Shooting Season for Imported Game and Native Game, License
Fee, &c., East Coast Acclimatization District.

In exercise of the powers vested in me by the Animals
Protection and Game Act, 1921-22, I, William Downie
Stewart, Minister of Internal Affairs of the Dominion of New
Zealand, do hereby notify that the following imported game
and native game—viz., cock pheasants, Californian quail,
Australian quail, grey duck, black teal, and black swan—
may be taken or killed within the East Coast Acclimatization
District, comprising the counties of Cook, Waikohu, and
Waiapu, from the first day of May, one thousand nine
hundred and twenty-two, to the thirty-first day of July,
one thousand nine hundred and twenty-two (both days in-
clusive).

And I do further notify that licenses to take or kill such
imported game and native game within the said district
will be issued to any person on payment of the sum of one
pound (£1) each; and the Chief Postmaster at Gisborne is
hereby authorized to sign and issue the said licenses.

And I do hereby restrict the number of such native game
that may be taken or killed by any one person in any one
day to not more than twenty-five head in all.

Nothing in any license to take or kill imported game and
native game shall authorize the holder thereof to take or kill
imported game and native game on lands actually and ex-
clusively used by any registered acclimatization society for
acclimatization purposes, or on any sanctuary or public
domain.

Notice respecting Proposed Alteration of Boundaries, Gonville
Town District and Castlecliff Town District.

Department of Internal Affairs,
Wellington, 3rd May, 1922.

IT is hereby notified that a petition has been presented to
His Excellency the Governor-General, under the Town
Boards Act, 1908, praying that the area described in the
Schedule hereto may be excluded from the Castlecliff Town
District and included in the Gonville Town District. All
persons affected are hereby called upon to lodge any written
objections to or petitions against the proposed alteration
which they desire to lodge within one month from the first
publication of this notice, such objections or petitions to be
addressed to the Minister of Internal Affairs, Wellington.

SCHEDULE.

AREA PROPOSED TO BE EXCLUDED FROM CASTLECLIFF TOWN
DISTRICT AND INCLUDED IN GONVILLE TOWN DISTRICT.

All that area in the Wellington Land District, situated in
Block V, Westmere Survey District, and being parts of
Lots 44, 45, 46, 47, and 48, D.P. 2243, and part of Bignell
Street. Bounded towards the north by the northern boundary
of Lot 47 aforesaid from its north-western corner to its
intersection with the south-western boundary of Gonville
Town District; thence towards the north-east by the said
town district boundary to the southernmost corner of Lot 44;
thence towards the south-west generally by the south-western
boundaries of Lots 44, 45, 46, the western end of Bignell
Street, and the south-western boundary of Lot 47.

Empire Day to be observed as a Holiday on King’s Birthday.

EMPIRE Day will be celebrated on Saturday, the 3rd
June, 1922, the anniversary of the birthday of His
Majesty the King, and that day will be observed as a public
holiday in the Government Offices throughout the Dominion.

Appointment of Examination-place at Auckland.

Customs Department,
Wellington, 5th May, 1922.

I, in exercise of the powers vested in me for this purpose
by the Customs Act, 1913, do by this warrant appoint that

the shed numbered 39 situated on the Western Wharf at the
Port of Auckland shall be a place for the examination of
goods subject to the control of the Customs.

Abolition of a Special Roading District.

In pursuance and exercise of the power conferred on me
by subsection (6) of section 50 of the Land Laws
Amendment Act, 1913, I do hereby declare that the
Kokakoriki Special Roading District, as constituted by a
notice published in the Gazette of the 13th day of August,
1914, is hereby abolished as from and including the 1st day
of July, 1922.

Abolition of a Special Roading District.

In pursuance and exercise of the power conferred on me
by subsection (6) of section 50 of the Land Laws

Kawautahi Special Roading District, as constituted by a
notice published in the Gazette of the 23rd day of Novem-
ber, 1916, is hereby abolished as from and including the
1st day of July, 1922.

Formation of a Defence Rifle Club.

His Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased
to accept the services of the undermentioned Defence
Rifle Club, under section 43, Defence Act, 1909 :—

South Hokianga Defence Rifle Club, with headquarters
at Waimamaku, Hokianga.

Date of acceptance, 7th April, 1922.

License to take Toheroa at Kaipara, on the West Coast of the
North Island.

WHEREAS by Orders in Council dated the 8th day of
March, 1915, and the 17th day of February, 1920,
and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 36, of the
11th day of March, 1915, and No. 21, of the 26th day of
February, 1920, respectively, regulations were made as to the
taking of toheroa for canning purposes on the west coast of
the North Island of New Zealand, providing, inter alia, that
no person, firm, or company shall take toheroa for such
purposes without a license in writing under the hand of the
Minister of Marine, and subject to the said regulations :

And whereas, pursuant to the said regulations, the appli-
cation of Messrs. Meredith Bros. and Company (Limited),
(hereinafter called “the company”) to lease Area No. 3 as
specified in the Second Schedule to the said regulations of
the 8th day of March, 1915, and hereinafter defined, has
been granted, and it is desirable to issue the necessary
license to the company to take toheroa for canning purposes
from the area mentioned :

Now, therefore, I, George James Anderson, Minister of
Marine, in exercise of the hereinbefore-recited power and
authority, do hereby license the company to take toheroa
for canning purposes from the area hereinafter defined, and
designated Area No. 3 in the Second Schedule to the said
Order in Council of the 8th day of March, 1915, subject to
the said regulations, for a period of ten years from the date
hereof.

AREA.

All that portion of the beach commencing at the northern
boundary of Glink’s Gap, Camper’s Reserve, and extending
approximately eleven miles to a point about four miles north
of Mahuta Gap and abreast of Moeatua ; but excluding
therefrom one mile of beach at Mahuta Gap, which is reserved
for persons taking toheroa for sale in the shell to the inhabi-
tants of the district. As the said area is delineated on plan
marked M.D. 4388, and deposited in the office of the Marine
Department at Wellington, the boundaries of the said area
being marked by white-painted posts bearing the words
“ No. 3 Area.”
