and much information of use to navigators and to the general public of the Dominion collated to October, 1922.

EAST CAPE.—ALTERATION IN LIGHT.

MARINERS are hereby notified that on and after the evening of Friday, 15th December, 1922, the temporary light which recently has been exhibited at East Cape will be discontinued, and in lieu of which will be exhibited a light having the following characteristics: Light, flashing, 10 seconds, 505 ft. (154 m.), visible 30 miles.
The light, which will be shown from a white-painted circular iron tower 34·7 ft. (10·6 m.) in height, is situated 627 ft. inshore from M.H.W.S. on the seaward side of the hill overlooking the northern side of East Cape (Otiki), and marked 476 on Admiralty Chart No. 3500; and is situated 276·5°, distant 1·42 miles from its former position on East Cape Island.
The arc of visibility is uninterrupted between 153·5° and 026·5° other than vessels rounding East Cape Island within a radius of 7 miles, to which vessels the light will be eclipsed by a portion of East Cape Island varying with the tide, the observer’s height, and the distance between the island and such vessels.
Also, an arc of 5·5° (approx.) will be visible to the north-westward of the light through a gap, the centre of which bears 143°. The amount of arc to be seen through the gap varying slightly with the tide and the observer’s height and his distance from the light.
The signal-station and exhibition of storm signals have been discontinued.

NAUTICAL ALMANAC.—ERRATA.

INFORMATION is hereby given that the sector of Taiaroa Heads light, shown on the plan of Otago Harbour facing page 270 of the Nautical Almanac, 1923, has been printed red; whereas by perusal of the printed characteristics superimposed it will be seen that the light is white, flashing, 2 flashes every 10 seconds.

GISBORNE ROADSTEAD.—BUOY ON TEMOANA ROCK.

MARINERS are hereby warned that the buoy exhibiting a red flashing light which marks Temoana Rock in Gisborne Roadstead will be removed for overhaul on or about the 22nd January, 1923.
A substitute buoy, being black and unlighted, will mark the rock temporarily.
