Lands in the Otago Land District forfeited.

NOTICE is hereby given that the leases of the undermentioned lands having been declared forfeited by resolution of the Otago Land Board, the said lands have thereby reverted to the Crown, under the provisions of the Land Act, 1908, and the Discharged Soldiers Settlement Act, 1915.

SCHEDULE.
OTAGO LAND DISTRICT.

SECTIONS 5s and 7s, Clifton Settlement. Tenure: Renewable lease (Sett.), Discharged Soldiers, 282 and 307. Formerly held by Robert Gordon. Reason for forfeiture: Sections abandoned.

Sections 15 and 16, Block XI, Clarendon Survey District. Tenure: Perpetual lease, Village Special Settlement, 176 and 177. Formerly held by Cairns McMurray and Robert Charles McMurray. Reason for forfeiture: Sections abandoned.

NOTICE is hereby given, in pursuance of section 32 of the Land Act, 1908, that the undermentioned land will be disposed of under section 131 of the Land Act, 1908, to the holders of the adjacent land, on and after Thursday, the 9th February, 1922.

Pastoral Run in Canterbury Land District for License.

District Lands and Survey Office,
Christchurch, 13th December, 1921.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned pastoral run is open for license for a term of fourteen years under the Land Act, 1908, and amendments.

Applications will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, Christchurch, up to 4 o'clock p.m. on Tuesday, the 31st January, 1922.

Applicants must appear personally before the Land Board for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office, Christchurch, at 10 o'clock a.m. on Wednesday, the 1st February, 1922.

The ballot will be held at the conclusion of examination of applicants.

SCHEDULE.
CANTERBURY LAND DISTRICT.—THIRD-CLASS LAND.
Ashburton County.—Alford Survey District.

RUN 104B (Class A): Area, 3,403 acres; half-yearly rent, £37 10s.

The run is weighted with £305 5s., valuation for improvements consisting of 615 chains boundary and subdivisional fencing. This must be paid for in cash.

All steep broken pastoral country, ranging up to about 5,000 ft. Vegetation consists mostly of native grass, with small patches of bush. Well watered. Access by road about ten miles from Mount Somers Railway-station. The right is

reserved, subject to reduction in rent, to grant coal-mining leases over any portion of the run, and access thereto, and also to grant coal-prospecting licenses. The existing coal leases have been excluded from the area of the run, but free access to them is reserved, and also the right to cut and remove to the mines all timber necessary for carrying on mining operations.

Land in Wellington Land District for Sale or Lease to Discharged Soldiers.

District Lands and Survey Office,
Wellington, 13th December, 1921.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned land is open for sale or lease under the Discharged Soldiers Settlement Act, 1915, and the regulations thereunder; and applications will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, Wellington, up to 4 o'clock p.m. on Tuesday, 24th day of January, 1922. The land may be purchased for cash or on deferred payments, or selected on lease for sixty-six years, with right of renewal for further successive terms of sixty-six years and a right to acquire the freehold.

Applicants must appear personally before the Land Board for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office, Wellington, at 10 o'clock a.m. on Wednesday, the 25th day of January, 1922.

The ballot will be held at the conclusion of the examination of applicants.

SCHEDULE.
WELLINGTON LAND DISTRICT.—SECOND-CLASS LAND.
Waimarino County.—Whirinaki Survey District.

SECTION 6, Block III: Area, 507 acres. Capital value, £770. Annual instalment on deferred payment (excluding interest), £38 10s. Half-yearly rent on lease, £17 6s. 6d.

Situated in the Mangapurna Valley. Access is from Raetihi Railway-station by dray-road. Distance about twenty-nine miles. Frontage to Raetihi and Ohura Roads. All in mixed bush. Altitude, 1,500 ft. to 2,100 ft. Section is watered by streams and springs. Exempt from rent till 1st January, 1925.

Timber for Sale by Public Tender.—Wellington Forest-conservation Region.

Office of the Conservator of State Forests,
Wellington, 15th December, 1921.

NOTICE is hereby given that written tenders for the purchase of the undermentioned milling-timber will close at the office of the Conservator of State Forests, Wellington, at 12 o'clock noon on Wednesday, the 18th day of January, 1922.

SCHEDULE.

AN area of 202 acres 1 rood 6 perches, being Section 2A, Raetihi Block, situated in Block III, Makotuku Survey District.

Estimated quantity in superficial feet: Rimu, 3,918,330; kahikatea, 208,600; matai, 1,063,800.

Upset price, £8,360.

TERMS OF PAYMENT.

A license fee of £1 1s. and one-twentieth of purchase price must accompany the tender, the remainder to be paid quarterly in twenty equal instalments from the date of the license.

In addition, the successful tenderer will be required to pay a ground rent of 1s. per acre; payment to be made half-yearly in advance.

All instalment-payments shall be secured by "On demand" promissory notes made and endorsed to the satisfaction of the Commissioner of State Forests, and interest at the rate of 5 per cent. per annum will be charged on all notes overdue from the date of maturity to the date of payment.

CONDITIONS OF SALE.

  1. The right to cut and remove the timber will be sold in accordance with the terms of the State Forests Act, 1908, the regulations made thereunder, and the following conditions.

  2. Intending tenderers are expected to visit the locality and to satisfy themselves in every particular on all matters relative to the sale.
