Marine Notices and Miscellaneous Announcements

for observing the usual precautions when navigating in this
locality.

The information contained in the “New Zealand Pilot,”
ninth edition, 1919, pages 280 and 281, states that the water
shoals to less than 5 fathoms at one mile from the western
part of the Spit.

Owing to the nature of the locality, soundings within a
mile of the northern shore of the Spit may be expected to
vary considerably from those shown on the charts, and
vessels rounding the Spit against adverse winds should make
frequent use of the lead on the inshore tack, and go about
when the first shoal cast is obtained.

Charts, &c., affected.—Admiralty Charts Nos. 2616 and
3629; “New Zealand Pilot,” ninth edition, 1919, pages 280
and 281.

B. W. MILLIER, Acting-Secretary.
