Applicants must appear personally before the Land Board
for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office,
Christchurch, at 10 o'clock a.m. on Wednesday, 30th March,
1921, but if any applicant so desires he may be examined
by the Land Board of any other district.
The ballot will be held at the conclusion of the examination
of applicants.
SCHEDULE.
CANTERBURY LAND DISTRICT.—THIRD-CLASS LAND.—
NATIONAL ENDOWMENT.
Ashburton County.—Alford Survey District.
RUN 104B; Class A: Area, 3,403 acres; half-yearly rent,
£50; term, fourteen years.
All steep broken pastoral country, ranging up to about
5,000 ft. Vegetation consists mostly of native grass, with
small patches of bush. Well watered. Access by road about
ten miles from Mount Somers Railway-station. The right is
reserved, subject to reduction in rent, to grant coal-mining
leases over any portion of the run and access thereto, and also
to grant coal-prospecting licenses. The existing coal-leases
have been excluded from the area of the run, but free access
to them is reserved, and also the right to cut and remove to
the mines all timber necessary for carrying on mining operations.

Lands in Westland Mining District for License to Discharged
Soldiers.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned lands
are open for license to discharged soldiers under the
regulations for the occupation of pastoral lands in the West-
land and Karamea Mining Districts, and the Discharged
Soldiers Settlement Act, 1915; and applications will be re-
ceived at the District Lands and Survey Office, Hokitika, up
to 4 o'clock p.m. on Tuesday, 15th March, 1921.
Applicants must appear personally before the Land Board
for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office,
Hokitika, on Wednesday, 16th March, 1921, at 2.30 o'clock
p.m.
The ballot will be held at the conclusion of the examination
of applicants.
The right is reserved to the Crown to grant licenses to cut
timber and other rights and appurtenances thereto, and free
right of access must be allowed to the holders of such licenses
and their employees.
The licensee shall have no right to claim compensation
on account of any injury to stock resulting from sawmill
operations.
The lands are described for general information, but in-
tending applicants are strongly recommended to make a
personal inspection before lodging an application, as the
Department is not responsible for the accuracy of any
description.
SCHEDULE.
WESTLAND LAND DISTRICT.—WESTLAND MINING DISTRICT.—
SECOND-CLASS LAND.
CROWN LAND.
Westland County.—Karangarua Survey District.
SECTION 2453, Block II: Area, 398 acres; capital value,
£640; half-yearly rent, £12 16s.
Comprises about 65 acres open swamp, the remainder being
flat bush country carrying timber of no commercial value,
consisting of small patches of rimu and kahikatea, silver-pine,
and cabbage-trees. Soil is of a sandy nature, fair to poor,
on gravel subsoil. Altitude, 58 ft. to 84 ft. above sea-level.
Well watered. Access three miles and a half by sea-beach
and fifteen miles by formed dray-road from Bruce Bay boat-
landing.
Weighted with £3 15s., valuation for fencing.
Section 2430, Block V: Area, 505 acres; capital value,
£710; half-yearly rent, £14 4s.
Comprises about 60 acres fairly dry creek frontages and
45 acres hill siding covered with bush and heavy scrub, the
remainder being flat wet swamp. Soil is of a sandy nature,
on gravel generally, poor but fair along creeks and on siding.
Altitude, 45 ft. to 225 ft. above sea-level. Well watered.
Access three-quarters of a mile by unformed road, thirteen
miles and a half by formed dray-road, and three miles and a
half by sea-beach from Bruce Bay boat-landing.
Weighted with £21, valuation for fencing.
Grey County.—Kopara Survey District.
Section 3064, Block IX: Area, 211 acres; capital value,
£320; half-yearly rent, £6 8s.
Comprises approximately 100 acres bush land, carrying
rimu and kahikatea, from which the timber of any com-
mercial value has been cut out by sawmillers; the remainder
consists of nigger-head swamp, the whole being practically
flat, and covered with a light undergrowth of scrub and fern.
Soil is of a sandy nature, fair to good, on gravel formation.
Altitude, 380 ft. to 450 ft. above sea-level. Well watered.
Access by formed dray-road from Rotomanu Railway-station,
a distance of five miles.
Westland County.—Wataroa Survey District.
Sections 2610 and 2611 (grouped), Block VI: Area, 132
acres; capital value, £330; half-yearly rent, £6 12s.
Comprises open river-bed land, with patches of light scrub
and flax. Soil is fair to good, of a sandy loamy nature, on
gravel subsoil. Access by good metalled dray-road from
Matainui Cheese-factory and post-office, a distance of four
miles.
Owner of improvements (consisting of buildings and fenc-
ing) allowed one month from date of ballot in which to remove
them.
NATIONAL ENDOWMENT.
Grey County.—Mawheranui Survey District.
Section 2647, Block III: Area, 471 acres; capital value,
£240; half-yearly rent, £4 16s.
Comprises 66 acres silver-pine and pakihi, 18 acres old
tailings, and 30 acres burnt bush, the remainder carrying
heavy mixed bush consisting of birch and kamahi of no
commercial value, with a dense undergrowth of mixed scrub.
Soil is poor to fair, of a sandy clay nature, on gravel. Alti-
tude, 250 ft. to 300 ft. above sea-level. Well watered. Access
by good metalled dray-road from Ngahere Post-office and
Railway-station, a distance of three miles.
Weighted with £15, valuation for grassing.
Section 2649, Block II: Area, 189 acres; capital value,
£150; half-yearly rent, £3.
Comprises about 15 acres burnt country, the balance being
chiefly flat terraces and siding carrying heavy mixed bush
consisting of birch and kamahi of no commercial value,
with a dense undergrowth of mixed scrub. Soil is poor to
fair, of a sandy clay nature, on gravel formation. Altitude,
250 ft. to 300 ft. above sea-level. Well watered. Access by
good metalled road from Ngahere Post-office and Railway-
station, a distance of three miles.
IMPROVEMENTS.
The valuation for improvements on Sections 2453, 2430,
and 2647 must be paid for in cash immediately an applicant
has been declared successful.

In the matter of the Administration Act, 1908; and in the
matter of GEORGE MUNRO, of Manurewa, Contractor,
Deceased.
I HEREBY give notice that by an order of the Supreme
Court, Auckland, dated the 15th day of December,
1920, I was appointed administrator of the estate of the
above-named George Munro, deceased, and I hereby call a
meeting of creditors to be holden at my office, Government
Buildings, Customs Street West, Auckland, on Wednesday,
the 2nd day of February, 1921, at 11 a.m.
All claims against the above estate must be lodged with
me on or before the 15th day of February, 1921.
