That, for the purpose of providing the instalments in respect of the principal and interest and other charges on a loan of £100 (on account of ten per cent. on the original loan of £1,450), authorized to be raised by the Stratford County Council, under the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, for completing the construction of a part of the Pukengahu Road as originally proposed, the said Stratford County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of nine thirty-seconds of a penny in the pound on the rateable value of all rateable property of the Pukengahu Road £1,450 Loan Special Rating Area, comprising Subs. 10, 11, 12, 16, and 17 of Subdivision 1, Pukengahu Block; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the first day of February in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of 36½ years, or until the loan is fully paid off.

I, CHARLES CLOSE, heretofore called and known by the name of Charles Klosz (or Kloss), of Te Kauwhata, in the Provincial District of Auckland, Farmer, hereby give public notice that on the twenty-eighth day of February, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-one, I formally and absolutely renounced, relinquished, and abandoned the use of my said surname of Klosz (or Kloss), and then assumed and adopted and determined thenceforth on all occasions whatsoever to use and subscribe the name of Close instead of the said name of Klosz (or Kloss).

And I give further notice that by a deed-poll dated the twenty-eighth day of February, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-one, duly executed and attested and enrolled in the office of the Supreme Court of New Zealand at Hamilton on the fifth day of April, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-one, I formally and absolutely renounced and abandoned the said surname of Klosz (or Kloss), and declared that I had assumed and adopted and intended thenceforth upon all occasions whatsoever to use and subscribe the name of Close instead of Klosz (or Kloss), and so as to be at all times thereafter called, known, and described by the name of CLOSE exclusively.

LEGAL NOTICE.

WE, the undersigned, HENRY HALL and CHARLES PRENDERGAST KNIGHT, beg to announce that the Partnership hitherto existing between ourselves as Barristers and Solicitors under the firm or style of “Hall and Knight,” has been dissolved by mutual consent as from the 31st day of March, 1921.

We also beg to announce that we have disposed of our business to the undersigned, Mr. TOM UNIACKE RONAYNE, Solicitor, Wellington, for many years our Managing Clerk, who will practise his profession in his own name at our late offices, Panama Chambers, 37 Panama Street, Wellington.

Mr. Ronayne will collect all accounts and also discharge all liabilities of the old Partnership.

WHANGAMOMONA COUNTY COUNCIL.

RESOLUTION MAKING AND LEVYING SPECIAL RATE.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, the Whangamomona County Council hereby resolves as follows:—

That, for the purpose of providing the instalments in respect of principal and interest and also the other charges on a loan of one thousand five hundred pounds (£1,500), authorized to be raised by the Whangamomona County Council, under the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, for the purpose of metalling the portion of the Marco Road from the present end of the metal to a point on the north-western side of the Marco Road Saddle, or for so far as the money will go, the said Whangamomona County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of three and five-eighths pence (3⅝d.) in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property of the Marco Road Loan No. 2 of £1,500 Special Rating Area, comprising Sections 2 and 4, Block XII, Upper Waitara Survey District, Sections 1, 3, 4, 10, and 11, Block IX, and Sections 1, 2, and 3, Block XIII, Pouatu Survey District; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable half-yearly on the first day of January and the first day of July in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of thirty-six and a half years, or until the loan is fully paid off.

RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, the Picton Borough Council hereby resolves as follows:—

That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £10,000, authorized to be raised by the Picton Borough Council, under the above-mentioned Act, for the purpose of installing a sewerage system in the No. 2 Special Drainage Area, being the east and west portions of the town, the said Borough Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of twopence halfpenny (2½d.) in the pound upon the unimproved value of all rateable property of the said No. 2 Special Drainage Area of the Borough of Picton, bounded as follows: Commencing at the north-easternmost corner of Section 8 Sub. (Town Belt), Linkwater Survey District; thence by Sections 1069, 1068, 1067, 1066, 1065, 1064, 1063, 1062, 1061, 1060, 1058, 1057, 1056, 1055, 1054, 1053, 1052, 1051. 73 to 82, 84 to 91, 159 to 168, 170/172, 1141, 1148, 5 and 6 of 7 Sub., parts of 7 Sub. and 25 Sub., Sections 462 to 464, 459, 451, 441, 426, 422, 405, 752, 759, 1134; thence bounded by the railway to Section 982; thence by Sections 985, 983, 981, 979, 977, 975, 16 Sub., West Terrace, Sections 871, 868, 867, 866, 865, 864, 863, 862, 861, Sub. 26, Sections 583, 582, 581, part 580; thence by boundary of cemetery reserve, part 573, 572, 571, 570, 569, part of 4 Sub.; thence by Shakespere Road, Dublin Street, to the southernmost portion of Section 199; thence by Picton Harbour to Section 1132, then by Sections 24 to 30, 1001/1009, 1111 to 1118, 1120; from thence to the northern point of Section 8 Sub., bounded by Town Belt; thence along the Town Belt to the north-eastern corner of the same: and excepting thereout all that portion being No. 1 Drainage Area, as described in the New Zealand Gazette No. 77, dated the 23rd September, 1909, page 2405. And that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the 1st day of April, 1921, and each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of thirty-six and a half years, or until the loan is fully paid off.
