Districts constituted under the Marriage Act, 1908.

A PROCLAMATION.

IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in the Governor-General by the Marriage Act, 1908, I, John Rushworth, Viscount Jellicoe, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby abolish the existing marriage district known as the Lumsden District, and do proclaim and declare that the territory heretofore comprised within the said district is hereby divided anew into two marriage districts, the names and boundaries whereof shall be as follows:—

LUMSDEN DISTRICT.

ALL that area in the Southland Land District bounded towards the north by the Manapouri, Mararoa, and Burwood Survey Districts from Lake Manapouri to the Oreti River, and across that river to Windley Stream; thence towards the north-west by a right line to Eyre Peak; thence towards the east generally by a right line to the source of the Mataura River, and by that river to the northern boundary of the Hokonui Survey District; thence towards the south generally by that boundary, the eastern boundaries of Blocks II, III, and IX to the south-western corner of Section 356, Hokonui Survey District; thence along a right line to the north-eastern corner of Section 339, along the northern boundaries of that Section and Section 367 to the eastern boundary of Block VIII; thence southwards along said boundary and along the southern boundary of said Block VIII to the Oreti River, by that river and the Southland County to the north-western corner of Section 162A, Taringatura Survey District; thence by a line running due west to and across the Aparima River, and by that river to Etal Stream; thence by that stream to its source; thence by a right line to Spence Peak; thence by a right line to the source of Redcliff Creek, and by that creek to the Waiau River; and thence towards the west by the Waiau River and Lake Manapouri to Manapouri Survey District, the place of commencement.

BALFOUR DISTRICT.

All that area in the Southland Land District bounded towards the north by the Lumsden Marriage District hereinbefore described from Section 258, Hokonui Survey District, to the Mataura River; towards the east by said Mataura River to a point in line with the northern boundary of Section 511, Hokonui Survey District; thence towards the south generally by a right line to the easternmost corner of that section and by Sections 201, 563, and 202 to the westernmost corner of the last-mentioned section; thence by a right line to the road at the easternmost corner of Section 148, by that road and its continuation to the junction of roads at the northernmost corner of Section 198, by the road forming the north-western boundaries of Sections 198, 629, 628, 627, 626, and 625 to Section 50, and by that section to the Longridge Stream; thence by that stream, the Waimea Stream, and Cowan’s Creek, and along the south-eastern boundary of Section 354 to its southernmost corner; thence towards the south-west by Sections 797 and 796 and the road intersecting Sections 354, 405, and 670 and its continuation along the north-eastern boundary of Section 19, through Section 445, and along the north-eastern boundary of Section 258, Hokonui Survey District, to the Oreti River to the place of commencement.

Crown Land in Wellington Land District set apart for Disposal by way of Sale or Lease to Discharged Soldiers, under Special Tenures.

A PROCLAMATION.

IN pursuance of the power and authority conferred upon me by section four of the Discharged Soldiers Settlement Act, 1915, I, John Rushworth, Viscount Jellicoe, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim and declare that the areas of Crown land described in the Schedule hereto shall be and the same are hereby set apart and declared open for disposal by way of sale or lease to discharged soldiers, under special tenures, in the manner provided in the said Act.

SCHEDULE.

WELLINGTON LAND DISTRICT.—CROWN LAND.

SECTION 11, Block II, Hunua Survey District: Area, 209 acres 2 roods 13 perches.

Section 1, Block X, Whirinaki Survey District: Area, 425 acres 2 roods 30 perches.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand; and issued under the Seal of that Dominion, at the Government House at Wellington, this 2nd day of April, 1921.

Prison proclaimed.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand intituled the Prisons Act, 1908, it is provided that the Governor-General may, by Proclamation published in the Gazette, declare any house, building, enclosure, or place to be a prison, and from and after the gazetting of any such Proclamation, or from any time later specified in the Proclamation, such house, building, enclosure, or place shall be deemed a prison:

Now, therefore, I, John Rushworth, Viscount Jellicoe, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance of the above-recited power and authority, do hereby declare that the area of land described in the Schedule hereto, and all buildings and enclosures used or occupied thereon, shall from and after the date of the publication of this Proclamation in the Gazette, be a prison, known as the Waikune Prison, within the meaning and for the purposes of the Prisons Act, 1908.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that parcel of land in the Wellington Land District, being part of Block IV, Manganui Survey District, containing by admeasurement 79 acres, more or less. Bounded on the north by the Waimarino No. 4 Block; on the south by a branch of the Waimarino Stream; on the east by lines 3140 links bearing 166° 45′, and 2640 links bearing 21° 30′; and on the west by the Main Trunk road and railway.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand; and issued under the Seal of that Dominion, at the Government House at Wellington, this 1st day of April, 1921.

Proclaiming Native Land to be Crown Land under Section 14 of the Native Land Amendment Act, 1914.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by section fourteen of the Native Land Amendment Act, 1914, it is provided, inter alia, that on being satisfied that the purchase of any Native land has been duly completed by or on behalf of the Crown under the authority of the Native Land Act, 1909, the Governor-General may issue a Proclamation that such land has become Crown land:

And whereas the purchase of the Native land set out in the Schedule hereto has been duly completed by or on behalf of the Crown under the authority of the Native Land Act, 1909:

Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority so conferred upon me by section fourteen of the Native Land Amendment Act, 1914, I, John Rushworth, Viscount Jellicoe, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim the land set out in the Schedule hereto to be Crown land.
