Alteration of Boundaries of Poverty Bay River District, County of Cook.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS, in accordance with the provisions of section three of the River Boards Amendment Act, 1913, a majority of the ratepayers in the area described in the First Schedule hereto, situated in the County of Cook, have presented a petition to His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, praying that the lands comprised in the said area be excluded from the Poverty Bay River District as constituted under the provisions of the River Boards Act, 1908: And whereas a Commission was appointed and held inquiries, and recommended that the said area should be excluded as aforesaid from the Poverty Bay River District: And whereas it is deemed expedient to make such alterations of the boundaries of the said river district:

Now, therefore, I, John Rushworth, Viscount Jellicoe, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority contained in section fourteen of the River Boards Act, 1908, as amended by section three of the River Boards Amendment Act, 1913, and of all other powers and authorities enabling me in this behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that, as on and from the date hereof, the boundaries of the Poverty Bay River District shall be altered so as to exclude from the said district the area of land described in the said petition and in the First Schedule hereto; and do hereby proclaim and declare that as on and from the aforesaid date the boundaries of the said river district, with such alteration as herein provided for, shall be those described in the Second Schedule hereto.

FIRST SCHEDULE.

AREA TO BE EXCLUDED FROM THE POVERTY BAY RIVER DISTRICT.

All that area in the Hawke’s Bay Land District, in the Borough of Gisborne, bounded by a line commencing at the point where the eastern boundary of the Poverty Bay River District, as described in the New Zealand Gazette, 1912, page 2593, intersects the right bank of the Taruheru River, and proceeding thence south-westerly along said river district boundary to the northern boundary of Lot E of Matawhero B Block, and thence westerly, northerly, and easterly along the borough boundary as described in New Zealand Gazette, 1918, page 162, to the point of commencement.

SECOND SCHEDULE.

BOUNDARIES OF POVERTY BAY RIVER DISTRICT.

All that area in the Hawke’s Bay Land District bounded by a line commencing at the mouth of the Waipaoa River; thence along the middle of that river to its confluence with the Maraetaha River; thence along the middle of the latter river to a point in line with the middle of the road which intersects Opou Block in a northerly direction; thence to and along the middle of that road to the road which runs westerly through Aohuna and Mirimiri Blocks; thence along the middle of the last-mentioned road and its continuation through Kohangakare and Tarewa Blocks and forming the southern boundary of Rakaukaka Block to the western boundary of that block; thence along the western boundary of the said Rakaukaka Block to the middle of the road which intersects the northern part of that block; thence along the middle of that road to the junction of roads at the south-western corner of Section No. 60, Block IV, Patutahi Survey District; thence along the middle of the road forming the south-western boundaries of Sections Nos. 60, 61, and 64 to the Waikakariki Stream; thence along that stream to the south-western boundary of Repongaere No. 1 Block; thence along the south-western and north-western boundaries of that block and the south-western and north-western boundaries of Repongaere No. 5 Block to the Lavenham Road; thence to and along the middle of that road to the Waipaoa River; thence to and along the middle of that river to a point in line with the northern boundary-line of Section No. 62, Muhunga Block, in Block IX, Waimata Survey District; thence by a right line to the middle of the road forming the western boundary of the said Section No. 62; thence along the middle of that road and its continuation southwards through the Town of Ormond to the junction of roads at the north-western corner of Section No. 23 in Block I, Waimata Survey District; thence along the middle of the road forming the northern boundaries of Sections Nos. 23, 33, and 82 and the Whataupoko-Ormond Road to the junction of roads at the easternmost corner of Section No. 7, Whataupoko No. 1 Block; thence along the middle of the road forming the south-eastern boundaries of Sections Nos. 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, and 13, the eastern boundary of part of
