The usual flashing red light will be exhibited from the buoy when replaced.

Outer Harbour.—Fairway (Black Spherical) Buoy.—Referring to General Notice to Mariners, dated 20th June, 1918, page 81, notice is hereby given that on or about the 14th March this buoy will be removed for overhaul, and until returned will be replaced by a barge with a structure thereon, from which, at a height of 20 ft. above sea-level, a red flashing light will be exhibited.

EAST INDIA ISLANDS.

MAKASSAR STRAIT.—LITTLE PATERNOSTER (BALABALANGAN) ISLANDS.—CHARACTERISTICS OF LIGHT.

The light established on the north side of Balabalangan Islands shows occulting white, period 4 seconds, thus : Light 2 seconds, eclipse 2 seconds; visibility, 17 miles ; acetylene illuminant; focal height above sea - level, 142.7 ft. (43.5 meters); shown from a white iron framework 131 ft. (40 meters) in height.

Approx. position : 2° 32' 24" S., 117° 57' E.

INDIA.

WEST COAST.—BOMBAY HARBOUR.—STEAM PILOT-VESSEL ESTABLISHED.

A steam pilot-vessel of the character and construction of a trawler has been established at Bombay Harbour. This pilot-vessel will either cruise or be stationed about on a line with Malabar Point in one with Kolaba Point.

By day the pilot-vessel will display the usual pilot flag (white and red horizontal) at the main, and at night the lights presented for steam-vessels—namely, one white light at the masthead, and 8 ft. below this a red light visible all around the horizon for a distance of 2 miles.

The steam pilot-vessel is painted white with a yellow funnel.

Approx. position : 18° 51' N., 72° 51' E.

MEDITERRANEAN SEA.

GREECE.—ISLAND OF CRETE.—CAPE STAVROS.—INTENDED LIGHT.

A new light will shortly be established on Cape Stavros. This light will show 2 white flashes every 15 seconds, visible 17 miles.

Approx. position : 35° 26' N., 24° 59' E.
