This block is situated on the eastern side of the West Taupo County, the eastern boundary of the area extending nearly to the Waikato River. The north-eastern end of the block is about five miles above Arapuni. Access to the block may be obtained from Kikikihi, which is three miles from Te Awamutu Railway-station on the Main Trunk Railway. The northern end of the block is about twenty-five miles south-eastward from Kikikihi, and the distance to the furthest sections is about thirty-three miles. The road is formed to within a short distance of the northern boundary, and provision has been made for continuing the formation of necessary roads of access to all the sections. Access may also be obtained to the majority of the sections from Putaruru Railway-station on the Rotorua line, the distance varying from about nineteen to twenty-three miles.
The sections in Blocks III and IV comprise undulating to hilly open country, parts of which are broken by deep valleys; the land is covered with fern and tea-tree scrub, with patches of tussock and native grasses. The land in Blocks VII, VIII, XI, XII, and XV is mostly flat to easy undulating, somewhat broken in places, and partly covered with forest comprising principally tawa, matai, rimu, and a few scattered totara-trees, with a fairly thick undergrowth of supplejack, raurekau, mahoe, punga, &c. The soil is mostly of a light loamy nature mixed with pumice in parts, the whole resting on a sandstone or rhyolite formation. The open country is capable of early development, the locality generally being suitable for dairying. The bush land and areas adjacent thereto are generally of better quality. The open sections at the southern end of the block are broken, and will require considerable expenditure to develop. Most sections are well watered by streams. The altitude ranges from 350 ft. to 1,950 ft. above sea-level.
Sale posters and full particulars may be obtained at this office.
