HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the appointments, promotions, resignations, and transfers of the undermentioned officers of the N.Z. Staff Corps and Territorial Force.

N.Z. STAFF CORPS.

Lieutenant W. S. Brown, M.C., M.M., is retired, being medically unfit. Dated 11th May, 1922.

3RD N.Z. MOUNTED RIFLES REGIMENT (AUCKLAND).

The appointments of the undermentioned 2nd Lieutenants (on probation) are confirmed :-
C. H. R. Mellso.p. E. M. Henry. F. E. Cooke.

5TH N.Z. MOUNTED RIFLES REGIMENT (OTAGO).

Hon. Lieutenant and Bandmaster H. C. A. Fox, from the Otago Regiment, Ist Battalion, to be Hon. Lieutenant and Bandmaster, with seniority as from 21st May, 1919. Dated 12th May, 1922.

THE N.Z. INFANTRY.

Auckland Regiment.
Lieutenant J. H. Ansell to be Captain (7th C. Battalion). Dated 21st February, 1922.
Lieutenant C. G. Dunham, from the Reserve of Officers, to be Lieutenant (4th Battalion). Dated 5th May, 1922.
2nd Lieutenant W. S. Hill (late N.Z.E.F.) to be 2nd Lieutenant (7th C. Battalion). Dated 9th May, 1922.
Major J. B. Macfarlane is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), R.D. 2. Dated 2nd May, 1922.
Major W. M. Kay, O.B.E., is posted to the Retired List, under the provisions of General Headquarters Instruction No. 56/21. Dated 8th May, 1922.

The commissions granted the undermentioned are cancelled, under section 5 (a) of the Defence Act, 1909. Dated 8th May, 1922 :-
Captain (temp.) J. A. Stewart (1st Battalion). Lieutenant G. W. Coombe (1st Battalion).

The Wellington Regiment.

Lieutenant W. J. R. Christophersen (9th C. Battalion) is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (h), R.D. 5. Dated 11th May, 1922.

The Otago Regiment.

Lieutenant L. J. Nutting, from the Reserve of Officers, to be Lieutenant (1st Battalion). Dated 5th May, 1922.
2nd Lieutenant D. Cuthbertson to be Lieutenant (2nd Battalion). Dated 5th May, 1922.
Alexander Glass to be 2nd Lieutenant (on probation), (2nd Battalion). Dated 9th May, 1922.
Hon. Lieutenant and Bandmaster H. C. A. Fox (1st Battalion) is transferred to the 5th N.Z. Mounted Rifles Regiment (Otago). Dated 12th May, 1922.

N.Z. MEDICAL CORPS.

Lieutenant C. C. Anderson resigns his commission. Dated 9th May, 1922.

N.Z. CHAPLAINS DEPARTMENT.

The Reverend A. B. Todd, Chaplain, 4th Class, to be Chaplain 3rd Class. Dated 12th August, 1921.
The Reverend A. B. Todd, Chaplain, 3rd Class, retires, under the provisions of General Headquarters Instruction No. 35/22 and paragraph 127, General Regulations, 1913. Dated 31st March, 1922.
The Reverend R. B. Tinsley, Chaplain, 4th Class, is transferred to the Reserve List, Class I, R.D. 10. Dated 4th May, 1922.
The Very Reverend T. W. Price, Chaplain, 4th Class, is transferred to the Reserve List, Class II, R.D. 10. Dated 6th May, 1922.

RESERVE OF OFFICERS.

The notice published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 35, of 4th May, 1922, relating to Lieutenant G. Galloway is cancelled.
Lieutenant G. Galloway is posted to the Retired List, under the provisions of General Headquarters Instruction No. 56/21. Dated 3rd April, 1922.

MEMORANDUM.

The commission granted Lieutenant (temp. Captain) E. A. Horan, late Reserve of Officers (temp.), is cancelled, under section 5 (a) of the Defence Act, 1909. Dated 4th May, 1922.

Defence Rifle Club disbanded.

Kohukohu Defence Rifle Club, with headquarters at Kohukohu.

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.

THE following notice, received from the Mayor of the Council of the Borough of Picton, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1913.

BOROUGH OF PICTON.

Result of Poll.-Loan of £4,500.

PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of Picton taken on the 10th day of May, 1922, on a proposal of the Picton Borough Council to borrow the sum of £4,500 for the purpose of completing the sewerage in the No. 2 Special Drainage Area of the town, the number of votes recorded for the proposal was 63, and the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 17; informal vote, 1.

I therefore declare the proposal to borrow the above-named sum to be carried.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the Council of the County of Ohura, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1913.

OHURA COUNTY COUNCIL.

PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1913, I hereby notify that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Waitewhena Special Rating Area taken on Friday, the 21st day of April, 1922, on the proposal of the Ohura County Council to borrow the sum of £13,000 for the following purpose-to complete the reforming, bridging, culverting, and metalling the Waitewhena and Hapura roads-the number of votes recorded was as follows : For the proposal, 34; against the proposal, nil.

I therefore declare the proposal to be carried.
