no payment shall, unless already payable under the regulation hereby
revoked, be made for any part of such period which is more than
three months prior to such first mentioned day. Any officer who
performs such higher duties intermittently may, subject to the pro-
visions of the preceding subclauses and to the foregoing proviso,
include in his first period of twelve consecutive months any time
during which he has performed such higher duties from and including
the 1st day of April, 1920.
"(8.) In cases where an officer acts for a shorter period than those
mentioned in the preceding subclauses of this regulation, and where
the circumstances are shown to be of a special nature, the Commission-
sioner may authorize payment of such amount as he considers proper."

The Land and Income Tax (Annual) Act, 1920.—Income-tax
payable.
Land and Income Tax Office,
Wellington, 20th January, 1921.
BY Order in Council, made and issued by His Excellency
the Administrator of the Government in Council on
the 24th day of September, 1920, under the authority of the
above Act, it was determined that the respective duties by
way of income-tax and special war-tax, leviable under sec-
tions 3 and 4 respectively of the said Act, should be paid in
one sum on Monday, the 7th day of February, 1921, at the
office of the Commissioner of Taxes, Government Buildings,
Wellington; and, in accordance with such Order in Council,
I hereby give notice that the said duties will be payable
accordingly. Additional tax will accrue if the tax is not
paid on or before 28th February, 1921. The liability to pay
is not suspended by any objection. The tax should be paid
on or before the prescribed date, otherwise the additional
percentage accrues; any overpayment will be adjusted by
refund.
The demands will be posted from the office of the Com-
missioner of Taxes on or about 31st January, 1921.
NOTE.—IMPORTANT.—A delay of some days will take
place in the issue of the demands for the following : Indi-
viduals whose surnames commence with the letters I, J, K,
N, O, P.
In these cases a new due date—viz., 21st February, 1921—
will be fixed as provided by section 127 of the Land and
Income Tax Act, 1916. Additional tax will accrue twenty-one
days thereafter.

Mining Privilege to be struck off the Register.
In the matter of the Mining Act, 1908, and its amendments ;
and in the matter of license for special alluvial claim
numbered 693, and dated 21st April, 1904.
NOTICE is hereby given that, in accordance with the
provisions of section 30 of the Mining Amendment
Act, 1914, the mining privilege held under the license above
mentioned will, unless cause to the contrary is shown, be
struck off the Register of Mining Privileges at the expiration
of three months from the date hereof.
