to be Superintendent of the National Provident Fund, for the purposes of the National Provident Fund Act, 1910 ;

WILLIAM MARCUS WRIGHT, Esq.,

to be Registrar of Friendly Societies, for the purposes of the Friendly Societies Act, 1909 ; and

ROBERT EDWARD HAYES, Esq.,

to be Assistant Secretary to the Treasury and Deputy Registrar N.Z. Consols and N.Z. Inscribed Stock ;

as from the 1st day of March, 1922.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the appointments, promotions, resignations, and transfers of the undermentioned officers of the N.Z. Staff Corps, N.Z. Army Ordnance Corps, and Territorial Force.

N.Z. STAFF CORPS.

Lieutenant A. G. Scholes is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (a). Dated 31st January, 1922.

N.Z. ARMY ORDNANCE CORPS.

Lieutenant (temp. Captain) A. E. Neilson, Unattached List (b), held the appointment of an Ordnance Officer, 3rd Class, with the temporary rank of Captain, from the 1st July, 1919, to the 14th June, 1921.

5TH (OTAGO) MOUNTED RIFLES.

2nd Lieutenant J. A. Aitcheson, from the Reserve of Officers, to be 2nd Lieutenant. Dated 17th February, 1922.

THE REGIMENT OF N.Z. ARTILLERY.

Lieutenant J. Ewan is posted to the Retired List, under the provisions of paragraph 126, General Regulations, 1913. Dated 6th February, 1922.

THE REGIMENT OF N.Z. ENGINEERS.

Northern Depot.

Laurence Frederick Rudd to be 2nd Lieutenant (on probation). Dated 8th February, 1922.

N.Z. INFANTRY.

The Auckland Regiment.

Wilfred Arthur Turley to be 2nd Lieutenant (8th C. Battalion). Dated 29th October, 1921.

Bruce Wallace Lawson to be 2nd Lieutenant (on probation), (7th C. Battalion). Dated 8th February, 1922.

Lieutenant R. Tilsley, M.C., D.C.M., from the Reserve of Officers, to be Lieutenant (1st Battalion), with seniority from 22nd April, 1920. Dated 20th February, 1922.

Lieutenant A. B. Ross is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), R.D. 1. Dated 6th February, 1922.

2nd Lieutenant G. G. Talbot is transferred to the Otago Regiment. Dated 20th February, 1922.

2nd Lieutenant (on probation) T. F. Pettman resigns his appointment. Dated 31st January, 1922.

The Wellington Regiment.

2nd Lieutenant T. L. Wilson is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), R.D. 5. Dated 17th February, 1922.

The Canterbury Regiment.

Lieutenant H. Edgar, from the Reserve of Officers, to be Lieutenant (1st Battalion), with seniority from 16th May, 1918. Dated 17th February, 1922.

The Otago Regiment.

2nd Lieutenant J. Stobo to be Lieutenant (7th C. Battalion). Dated 17th February, 1922.

2nd Lieutenant G. G. Talbot, from the Auckland Regiment, to be 2nd Lieutenant, with seniority from 8th July, 1921. Dated 20th February, 1922.

2nd Lieutenant M. G. McInnes is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), R.D. 11. Dated 17th February, 1922.

N.Z. MEDICAL CORPS.

With reference to the notice published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 43, of 5th May, 1921, relating to the posting of Captain T. W. Maben to the Retired List, for the words “Dated 5th April, 1921,” read “Dated 8th February, 1922.”

N.Z. ARMY NURSING SERVICE.

Staff Nurse (Masseuse) D. Tanner is transferred to the Reserve List. Dated 13th February, 1922.

Sister R. Lindsay is posted to the Retired List. Dated 9th March, 1922.

N.Z. CHAPLAINS DEPARTMENT.

The Reverend R. H. Blair, Chaplain, 4th Class, to be Chaplain, 3rd Class, with seniority as from the 26th February, 1922, and is transferred to the Reserve List, Class II, R.D. 11. Dated 27th February, 1922.

The Reverend F. J. Parker, Chaplain, 4th Class, is transferred to the Reserve List, Class I, R.D. 12. Dated 16th February, 1922.

The commission granted the Reverend H. Munro, Chaplain, 4th Class, is cancelled, under section 5 (a), Defence Act, 1909. Dated 8th February, 1922.

RESERVE OF OFFICERS.

The undermentioned are posted to the Retired List, under the provisions of General Headquarters Instruction No. 56/21 :—

Southern Command.

2nd Lieutenant C. E. Gilbert. Dated 18th February, 1922.

2nd Lieutenant C. A. Stringer. Dated 20th February, 1922.

Captain P. L. Orr resigns his commission. Dated 14th February, 1922.

Lieutenant G. N. Moffatt [late Unattached List (General List)] is posted to the Retired List, under the provisions of General Headquarters Instruction No. 56/21. Dated 14th February, 1922.

Lieutenant (temp. Captain) H. A. Perkins, M.M. [late Reserve of Officers (temp.)], is posted to the Retired List, with the rank of Captain, under the provisions of General Headquarters Instruction No. 56/21. Dated 8th February, 1922.

The notice published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 61, of 24th June, 1920, relating to 2nd Lieutenant F. J. Sherwood is cancelled.

2nd Lieutenant F. J. Sherwood [late Unattached List (General List)] is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), R.D. 12. Dated 15th February, 1922.

With reference to the notice appearing in the New Zealand Gazette No. 32, of 31st March, 1921, relating to the posting of Lieutenant G. B. Menzies to the Retired List, add the words “with the rank of Captain.”

ERRATUM.

With reference to the notice published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 10, of 16th February, 1922, relating to the transfer of Major C. V. Leeming, M.C., to the Reserve of Officers, for the words “The Regiment of Royal N.Z. Artillery” read “The Regiment of N.Z. Artillery.”

Discharge from the Naval Forces.
