Declaring certain River Districts in County of Marlborough
to be a United River District, by name the Wairau River
District.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS a petition has been presented from each of
the Lower Wairau, Pukaka, Spring Creek, and
Tuamarina River Districts, signed by not less than one-third
of the ratepayers in each district, praying that the said
river districts be united and form one district, under the
provisions of section nine of the River Boards Act, 1908 :
And whereas such petitions were publicly notified and no
counter petition has been presented, and it is desirable to
give effect to the said petitions :
Now, therefore, I, John Rushworth, Viscount Jellicoe,
Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in
pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested
in me by the said River Boards Act, 1908, do hereby declare
that on and from the first day of July, one thousand nine
hundred and twenty-one, the said Lower Wairau, Pukaka,
Spring Creek, and Tuamarina River Districts shall be united
and form one district under and for the purposes of the River
Boards Act, and that the boundaries of such district shall
be those described in the Schedule hereto ; and, with the
like advice and consent, do hereby declare that the said
united district shall be called and known as “the Wairau
River District,” and the number of persons who are to
constitute the Board of such district shall be nine.
SCHEDULE.
WAIRAU RIVER DISTRICT.
ALL that area in the Marlborough Land District bounded
by a line commencing at the junction of the Wairau and
Waihopai Rivers, and proceeding thence down the Wairau
River to a point opposite the south-western corner of
Section 2, Block VII, Cloudy Bay Survey District ; thence
to that corner and along the western boundaries of Sections 2,
4B, 6, 8A, and 10, along the northern boundaries of Sections 10,
9A, and 11, along the eastern and southern boundaries of
said Section 11, Block VII aforesaid, across the Picton–
Blenheim Road, and southerly along its eastern side to the
Tuamarina Village ; thence easterly along the northern
boundaries of that village and of Sections 45, 48, 51, and 53,
Block VII aforesaid, along the north-eastern boundaries of
Sections 55, 56, 57, 58, and 6A ; thence westerly along the
northern boundary of Section 41 to a point in line with the
western boundary of Section 8 ; thence to and along that
boundary and the northern and eastern boundaries of the
said Section 8 ; thence along the north-western boundary
of Section 8A and the eastern boundaries of Sections 8A, 42,
43, 54, 3, 2A, 2B, 6, 9, and 3A, and the south-eastern
boundary of the said Section 3A to the Marukoko Stream ;
thence up that stream and along the north-eastern and north-
western boundaries of the Wairau Native Reserve to the
Wairau River ; thence down that river and along the western
shores of Upper and Chandlers Lagoons to the eastern
boundary of Section 18, Opawa ; thence along that boundary
and the southern boundaries of Sections 18, 20, 23, and 26,
parts of the southern and western boundaries of Section 27,
the southern boundaries of Sections 30, 32, 34, 36, and 38,
Opawa, to the south-western corner of the last-named section ;
thence north-westerly along a right line to the north-eastern
corner of Section 43 along the northern boundary of that
section to a public road ; thence northerly along that road
to the south-eastern corner of Allotment 47 of Section 2,
Omaka ; thence along a right line to the north-western
corner of Allotment 36 of said Section 2 ; thence northerly
along Scott and Walter Streets to Frances Street, and
westerly along Frances Street to Allotment 598 ; thence
along the south-western boundaries of Allotments 598, 597,
596, and 417 to Maxwell Road, along a right line to the
north-eastern corner of Allotment 391, and along the northern
boundaries of Allotments 391, 565, and 564, along the western
boundary of said Allotment 564 and the northern boundary
of Allotment 566 to Poynter Street ; thence along that street
to a point in line with the southern boundary of Allotment
554 ; thence to and along that boundary to Percy Street,
southerly along said Percy Street, and westerly along Dillon
Street to Section 5, Omaka, and along the eastern boundary
of that section to the south-eastern corner ; thence westerly
