CANCELLING.
NOTICE is hereby given that the Registrar of Friendly
Societies has, pursuant to section 70 of the Friendly
Societies Act, 1909, by writing under his hand dated this
twentieth day of October, 1921, cancelled the registry of
Pahiatua Tent No. 56, branch of The New Zealand Central
District Independent Order of Rechabites friendly society,
Register No. 110, held at Pahiatua, on the ground that the
said branch has ceased to exist.

EDUCATION BOARD OF THE DISTRICT OF OTAGO.
NOTICE OF INTENTION TO TAKE LANDS.
NOTICE is hereby given that the Education Board of the
District of Otago has resolved and proposes to take,
under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1908, and the
amendments thereof, the lands specified in the Schedule
hereto for the purposes of a public school.
And notice is hereby further given that a plan showing the
lands required to be taken and the name of the owner and
occupier of such lands is deposited at the Board’s office,
Jetty Street, Dunedin, and is open for inspection by all
persons at all reasonable hours; and the Board calls upon
all persons affected to set forth in writing any well-grounded
objections to the taking of such lands, and to send such
writing, within forty days from the first publication of this
notice, to the Board addressed to the Secretary thereof.
SCHEDULE.
All that parcel of land, situated in the Township of Forbury,
containing one rood thirteen poles and six-tenths of a pole,
be the same a little more or less, being parts of allotments
numbered respectively Two and Three, Block Twelve, on the
plan of the said township deposited in the Lands Registry
Office at Dunedin.

NORTHERN DISTRICT.
KNOW all men by these presents, which are intended to
be enrolled in the Supreme Court of New Zealand,
that I, the undersigned HARRY ANDREW MAYHILL, of Mount
Albert, Land Salesman, whose birth is registered in the books
of the Registrar-General, under the Births and Deaths Registration Act, 1908, as Harry Andrew Meyenberg, and sometime
formerly called Henry Andrew Meyenberg, do hereby absolutely renounce and abandon the use of the said surname of
Meyenberg, and in lieu thereof assume and adopt the surname
of Mayhill; and for the purpose of evidencing such change of
name I hereby declare that I shall at all times hereafter in
all records, deeds, documents, and other writings, and in all
actions, suits, and proceedings, as well as in all dealings and
transactions, matters, and things whatsoever, and upon all
occasions, use and subscribe the said name of Mayhill as my
surname in lieu of the said surname of Meyenberg so abandoned
as aforesaid; and I therefore hereby expressly authorize and
require all persons whomsoever at all times to designate,
describe, and address me by such adopted surname of Mayhill,
only.
In witness whereof I have hereunto subscribed my Christian
name of Harry Andrew and my adopted and substituted
surname of Mayhill this 17th day of May, 1921.

CHRISTCHURCH CITY COUNCIL.
RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in
that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, the
Christchurch City Council hereby resolves as follows :—
That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other
charges on a loan of £50,000, authorized to be raised by the
Christchurch City Council, under the above-mentioned Act,
for the erection upon the land in Manchester Street formerly
occupied by the Canterbury Hall of a building containing
Council Chamber, offices, furnishings for same, and all things
necessary and incidental thereto, to be used for municipal
purposes, the said Christchurch City Council hereby makes
and levies a special rate of 5/32nds of a penny in the pound
upon the rateable value (being the unimproved value) of all
rateable property comprised within the City of Christchurch ;
and that such special rate shall be an annually recurring rate
during the currency of such loan, and be payable on the
first day of September in each and every year during the
currency of such loan, being a period of ten years, or until
the loan is fully paid off.

RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in

Christchurch City Council hereby resolves as follows :—
That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other
charges on a loan of £3,500, authorized to be raised by the
Christchurch City Council, under the above-mentioned Act,
for the purchase and improvement of a piece of land abutting
on Barrington Street, and having also a frontage to Simeon
Street, having an area of 13 acres 2 roods 21 perches, or
thereabout, for use as a pleasure-ground for the use and benefit
of the inhabitants of that part of the City of Christchurch
named by resolution of the Christchurch City Council “ Spreydon Park Special Rating Area,” the said Christchurch City
Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of 11/40ths
of a penny in the pound upon the rateable value (being the
unimproved value) of all rateable property comprised within
the said Spreydon Park Special Rating Area, the boundaries
of which special rating area are set out in the Schedule hereto ;
and that such special rate shall be an annually recurring rate
