Section 174.—Altitude, 200 ft. to 300 ft. above sea-level.
Undulating land in scrub and danthonia, all ploughable ;
suitable for fruitgrowing and poultry. Soil varies from
heavy loam to poor clay, on clay formation ; watered by
head of a swampy stream. Situated on the Silverdale—Devon-
port main road, which is metalled, and overlooks Brown’s
Bay. Access is from Albany, about two miles and a half
distant by formed road, one mile of which is metalled ; or
four miles from Takapuna by metalled road.

Section 436.—Altitude, 200 ft. to 250 ft. above sea-level.
Undulating land in scrub, all ploughable ; slopes to the
north-east ; very suitable for fruitgrowing and poultry.
Soil varies from good heavy loam to poor clay, on clay forma-
tion ; well watered by swampy stream. Situated about
thirty chains off the main Silverdale—Devonport Road between
Albany and Brown’s Bay. Access is from Albany, about
three miles distant by formed road, one mile of which is
metalled ; or from Takapuna, about three miles and three-
quarters distant, all but thirty chains of which is metalled.

Section 437.—Altitude, 200 ft. to 250 ft. above sea-level.
Level to undulating land, one-third of which is swampy, in
scrub. All ploughable and well sheltered. Suitable for fruit-
growing and mixed farming. Soil varies from good heavy
loam to poor clay, on clay formation ; well watered by
swampy creeks. Situated on the main Silverdale—Devonport
Road, and also has frontage to a formed road to Albany.
Access is from Albany, three miles distant, one mile of which
is good metalled road, balance formed clay road ; or three
miles and three-quarters from Takapuna by good metalled
road.

Section 438.—Altitude, 200 ft. to 270 ft. above sea-level.
Undulating land in danthonia grass and short fern, all plough-
able, but slopes to south-west. Soil varies from heavy loam
to poor clay, on clay formation ; watered by heads of a swampy
stream. Situated on the main Silverdale—Devonport Road
and overlooks Brown’s Bay. Access is from Albany, two
miles and a half distant by formed road, one mile of which is
metalled ; or from Takapuna, four miles by good metalled
road.

Section 439.—Altitude, 200 ft. to 250 ft. above sea-level.
Undulating land in scrub, all ploughable ; suitable for fruit-
growing and mixed farming. Soil varies from good heavy
loam to poor clay, on clay formation ; well watered by
swampy streams. Situated on the Albany—Brown’s Bay Road,
about half a mile from Silverdale—Devonport main road.
Access from Albany, three miles distant by formed road, one
mile of which is metalled ; or from Takapuna, about three
miles and three-quarters, three miles and a quarter of which
is good metalled road.

Section 440.—Altitude, 200 ft. to 250 ft. above sea-level.
Undulating land in scrub, all ploughable, suitable for fruit-
growing and mixed farming. Soil varies from heavy loam of
good quality to poor clay, on clay formation ; well watered
by swampy streams. Situated on the Albany—Brown’s Bay
Road, about half a mile from main Silverdale—Devonport
Road. Access from Albany, three miles distant, by formed
road, one mile of which is metalled ; or from Takapuna,
about three miles and three-quarters, three miles and a quarter
of which is good metalled road.

Section 441.—Altitude, 200 ft. to 300 ft. above sea-level.
Undulating to steep land in danthonia grass and short scrub,
all more or less ploughable. Soil varies from good heavy
loam to poor clay, on clay formation ; watered by swampy
stream. Situated on main Silverdale—Devonport Road, which
is metalled. Access from Takapuna, three miles and a quarter
distant, by formed road, metalled ; or from Albany, about
the same distance, one mile of road metalled, balance formed
clay road.

Section 442.—Altitude, 200 ft. to 300 ft. above sea-level.
Undulating to steep country in danthonia grass and manuka
and fern, all more or less ploughable ; northerly aspect, suit-
able for fruitgrowing. Soil varies from good loam to poor
clay, on clay formation ; watered by swampy streams.
Situated on main Silverdale—Devonport Road overlooking
Brown’s Bay. Access from Takapuna, three miles distant, by
formed and metalled road.

SECOND-CLASS LAND.

Waitemata County.—Paremoremo Parish.

Section 272 : Area, 48 acres 3 roods 23 perches ; capital
value, £75 ; half-yearly rent on lease, £1 10s.

Altitude, 100 ft. to 300 ft. above sea-level. Steep broken
land in fern, about two-thirds being ploughable. The soil is
a poor clay, resting on clay and sandstone formation ; poorly
watered by the heads of swampy gullies probably dry in sum-
mer. It is situated just off Ridge Road, about half-way
between Riverhead and Albany. The access is from Albany,
which is about three miles distant by a formed road not
metalled,

Section 273 : Area, 40 acres 3 roods ; capital value, £85
half-yearly rent on lease, £1 14s.

Altitude, 100 ft. to 300 ft. above sea-level. Undulating to
steep broken land in manuka, hakea, and fern ; all more or
less ploughable. The soil is of a poor clay, resting on clay and
sandstone formation ; watered by swampy gullies. Situated
just off the Ridge Road between Albany and Riverhead.
Access is from Albany, which is about three miles distant, by
a formed road not metalled.

Section 288 : Area, 35 acres 1 rood 22 perches ; capital
value, £100 ; half-yearly rent on lease, £2.

Altitude, 50 ft. to 200 ft. above sea-level. Undulating to
steep country in hakea, manuka, and fern, with a few scattered
Pinus insignus trees ; all more or less ploughable. This is
a very exposed section, and slopes to the west. The soil
varies from a heavy black loam of fair quality to a poor clay,
resting on clay and sandstone formation ; poorly watered by
wampy gullies probably dry in summer. Situated on the
Ridge Road between Riverhead and Albany. Access is from
Riverhead, which is about two miles and a half distant by
formed road.

Waitemata County.—Waipareira Parish.

Section 249 : Area, 12 acres 0 roods 15 perches ; capital
value, £145 ; half-yearly rent on lease, £2 18s.

Altitude, 150 ft. to 200 ft. above sea-level. Undulating
land in manuka, hakea, and fern ; all ploughable, except
2 acres of swamp, which, however, could easily be drained.
Good easterly aspect, suitable for strawberry and fruit grow-
ing. The soil varies from a heavy loam to a light clay, resting
on clay and sandstone formation ; well watered by a swamp
and swampy stream. Situated between Swanson and Hender-
son Valley. The access is from Henderson Railway-station,
which is about three miles distant, by a formed road, two
miles and a half of which is metalled.

Member appointed to Everett Road Scenic Board.

WHEREAS by a Warrant dated the twenty-eighth day
of July, one thousand nine hundred and twenty, and
published in the Gazette of the fifth day of August, one thousand
nine hundred and twenty, the control of a certain reserve in
the Taranaki Land District, known as Everett Road Scenic
Reserve, was vested in certain persons therein named, who
were by the said Warrant constituted a special Board by the
name of the Everett Road Scenic Board, in pursuance of sec-
tion thirteen of the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908 : And
whereas it is desirable that George Capper, Esquire, of Kai-
mata, should be appointed a member of the said Board, in
place of William Edward Percival, Esquire, of Inglewood,
deceased :

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of
the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of
the powers conferred on him by section thirteen of the Scenery
Preservation Act, 1908, and of all other powers and authorities
enabling him in this behalf, doth hereby appoint the said

GEORGE CAPPER

to be a member of the Everett Road Scenic Board constituted
by the Warrant dated the twenty-eighth day of July herein-
before referred to, in place of the said William Edward Percival.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-
General, this 23rd day of February, 1922.
