Notice to Mariners.—No. 30 of 1921.
AUCKLAND HARBOUR.—EASTERN TIDE-DEFLECTOR.

THE Auckland Harbour Board notifies that four single pile beacons, each of which carries a fixed white light between sunset and sunrise, have been placed temporarily on the line of the new eastern tide-deflector in the following positions:
No. 1 Pile, from King's Wharf light-tower, 126½°, 4,060 ft.
No. 2 Pile, from King's Wharf light-tower, 122½°, 3,850 ft.
No. 3 Pile, from King's Wharf light-tower, 110½°, 3,440 ft.
No. 4 Pile, from King's Wharf light-tower, 100°, 2,750 ft.
The foregoing affects the following publications: Admiralty Chart No. 1970; “New Zealand Pilot,” ninth edition, page 190; “New Zealand Nautical Almanac,” 1921, page 270.

New Abridged Description.—Lt. fl. ev. 7½ secs., 141 ft. vis. 18 m.
Alteration.—The period of this flashing white light will be reduced from one minute to seven and a half seconds. The light will show, thus : Flash 0·66 sec., eclipse 6·84 secs.
Remarks.—During the work of alteration the light will temporarily have a reduced visibility of 9 miles.
Note.—No further notice will be given.
ITALY, WEST COAST, ELBA ISLAND.—FOCARDO FORT LIGHT.
INTENDED ALTERATION IN CHARACTER.
Date of Alteration.-Shortly.
Position.-Lat. 42° 45' N., long. 10° 25' E. (approx.).
New Abridged Description.—Lt. gp. fl. (3) ev. 15 secs., 105 ft., vis. 16 m.
Alteration.—The character of the light will be altered from occulting white to group flashing white showing three flashes every fifteen seconds, thus : Flash 2 secs., eclipse 1 sec.; flash 2 secs., eclipse 1 sec.; flash 2 secs., eclipse 7 secs.
Note.—No further notice will be given.

BLUFF HARBOUR.—CHANNEL ROCKS.—LIGHT-VESSEL WITHDRAWN.

THE Bluff Harbour Board notifies that the light-vessel on Channel Rocks has broken away, and will be temporarily withdrawn for repairs.
This notice refers to the light-vessel moored on the north-eastern edge of Channel Rocks, 233° 1·75 cables from the front beacon on Te Waewae Point, in June, 1920.
The foregoing affects the following publications: Admiralty Charts Nos. 2540, 2553, and 3484; “New Zealand Pilot,” ninth edition, page 465; “New Zealand Nautical Almanac,” 1921, page 386.
