New Zealand Inscribed Stock Act, 1917.-Closing of Registers.
NOTICE is hereby given that the Register of New Zealand
4½ per-Cent. Inscribed Stock, maturing 15th November,
1938, and the Register of New Zealand 5 per-Cent.
Inscribed Stock, maturing 15th November, 1927, will be
closed from the 1st November to the 15th November, 1922,
inclusive, for the purpose of the issue of half-yearly interest.

Results of Polls for Proposed Loans.

THE following notices, received from the Chairman of the
Council of the County of Whakatane, are published
in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies' Loans
Act, 1913.

WHAKATANE COUNTY COUNCIL.
Results of Polls on Proposals to raise Loans.
Matata Cattle-tick Dip Loan of £900.
PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies' Loans Act,
1913, I hereby give notice that a poll of the ratepayers of
the County of Whakatane (Matata District) was taken on
the 14th day of October, 1922, on the proposal of the Whaka-
tane County Council to borrow the sum of nine hundred
pounds (£900) for the purpose of erecting two cattle-tick
dips and purchase of the necessary land, as authorized by
section 203 of the Counties Act, 1920.
The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 26, and
the number of votes recorded against the proposal was nil.
I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.
Rangitaiki Plains Cattle-tick Dip Loan of £3,000.
PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies' Loans Act,
1913, I hereby give notice that a poll of the ratepayers of
the County of Whakatane (over the Rangitaiki Plains
Cattle-tick Dip Special Rating Area) was taken on the 14th
day of October, 1922, on the proposal of the Whakatane
County Council to borrow the sum of three thousand pounds
(£3,000) for the purpose of erecting seven cattle-tick dips
and purchase of the necessary land, as authorized by sec-
tion 203 of the Counties Act, 1920.
The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 82, and
the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 24.
I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

Notice as to an Area in the Taranaki Land District declared to
be a Fire District.
PURSUANT to section 27 of the Forests Act, 1921-22, I
do hereby notify that, on the recommendation of the
Director of Forestry and the Land Board of the district, the
area described in the Schedule hereto is hereby declared by
me to be a fire district; and I do further specify the period
from the 1st day of November in any year to the 31st day of
March in the following year, inclusive, as the period during
which it shall not be lawful for any person within the said
district, save pursuant to the written permit of a Forest
Officer, to set on fire, or cause to be set on fire, any timber
(whether standing or not), or any undergrowth, or any debris
from forest operations or land-clearing operations, or any
grass or other specially inflammable material, without taking
such precautions as may be prescribed by a Forest Officer.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that area of land in the Wellington Conservation Region
bounded as follows : Commencing at the junction of the Okau
Road and the Tongaporutu-Mangaroa Road, and bounded
towards the north generally by the last-mentioned road to
its junction with the Ohura Road at Ohura Township; and
towards the east and south generally by the Ohura Road to
its junction with the Moki Road; thence by the last-men-
tioned road to its junction with the Maungapapa Road;
thence by this road to the Mount Dampier Road and its
continuation to the Okau Road, and by the last-mentione
road to the point of commencement. As the same is more
particularly delineated on atlases 51, 52, and 61, deposited
in the Head Office, State Forest Service, at Wellington, and
thereon bordered red.

mencing at the most northerly point being the intersection of
the north-eastern boundary of the northern portion of State
Forest No. 42 with the Whakapapa River, and running in a
south-easterly direction, and bounded towards the west
generally by the aforesaid State forest to the most northerly
point of Taurewa No. 2B Block; thence by a straight line
to Okupata Trig., and continuing in a north-easterly direction
along the boundary of State Forest No. 42 to its intersection
with its northern boundary; thence in an easterly direction
along the last-mentioned boundary and bounded on the
north by Okahukura Block to its intersection with the northern
boundary of the Tongariro National Park, and continuing
along the northern boundary of the aforesaid national park
to its intersection with the boundary of State Forest No. 52 ;
thence by the boundary of the last-mentioned forest as
described in the New Zealand Gazette of the 18th January,
1900, page 104, to its most south-westerly point which is its
intersection with the boundary of the aforementioned national
park; thence in a south-westerly direction along the last-
mentioned boundary to its intersection with the northern
boundary of State Forest No. 40; thence in an easterly
direction to its intersection with its eastern boundary; thence
in a south-westerly direction along the last-mentioned bound-
ary dividing Rangiwaea No. 4F 15 and No. 4F 19 Blocks, and
continuing along the last-mentioned dividing-line to the
eastern boundary of Rangiwaea Block, and running in a
south-westerly direction along the last-mentioned block to
its intersection with the North Island Main Trunk Railway,
and continuing along the northern bank of the said railway
to a point of intersection formed by the prolongation of the
eastern boundary of a scenic reserve in Block VI, Karioi
Survey District, continuing in a south-westerly direction and
bounded on the west by the aforementioned railway and
scenic reserve; thence in a north-westerly direction along
the boundary of the last-mentioned scenic reserve to its
intersection with the Waiakaki Stream, and in a northerly
direction along the eastern bank of Waiakaki Stream to the
northern bank of the North Island Main Trunk Railway, and
continuing along the said railway to its intersection with the
Mangaehuhu Stream; thence in a southerly direction along
the said stream; thence in a south-westerly direction generally
and bounded on the south by Section 4, Block V, Karioi
Survey District; thence in a northerly direction to the
Rangataua Road, and bounded on the west by Section 25,
Block V aforesaid; thence in an easterly direction along the
last-mentioned road; thence in a south-easterly direction
and bounded on the north-east by the Ohakune Road; thence
in a northerly direction generally to the north bank of the
North Island Main Trunk Railway, and bounded on the west
by Section 34 and Rangataua Township; thence in a north-
westerly direction and bounded on the south by a road parallel
and adjacent to the North Island Main Trunk Railway to a
point of intersection on the Urewera Road, and continuing
in a north-easterly direction along the last-mentioned road
to a point intersected by the prolongation of the northern
boundary of Ohakune Township to the eastern side of the
aforementioned road; thence by the last-mentioned boundary
to its intersection with Mangawhero River; thence in a
south-westerly direction and bounded on the east by the said
river to its intersection with the aforementioned railway, and
continuing along the railway to an intersection formed by the
prolongation of the north-western boundary of Lot 1, and
continuing in a south-westerly direction along the last-
mentioned boundary to its intersection with a road; thence
running in a north-westerly direction along the said road to
the intersection of the south-western boundary of a scenic
reserve in Block IV, Makotuku Survey District, and con-
tinuing in a north-westerly and north-easterly direction and
bounded on the east by the aforementioned scenic reserve,
the railway, a road, again by the scenic reserve to its inter-
