THE NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE.

Situated on the Wanganui River Road, about seven miles
from Taumarunui by dray-road, which (with the exception
of about half a mile of a loose papa bluff) is generally in fair
condition. The sections comprise flat and undulating fern
and scrub land, practically all ploughable, and could be
cultivated profitably. Soil is of fair quality, resting on clay
and pumice. Watered by small swamps. Elevation ranges
from 600 ft. to 650 ft. above sea-level.
SECOND-CLASS LAND.
Stratford County.—Taurakawa Survey District.
Section 2, Block III: Area, 1,265 acres. Capital value,
£1,270. Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly
rent, £31 15s. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £25 8s.
Situated on the Whakaihuwaka Road. Access from
Whangamomona, about twenty miles distant by dray-road to
the boundary of the section. The land is broken, comprising
high hills and deep valleys covered with heavy forest of tawa,
tawhero, rimu, rata, and a dense undergrowth of mahoe,
kotukutuku, raurekau, hoho, kiekie, tupari, punga, mamaku,
supplejacks, &c. Soil is good, on a formation principally
papa with belts of shell rock. Well watered. Elevation
ranges from 950 ft. to 2,100 ft. above sea-level.

conferred upon me by section twenty of the Land Laws
Amendment Act, 1912, I, John Rushworth, Viscount Jellicoe,
Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby
set apart the land described in the Schedule hereto for dis-
posal under the section of the Act mentioned.

under Section 2 of the Justices of the Peace Amendment Act,
1908.

WHEREAS by section two of the Justices of the Peace
Amendment Act, 1908, it is enacted that any informa-
tion or complaint, and any affidavit of the service of any
summons, authorized by or required for the purpose of the
principal Act may be sworn, taken, or received before or by
either a Justice or the Clerk of the Court constituted under
the Magistrates’ Courts Act, 1908, or the deputy of such
Clerk if such Clerk of Court or deputy has been authorized
so to do by Warrant under the hand of the Governor-General:
Now, therefore, I, John Rushworth, Viscount Jellicoe,
Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pur-
suance and exercise of the power and authority conferred
upon me by section two of the Justices of the Peace Amend-
ment Act, 1908, do hereby authorize the Clerks of the
Magistrates’ Courts holding office for the time being under
the Magistrates’ Courts Act, 1908, at the places mentioned in
the Schedule hereto to take and receive any information or
complaint, and any affidavit of the service of any summons,
as provided in the aforesaid section of the Justices of the
Peace Amendment Act, 1908.

Midwives Acts, 1908.—(H. 68.)

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
conferred upon me by the Nurses Registration Act,
1908, and the Midwives Act, 1908, I, John Rushworth,
Viscount Jellicoe, Governor-General of the Dominion of New
Zealand, do hereby appoint the following persons to be
examiners for the purposes of the above Acts, and prescribe
the undermentioned fees to be paid to the examiners so
appointed for the performance of such duties.

REMUNERATION.
The remuneration for such examiners to be at the rate of—
Medical Men.—Five guineas for setting and correcting
papers for twenty nurses, with one guinea for every ten in
excess of that number; for the practical and oral examination,
half a guinea for each candidate.
Nurses.—A minimum fee of one guinea for four candidates,
and five shillings for each candidate in excess of that number.
