and doth prescribe that this Order shall come into force on the date of the
first publication thereof in the New Zealand Gazette.
AMENDMENTS IN REGULATIONS.
THE GRADING OF TEACHERS.

CLAUSE 1 of the said regulations is hereby amended by the addition of
the words “ or who have previously been graded.” -
Clause 3 of the said regulations is hereby amended by the deletion
in subclause (i) of all the words after “ they may be graded in any subsequent
year only on application to the,” and by the substitution therefor of the
word “ Director ”; and by the insertion in subclause (iii), after the word
“ employed,” of the words “ in technical schools, secondary schools, or
private registered schools, or in Western Samoa or the Cook Islands, or.” -
Clause 5 of the said regulations is hereby amended by adding the
following provisos to subclause (i) :—
“ (g.) Certified teachers employed on the staff of a normal school shall
be placed in groups as follows :—
Salaries. Grading Group.
£220–£250}

£290–£310}
£300–£320} .. .. .. .. .. 4
£320–£340}
£340–£380}

“ (h.) Certified teachers who are for the time being employed in
secondary schools, technical schools, or private registered schools, or who
have not been in the employment of an Education Board for a period of
three years preceding the date of their application for grading, may be
placed in such groups as shall, on the recommendation of an Inspector of
Schools, be approved by the Director, and such grading shall be deemed a
provisional grading.”
- Clause 13 of the said regulations is hereby amended by the addition
of the following proviso :—
“ Provided that teaching service in other countries or in schools other
than public schools shall be counted to an extent that shall be determined
in each case by the Director.”

Amending the Samoan Crown Estates Order, 1920.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House at Wellington, this 4th day of
October, 1921.
Present :
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.
HIS Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New
Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the
Executive Council of that Dominion, and in pursuance of the
authority to make laws for the peace, order, and good government
of the Territory of Western Samoa conferred upon him by the
Western Samoa Order in Council, 1920, made by His Majesty on
the eleventh day of March, one thousand nine hundred and twenty,
under the Foreign Jurisdiction Act, 1890, and of all other powers
and authorities enabling him in that behalf, doth hereby order as
follows :—
Clause 8 of the Samoan Crown Estates Order, 1920, is hereby
amended as from the coming into operation of that Order by adding
the following words : “ All persons appointed pursuant to this clause
to fill any professional or clerical position shall, notwithstanding
anything in the Samoa Constitution Order as to the mode of
appointment of officers of the Samoan Public Service, be deemed to
be officers of that service.”
