Declaring Land as Scenic Reserve and Recreation-ground.
WHEREAS the Public Trustee is the executor and trustee
of the will of Charles Rooking Carter, late of Wellington, Gentleman :
And whereas by the said will, after sundry specific bequests
and legacies, the said testator set aside certain lands the
rents and profits whereof were to be applied in erecting and
establishing and maintaining a charitable institution called
“The Carterton Home for Aged Poor Men” :
And whereas by the said will directions were given for
setting up a committee of management in connection with
the said Home and its endowments :
And whereas by subsection (3) of section 43 of the Reserves
and other Lands Disposal and Public Bodies Empowering
Act, 1916, the Public Trustee, by notice in the Gazette, was
empowered to reserve and set aside as a scenic reserve and
recreation-ground an area of seventy-eight (78) acres or there-
abouts (being part of the above-mentioned land), which has
already been approved by the above-mentioned committee,
and is shown on the plan deposited in the Public Trust Office
at Wellington and numbered P.T. 6703 as Section 16 :
Now, therefore, in pursuance of the said powers conferred
upon him, the Public Trustee of the Dominion of New Zealand doth hereby declare that the above-described land is
is hereby set apart as a scenic reserve and recreation-ground
in terms of the above-mentioned section.

Education Act, 1914.—Elections of Members of the General Council of Education.

Wellington, 23rd February, 1921.
ELECTIONS of members of the General Council of
Education will be held on the 9th May, 1921. The
poll will close at 5 o’clock on that day. Ten members are to
be elected by the following eight classes of electors: Two
members by the members of the Education Boards in the
North Island, and two members by the members of the
Education Boards in the South Island; one member by
certificated male teachers of public schools in the North
Island, and one member by certificated male teachers of
public schools in the South Island; one member by male
teachers in secondary and technical schools; one member by
certificated women teachers of public schools in the North
Island, and one member by certificated women teachers of
public schools in the South Island; one member by the
women teachers of secondary and technical schools.
Nominations will be received by the Returning Officer up
till 5 p.m. on the 19th April, 1921, in the form prescribed by
regulation dated 27th February, 1915, and shown below.
No person shall be eligible for election unless he is nominated
by at least two electors entitled to vote for his election. For
every election the rolls shall be closed on 19th April, 1921,
and shall remain closed until the election is completed. If
necessary to hold an election, ballot-papers containing a
list of all the duly nominated candidates for such election
will be posted to each elector entitled to vote.

NOTICE is hereby given that the leases and licenses of the undermentioned lands having been declared forfeited
by the North Auckland Land Board, the said lands have thereby reverted to the Crown, under the provisions
of the Land Act, 1908, and the Discharged Soldiers Settlement Act, 1915.
