Reserve in Taranaki Land District for Lease by Public Tender.
District Lands and Survey Office,
New Plymouth, 24th October, 1922.
N OTICE is hereby given that written tenders will be
received at the District Lands and Survey Office,
New Plymouth, up to 4 o'clock p.m. on Friday, the 24th
November, 1922, for a lease of the undermentioned section,
under the provisions of the Public Reserves and Domains
Act, 1908, and amendments.
SCHEDULE.
SECTION 25, Village of Tongaporutu (Signal-station Reserve):
Area, 7 acres 0 roods 20 perches; upset annual rent, £7; term,
five years.
ABSTRACT OF TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF LEASE.
- Tenders must be accompanied by marked cheque or
post-office order for six months' rent at the rate offered,
together with £1 ls. lease fee. - Residence is not compulsory, and no statutory declaration
is required. No compensation shall be claimed by the lessee,
nor shall any be allowed by the Government, on account of
any improvements effected by the lessee nor for any other
cause. - Possession will be given on the day of acceptance of
tender. - The lease shall be for the term of five years, but shall be
subject to termination by twelve months' notice in the event
of the land being required by the Government. - The rent shall be payable half-yearly in advance, free
from all deductions whatsoever. - The lessee shall have no right to sublet, transfer, or
otherwise dispose of the land comprised in the lease except
with the written consent of the Commissioner of Crown
Lands first had and obtained. - The lessee shall not take more than two crops, one of
which must be a root-crop, from the same land in succession;
and either with or immediately after a second crop of any kind
he shall sow the land down with good permanent cultivated
grasses and clovers. - The lessee shall prevent the growth and spread of gorse,
broom, and sweetbrier on the land comprised in the lease;
and he shall with all reasonable despatch remove, or cause to
be removed, all gorse, sweetbrier, broom, or other noxious
weeds or plants as may be directed by the Commissioner of
Crown Lands; and he shall, at the proper season in each
year, clip and trim all gorse and other live fences on the land
included in the lease. - The lessee will keep all buildings, fences, ditches, drains,
watercourses, gates, fixtures, and other things upon and about
the land in good order and condition. - The lessee shall at the expiration of the term yield up
the whole of the land in permanent pasture of grasses and
clovers. - The lease shall be liable to forfeiture in case the lessee
shall fail to fulfil any of the conditions of the said lease within
thirty days after the day on which the same ought to be ful-
filled. - Any officer in the Government service acting in the
execution of his duty shall at all times have free ingress, egress,
and regress, into, through, over, and out of the reserve
without let or hindrance.
The reserve is described for the general information of
intending bidders, who are recommended, nevertheless, to
make a personal inspection, as the Department is not re-
sponsible for the absolute accuracy of any description.
Form of lease may be perused and full particulars obtained
at this office.

Land in Hawke's Bay Land District for Sale or Lease to
Discharged Soldiers.
District Lands and Survey Office,
Napier, 24th October, 1922.
N OTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned lands
are open for sale or lease to discharged soldiers under
the Discharged Soldiers Settlement Act, 1915, and the regu-
lations thereunder; and applications will be received at the
District Lands and Survey Office, Napier, and the Local Lands
Office, Gisborne, up to 4 o'clock p.m. on Thursday, the 30th
day of November, 1922.
The land may be purchased for cash or on deferred pay-
ments, or selected on lease for a term of sixty-six years, with
right of renewal for further successive terms of sixty-six years
and a right to acquire the freehold.
Applicants must appear personally before the Land Board
for examination at the Local Lands Office, Gisborne, on
Friday, 1st December, 1922, at 10.30 o'clock a.m., or at the
District Lands and Survey Office, Napier, on Thursday, the
14th day of December, 1922, at 10.30 o'clock a.m.
The ballot will be held at the District Lands and Survey
Office, Napier, at the conclusion of the examination of appli-
cants there on the 14th December.
SCHEDULE.
HAWKE'S BAY LAND DISTRICT.-SECOND-CLASS LAND.
Waikohu County.-Motu Survey District.
SECTION 41, Block II : Area, 47 acres 0 roods 23 perches;
capital value, £470 ; annual instalment on deferred payment
(excluding interest), £23 10s.; half-yearly rent on lease,
£10 11s. 6d.
The land is situated about thirty chains distant from Motu
Village by a good well-formed road. Motu Village is about
fifty-two miles from Gisborne, and three miles from Motuhora
Railway-station.
The area comprises about 8 acres of low hill and terrace
land, situated in the north-west portion ; the remainder being
flat, of which 10 acres is easily drained swamp. The section
is well watered by permanent streams and springs. The
soil is good, and lies on sandy clay subsoil. The area is
covered with light bush, principally tawa. All milling-timber
has been removed.

Pastoral Run in Canterbury Land District open for License.

Christchurch, 24th October, 1922.
N OTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned pastoral
run is open for license for a term of thirty-five years
under the provisions of the Land Act, 1908, and its amend-
ments; and applications will be received at the District
Lands and Survey Office, Christchurch, up to 4 o'clock p.m.
on Monday, the 11th day of December, 1922.
Applicants must appear personally before the Land Board
for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office,
Christchurch, on Thursday, the 14th day of December, at
10 o'clock a.m.; but if any applicant so desires, he may be
examined by the Land Board of any other district.
The ballot will be held at the conclusion of examination
of applicants.
SCHEDULE.
ASHBURTON COUNTY.-HERON, SOMERS, AND ALFORD SURVEY
DISTRICTS.-NATIONAL ENDOWMENT.
RUN 115A (Clent Hills): Area, 30,100 acres. Half-yearly
rent, £200. Term, thirty-five years.
Weighted with £415, valuation for improvements. This
amount must be paid in cash on the applicant being declared
successful, or if a discharged soldier is successful it may be
paid out of advances.
About 8,000 acres flat and undulating, remainder very
steep and broken hills. Altitude, 2,276 ft. to 7,248 ft. Well
watered. Fair tussock feed on the lower slopes, but little
or no vegetation on the high tops.
The improvements that go with the land comprise about
thirty miles of boundary and subdivional fences and two
huts, the total value of which is £1,273 9s. Access is by
good road (which crosses the Ashburton River twice), twenty-
three miles from Mount Somers Railway-station.

by Public Auction.

N OTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned
education reserve will be offered for lease by public
auction for a term of twenty-one years, with the perpetual
right of renewal for further successive terms of twenty-one
years, at the Local Lands Office, Gisborne, at 11 o'clock a.m.
on Thursday, the 14th day of December, 1922, under the
provisions of the Education Reserves Act, 1908, and the Public
Bodies' Leases Act, 1908, and amendments.
