  1. Allowance in Lieu of Ration.—The provisions of Article 1682, clause (j), King's Regulations and Admiralty Instructions, may be applied to ships of the New Zealand Division on all occasions of week-end leave being given.

  2. Allowance for Breadmaking.—The following allowances shall be payable for baking bread under the conditions set forth below:

  1. Allowances may, at the discretion of the Commanding Officer, be paid at the rates specified in the following scale when the ratings employed in the bakery are engaged, in addition to their ordinary duties, in making bread for issue to other ships. The number of persons in receipt of breadmaking allowance shall not exceed three for any one day, and no payment shall be made if the extra quantity baked is less than 120 lb.

  1. The vouchers for payment shall give full particulars in accordance with the above provisions.

  1. Charges for Clothing, &c.—Clothing, soap, and tobacco are to be charged for at the issuing prices current in the Imperial Navy.

  2. The establishment charges and cost of freight on clothing obtained from Victualling Yards in England or elsewhere will be borne by Naval funds.

  3. Kit-upkeep Allowance.—A free kit will be issued on entry, and an allowance for its upkeep paid at the following rates from date of entry under the regulations given below:—

As from 1st July, 1921, the rates payable in the Imperial Navy shall be substituted for the foregoing rates.

  1. In the case of ratings lent from the Royal or a Dominion Navy, kit-upkeep allowance shall be payable from the date of temporary engagement in the New Zealand Division.

  2. Kit-upkeep allowance shall not be credited during any period that deferred pay is stopped under these regulations, except during sentences of detention during which uniform is worn.

  3. Recovered deserters are not to be treated as new entries. The kit of a deserter, if not sold before his recovery, may be restored to him. If his kit has been sold he should be supplied with a reduced kit as laid down in the Uniform Regulations, to be charged against his pay.

  4. Should a man be discharged at his own request within twelve months of entry, a charge will be made against his deferred pay of £1 per month in the case of Classes I and III, and of 15s. per month in the case of Class II, for each full month of the unexpired period of twelve months.
