Inspectors for the Purposes of the Stock Act, 1908, appointed.

THE Public Service Commissioner has made the following appointments in the Public Service:—

to be Inspectors for the purposes of the Stock Act, 1908, as from the 15th day of December, 1922.

Commissioner of the Supreme Court appointed.

CECIL JAMES WRAY, Esquire, of Piccadilly, London, a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England, has this day been appointed by the Right Honourable Sir Robert Stout, P.C., K.C.M.G., Chief Justice of New Zealand, a Commissioner of the Supreme Court of New Zealand in England, under the 47th section of the Judicature Act, 1908, for the purpose of administering and taking all such oaths, affidavits, and affirmations as in the said section mentioned.

Thomas Hugh Mitchell to be 2nd Lieutenant (5th C. Battalion). Dated 1st December, 1922.

Captain K. McKenzie-Muirson, M.C. (5th C. Battalion), is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), R.D. 10. Dated 8th December, 1922.

Lieutenant J. Niven (10th C. Battalion) resigns his commission. Dated 13th November, 1922.

With reference to the notice appearing in the New Zealand Gazette No. 35, of 4th May, 1922, relating to the transfer of 2nd Lieutenant E. L. Loyd, for the words “(9th C. Battalion)” read “(10th C. Battalion).”

The commission granted Lieutenant J. G. McG. Nutt, Reserve of Officers (temp.), is cancelled, under section 5 (a), the Defence Act, 1909. Dated 20th September, 1922.

THE following notice, received from the Mayor of the Council of the Borough of Whangarei, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913.

Results of Loan Proposals.

PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of Whangarei was taken on the 4th day of December, 1922, on the proposal of the Whangarei Borough Council to borrow the following loans:—

No. 1 Loan.—For the permanent improvement of Kamo Road, Maunu Road, Mill Road, Rust Lane, Kensington Avenue, Norfolk Street, James Street, and the construction of a full-width concrete bridge to replace the Water Street Bridge, £25,750 : For the proposal, 397 ; against the proposal, 264 ; informal, 77.

No. 2 Loan.—For extension of Whau Waterworks Reservoir and acquisition of necessary land, £5,860 : For the proposal, 472 ; against the proposal, 193 ; informal, 73.

No. 3 Loan.—For acquisition and construction of No. 1 Route, Western Outlet Road, £18,750 : For the proposal, 220 ; against the proposal, 437 ; informal, 81.

No. 4 Loan.—For acquisition of recreation reserve, part Cafler’s and Marshall’s Subdivision, Cafler’s Avenue, £1,590 : For the proposal, 277 ; against the proposal, 365 ; informal, 96.

No. 5 Loan.—For acquisition of recreation reserve, part Raumanga No. 1 Block, adjoining Te Mai Road, £1,735 : For the proposal, 261 ; against the proposal, 386 ; informal, 91.

No. 6 Loan.—For financing drainage installation to properties within the borough, £1,000 : For the proposal, 490 ; against the proposal, 169 ; informal, 79.

No. 7 Loan.—For the permanent improvement of Kensington Park, £3,000 : For the proposal, 308 ; against the proposal, 321 ; informal, 109.

I therefore declare that proposals Nos. 1, 2, and 6 were carried, and that proposals Nos. 3, 4, 5, and 7 were rejected. Dated this 7th day of December, 1922.
