CROWN LANDS NOTICES.
Timber in Wellington Land District for Sale by Tender.
District Lands and Survey Office,
Wellington, 5th October, 1921.
NOTICE is hereby given that the closing-date for the receipt of tenders for milling-timber, poles, &c., situated in Ruapehu State Forest No. 42, and more particularly described by notice published in Gazette of the 18th August, 1921, page 2170, has been extended until 12 o'clock noon on the 29th November, 1921.

Timber in Wellington Land District for Sale by Public Auction.
District Lands and Survey Office,
Wellington, 3rd October, 1921.
NOTICE is hereby given that the right to cut and remove the timber on the undermentioned land will be offered for sale by public auction at the District Lands and Survey Office, Wellington, at 2 o'clock p.m. on Thursday, 10th November, 1921, under the provisions of the Land Act, 1908, and the Timber Regulations thereunder.
SCHEDULE.
WELLINGTON LAND DISTRICT.
SECTION 5, Block XV, Manganui Survey District : Area, 195 acres 3 roods 20 perches.
Estimated quantity of superficial feet : Matai, 285,636 ; rimu, 2,855,240 ; kahikatea, 540,982 ; miro, 223,622 : total, 3,905,480 sup. ft.
Upset price : £6,000.
Time of removal : Four years.
Terms of Payment.-One-tenth of purchase-price to be deposited, together with timber license fee (£1 ls.), on the fall of the hammer, and the balance to be paid by seven equal half-yearly instalments. All instalments shall be free of interest until due date, and shall be secured by "on demand" promissory notes made and endorsed to the satisfaction of the Commissioner of Crown Lands.
CONDITIONS OF SALE.

The right to cut and remove the timber will be sold generally in accordance with the provisions of the Land Act, 1908, the Timber Regulations made thereunder, and the following conditions and such additional conditions as the Commissioner in his discretion considers necessary.

The quantities set forth in the above Schedule are approximate only, and are furnished for the information of intending purchasers, who are expected, previous to the sale, to make their own estimate of the quantity of timber on each lot. No contract for purchase shall be voidable, not shall the license be entitled to any abatement in price, by reason of the said timber being of less quantity, quality, and kind than as stated herein, nor shall any extra sum be claimed by the Crown if the quantity of timber is found to be in excess of that stated herein.

The promissory notes will be presented at intervals as indicated in the terms of payment, but they may be presented for payment at earlier dates if more than a due proportion of the timber is found to be cut, or should any breach of the conditions occur, or if in the opinion of the Commissioner the interest of the Crown is jeopardized.

The purchaser of the timber shall have no right to the use of the land.

The timber shall be cut in a face, and the Crown reserves the right to follow up the mill-workings by felling and grassing such areas as from time to time are cleared of milling-timber. Sufficient timber shall be left on each section for fencing and general farming purposes. Cutting must commence within six months of date of sale, and be continuous during the currency of the license.

The Land Board may authorize the laying-down and working of tram-lines through these lots by other persons than the licensees of the particular lots affected.

The licensee shall not put, throw, or place, or allow to be put, thrown, or placed, into any river, stream, or watercourse, or into any place where it may be washed into any river, stream, or watercourse, any sawdust or other sawmill refuse.

If the timber is unsold at auction the right to cut it at the upset price will remain open for application until further notice.

No compensation will be given, nor shall any be claimed, for any error, discrepancy, or misdescription whatever in respect of any lot or in these conditions.

All the timber, whether standing or felled or in logs, shall remain the property of the Crown until all the instalments are paid.

Should any dispute arise as to boundaries, the decision of the Commissioner of Crown Lands shall be final and conclusive.

The timber will be sold generally in accordance with the area and boundaries as shown on the sale map.
Sale plans and full particulars and copies of the Forest Regulations may be obtained at this office.

Milling-timber in Southland Land District for Sale by Tender.

Invercargill, 3rd October, 1921.
NOTICE is hereby given that written tenders for the purchase of the undermentioned milling-timber will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, Invercargill, up to 4 o'clock p.m. on Monday, 14th November, 1921, under the provisions of the Land Act, 1908, and the Timber Regulations thereunder.
SCHEDULE.
SOUTHLAND LAND DISTRICT.
Lot 1.
All the milling-timber on Section 19, Block X, Waikawa Survey District, containing 167 acres 2 roods, situated about eight miles and a half from Tokanui Railway-station.
Minimum price, £725.
It is estimated that Section 19 will produce 1,470,000 superficial feet of sawn timber, comprising 1,165,000 sup. feet of rimu, 95,000 sup. feet of white-pine, 54,000 sup. feet of miro, 31,000 sup. feet of matai, 5,000 sup. feet of totara, and 120,000 sup. feet of miscellaneous timber.
The purchaser will be granted a license to cut and remove the timber for a period of four years from the date of acceptance of tender, and will have the right to acquire as a reserve for future operations Sections 27, 26, 7, 17, and 32, Block X, Waikawa Survey District.
Lot 2.
All the milling-timber on part of Sections 6 and 7, Block XII, Waikawa Survey District, containing 222 acres, situated about five miles and three-quarters from Tokanui Railway-station.
Minimum price, £330.
It is estimated that the area will produce 662,000 superficial feet of sawn timber, comprising 628,000 sup. feet of rimu and 34,000 sup. feet of miro.
The purchaser will be granted a license to cut and remove the timber for a period of four years from date of acceptance of tender, and will have the right to acquire as a reserve area for future operations Sections 9, 10, and 11, Block X, and the remaining part of Sections 6 and 7, Block XII, Waikawa Survey District.
CONDITIONS OF SALE.
- The right to cut and remove the timber will be subject to the provisions of the Land Act, 1908, and the regulations thereunder, and to the following special conditions.
- The quantities set forth in the above Schedule are furnished for the information of intending purchasers, who are expected to make their own estimates.
- No contract shall be voidable, nor shall any purchaser be entitled to an abatement in price, by reason of the quantity of milling-timber being less than as stated herein.
- Each tender must be marked on outside "Tender for timber," and must be accompanied with a deposit of £25, which will be applied as part payment of purchase-price in the event of the tender being successful. Should the tender be unsuccessful the deposit will be returned.
- Not later than fourteen days after being notified of the acceptance of his tender the purchaser shall pay to the Receiver of Land Revenue at Invercargill one-fourth of the purchase-price, and shall give three "on demand" promissory notes for the balance. These promissory notes will be presented for payment at intervals of one year, two years, and three years from the date of the license, but they may be presented at earlier dates should it be found that more than a due proportion of the timber has been cut, or should any breach of the conditions of the license or of the regulations occur.
