HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the appointments, promotions, transfers, resignations, and retirements of the undermentioned officers of the N.Z. Staff Corps, N.Z. Permanent Staff, and Territorial Force.
N.Z. STAFF CORPS.
Lieutenant (on probation) Eric Francis Joseph Reeves, M.C., is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, 5th (Wellington) Regiment, with the rank of Captain, under the provisions of General Headquarters Instructions No. 22, of 20th February, 1920. Dated 6th January, 1921.
N.Z. PERMANENT STAFF.
Honorary Lieutenant David Cecil Wallace Cossgrove is posted to the Retired List, with the rank of Captain, under the provisions of General Headquarters Instructions No. 22, of 20th February, 1920. Dated 15th January, 1921.
4TH (WAIKATO) MOUNTED RIFLES.
Major Donald Roderick Frank Campbell is transferred to the Reserve of Officers. Dated 27th January, 1921.

2nd Lieutenant (temp.) George Logan Robertson, from the “C” Battery, to be 2nd Lieutenant (temp.). Dated 18th January, 1921.

Appointment of Officers to command Military Districts.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the following appointments, to take effect from the 1st February, 1921.
COMMANDS.
Lieutenant-Colonel (temp. Colonel) Harry Rowland Potter, C.M.G., N.Z. Staff Corps, is appointed temporarily to command the Northern Military District, with headquarters at Auckland.
Colonel Charles William Melvill, C.B., C.M.G., D.S.O., N.Z. Staff Corps, is appointed to command the Central Military District, with headquarters at Palmerston North.
Colonel Robert Young, C.B., C.M.G., D.S.O., N.Z. Staff Corps, is appointed to command the Southern Military District, with headquarters at Christchurch.
R. H. RHODES, Minister of Defence.
In the matter of the Mining Act, 1908, and its amendments ; and in the matter of deed of mortgage bearing date the 30th day of June, 1915, and made between William Buchanan, George William Teasdale, and George Williamson, of the one part, and His Majesty the King of the other part, and registered in the office of the Mining Registrar at Greymouth as No. 55/15.
NOTICE is hereby given that, default having been made in the payment, performance, and observance of the principal, interest, and other moneys and the covenants and conditions which by the above-mentioned deed of mortgage the above-named William Buchanan, George William Teasdale, and George Williamson covenanted to pay, perform, and/or observe, it is the intention of His Majesty the King, acting through the Minister of Mines of the Dominion, to enforce compliance with the provisions of the Mining Act, 1908, and its amendments.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the Council of the County of Waimairi, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913.

WAIMAIRI COUNTY COUNCIL.
PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that at a poll of ratepayers in the Harewood Special Lighting Area, in the County of Waimairi, taken on the 12th day of January, 1921, on the proposal to borrow the sum of £7,000 for installing electric mains, public lamps, and other works in connection therewith in the above-mentioned area, the number of votes recorded for the proposal was 135, and the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 9.
I therefore declare the proposal carried.
