Notice to make Returns of Income under the Land and Income Tax Act, 1916.

Land and Income Tax Department,
Wellington, 12th May, 1921.

NOTICE is hereby given that, in pursuance of the above Act and the regulations made thereunder, every person and company having derived income within the meaning of the said Act during the year ending 31st March, 1921, from any source or by any means which is made the subject of taxation under the said Act, is hereby required to make and furnish to me, in the prescribed form, returns of such income on or before the 1st day of June, 1921.

And further notice is hereby given that such returns shall in all cases be delivered at or forwarded to the office of the Commissioner of Taxes, in the Government Buildings at Wellington.

NOTE.—Forms of return may be obtained at any postal money-order office; they will not be sent to taxpayers from the office of the Commissioner of Taxes unless written application is made for them.

Returns of income are required to be furnished by all persons in business (including farmers). They are also required from all persons in receipt of income from salary, wages, interest, rent, annuity, or other annual payment, where such income exceeds £250 per annum. The returns are required annually from such persons notwithstanding that by reason of the special exemptions allowable by law they may not be liable to pay tax.

SPECIAL NOTE.—Any person failing to furnish a return at the prescribed time is liable to a penalty up to £100.


Exportation of Jam.

Customs Department,
Wellington, 5th May, 1921.

WITH reference to the Order in Council dated 17th November, 1919, and published in the New Zealand Gazette on the 20th idem, it is hereby notified, for public information, that the Minister of Customs has granted general permission for the exportation of jam.

Until further notice permits to export jam will not be required. It should be understood that it may be necessary to withdraw this general permission and to reimpose the embargo on jam at a later date.

Incorporated Societies Act, 1908.—Declaration by the Registrar dissolving a Society.

I, ROBERT EDWARD HAYES, Registrar of Incorporated Societies, do hereby declare that, as it has been made to appear to me that The Wellington Dramatic Club (Registered) is no longer carrying on its operations and has no assets, the aforesaid society is hereby dissolved, in pursuance of section 28 of the Incorporated Societies Act, 1908.

Mining License struck off the Register.

In the matter of the Mining Act, 1908, and its amendments; and in the matter of license for special sluicing claim numbered 693 and dated 21st April, 1904, in the name of Joseph Manzoni.

NOTICE is hereby given that the above-mentioned license has been struck off the Mining Register at the office of the Warden’s Court at Hokitika, under the provisions of section 30, subsection (4), of the Mining Amendment Act, 1914, this 5th day of May, 1921.

Appointing Thursday as the Statutory Closing-day in the Separate District of the Borough of Inglewood.

WHEREAS a poll to determine the statutory closing-day in the separate district of the Borough of Inglewood was duly taken under the authority of section 17 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, on the 27th day of April, 1921:

And whereas the Town Clerk of the separate district of the Borough of Inglewood has notified me that the majority of the votes given at such poll were in favour of the appointment of Thursday as the statutory closing-day in the separate district of the Borough of Inglewood:

Now, therefore, I, George James Anderson, Minister of Labour, in pursuance of section 17 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, as amended by section 5 of the Shops and Offices Amendment Act, 1920, do hereby appoint Thursday as the statutory closing-day in the separate district of the Borough of Inglewood as from the 16th day of May, 1921.
