Section 13, Block III, Retaruke.—Section is situated on east side of Wanganui Valley Road, and adjoining the House Boat Landing. Section comprises easy undulating country, 170 acres being in grass, manuka, and fern, balance in virgin bush. Soil is of good light loam on clay and sandstone formation. Section is well watered by permanent streams. Elevation 450 ft. to 700 ft. above sea-level. Section 18 is to be added when milling is completed. Subject to rights to do all things necessary to remove timber from Section 18 along right-of-way shown on plan.

Section 9, Block VII.—Section is situated south of Tawata Road. Access is from Mangaohuhi Landing half a mile distant. Section comprises broken country in bush, with exception of 5 acres of manuka flat. Soil is of light loam, on sandstone and papa formation. Section is well watered by permanent streams. Elevation from 450 ft. to 1,400 ft. above sea-level.

Section 26, Block XI.—Section is adjoining Wanganui River, and is situated about twenty-two miles from Tau-marunui, about twenty-four by formed and partly metalled road. Section comprises soil of light loam on papa and sandstone formation. Section is all in bush, with exception of homestead-site, which is in grass, with a large amount of fern and manuka. Section is well watered by permanent streams. Elevation from 400 ft. to 1,200 ft. above sea-level.

Millng-timber for Sale by Public Tender in the Nelson-Marlborough Forest-conservation Region.

Nelson, 28th July, 1921.

NOTICE is hereby given that written tenders for the purchase of the undermentioned milling-timber will be received at the office of the Conservator of State Forests, Nelson, up to 12 o’clock noon on Wednesday, the 24th day of August, 1921, under the provisions of the State Forests Act, 1908, and amendments, and the regulations made thereunder.


SCHEDULE.

NELSON-MARLBOROUGH CONSERVATION REGION.

All the milling-timber on that area of State forest, containing approximately 1,058 acres, situated in Block IX, Pakawau Survey District.

The quantity of milling-timber is estimated at 18,500,000 sup. feet, more or less, the proportion of each kind being approximately rimu 58 per cent., beech 32 per cent., kahikawaka 4 per cent., and miscellaneous 6 per cent.

Sale to be subject to the following rates of royalty: Rimu, 1s. 6d. per 100 sup. feet; beech, 9d. per 100 sup. feet; kahikawaka, 1s. per 100 sup. feet; totara, 4s. per 100 sup. feet; yellow-pine, 4s. per 100 sup. feet; matai, 3s. per 100 sup. feet; rata, 9d. per 100 sup. feet; kahikawaka poles, 4s. each; and yellow-pine poles, 5s. each.

In addition, the purchaser will require to pay a ground-rent of 1s. per acre, payment to be made half-yearly in advance.


CONDITIONS OF SALE.

  1. The right to cut and remove the timber will be sold in accordance with the terms of the State Forests Act, 1908, the regulations made thereunder, and on the following conditions.

  2. The quantities set forth in the above Schedule are furnished for the information of intending tenderers, who are expected, however, to visit the locality prior to the closing-date for receipt of tenders and make their own estimates.

  3. No contract to purchase shall be voidable, nor shall the licensee be entitled to any abatement in price, by reason of the said timber being of less quantity or quality and kind than as stated herein, or in any advertisement having reference to the said timber.

  4. The right is reserved to the Conservator of State Forests to withdraw from sale at any time all the timber mentioned herein.

  5. In his tender the tenderer must state the price per 100 sup. feet in the round log, or the price per pole, as the case might be, which he is prepared to pay for each species of timber; the highest or any tender will not necessarily be accepted.

  6. Each tender must be accompanied by a bond for £1,000 (with two satisfactory guarantees to be approved by the Commissioner of State Forests); and the bond of the successful tenderer will be liable to forfeiture in the event of non-fulfilment of any of the conditions of sale.

  7. All felled timber for removal from the forest will be branded and measured in the log by the Hoppus system before manufacture. A return, which must be verified by affidavit, giving the number of logs cut of each species and their contents, must be made quarterly by the licensee. Payment for the timber in accordance with this return shall be made within fourteen days after the 31st March, 30th June, 30th September, and 31st December in each and every year during the currency of the license. A return, verified by affidavit, must also be furnished on the same dates showing the output of sawn timber of each species.

  8. The successful tenderer will be granted a license to cut the timber specified herein for a period of ten years, and the right is hereby reserved to the Commissioner of State Forests to revise the royalties mentioned in the license at the expiry of five years from the date thereof. A fee of £1 1s. will be charged for the said license.

  9. Milling operations must be commenced within two years of the date of the said license. Within five years thereof not less than 5,000,000 sup. feet of timber must be cut, and during each successive year not less than 2,700,000 sup. feet must be cut.

  10. Land milled to the satisfaction of the Conservator of State Forests may be surrendered in blocks of not less than 200 acres from year to year.

I HEREBY give notice that by an order of the above-named Court dated the 21st day of July, 1921, the above-named company was ordered to be wound up by the Court under the provisions of the said Act; and I hereby call a meeting of creditors of the company to be held at my office, Government Buildings, Customs Street West, Auckland, on Monday, the 1st day of August, 1921, at 2.30 p.m.

And I further give notice that all claims against the said company must be lodged with me on or before the 21st day of September, 1921.
