AUSTRALIA.
VICTORIA.—PORT PHILLIP.—SOUTH CHANNEL, PILE LIGHT.
—ALTERATION IN SECTOR.
Position.—Lat. 38° 20' S., long. 144° 51' E. (approx.).
Description.—An occulting light with white and red sectors.
Alteration.—The white sector, visible from the eastward,
has been reduced by 6° on the southern side, the adjoining
red sector being extended by a corresponding arc. The white
sector now shows between the bearings 272° and 280°.
SOUTH COAST.—WILSON PROMONTORY.—SOUTH-EAST POINT
LIGHT.—ARC OF VISIBILITY.
The master of the American steamer “West Camargo”
reports that South-east Point light is visible farther to the
north-westward than indicated on the chart and in the
Light List.
When approaching from Melbourne the “West Camargo”
made this light on the bearing 78°, and it showed up clearly
between Cleft and Anser Islands.
Approx. position : 39° 08' 00'' S., 146° 25' 40'' E.
NORTH-WEST COAST.—KING SOUND.—FITZROY RIVER
APPROACH.—OBSTRUCTION REPORTED.
A submerged obstruction over which there is a depth of
2½ fathoms of water is reported to exist about 2½ miles north-
westward of the northern end of Outer Rip Shoal.
NOTE.—The above depth will be encircled by a danger line
on the charts and marked with the note “Obstruction re-
ported (1921).”
Approx. position : 17° 03' 30'' S., 123° 28' 30'' E.
MALAY PENINSULA.
SINGAPORE STRAIT.—RED CLIFF BANK.—SHOAL EASTWARD.
A shoal with a least depth of 2⅔ fathoms (5 metres) exists
3·8 miles 93° from Tanah Merah Besar Summit (Large Red
Cliffs).
From the above position, which is the easternmost point of
a triangular-shaped shoal, depths of 3 fathoms (5·5 metres)
or less extend about 800 yards in north-westward and south-
westward directions.
Approx. position : 1° 21' N., 104° 02' E.
LIGHTS TO BE ESTABLISHED.
The following lights are to be established in Singapore
Strait, of which no further notice will be given :
(a.) An unwatched flashing white light every 3 seconds,
exhibited 6 ft. above the water from an iron framework
structure, off the south-eastern extremity of Pulo Ketam.
Position : 1° 23' 52'' N., 103° 57' 25'' E.
(b.) An unwatched flashing white light every 3 seconds,
exhibited 6 ft. above the water, from an iron framework
structure, off the western extremity of Pulo Ubin.
Position : 1° 25' 18'' N., 103° 55' 30'' E.
(c.) An unwatched flashing white light every 3 seconds,
exhibited 6 ft. above the water, from an iron framework
structure, 0·5 mile eastward of the southern extremity of
Kitch Bongsu.
Position : 1° 26' 20'' N., 103° 52' 22'' E.
(d.) An unwatched flashing white light every 3 seconds,
exhibited 6 ft. above the water, from an iron framework
structure, on the northern side of the strait between Sungi
Lunchu and Sungi Sinibong.
Position : 1° 29' 00'' N., 103° 49' 38'' E.
EAST INDIA ISLANDS.
THE MOLUKKAS.—MISOL (MISOOL) ISLAND.—SHOALS
NORTHWARD.
The following shoals have been discovered northward of
Misol (Misool) Island, the bearings being from the centre of
Nusel (Musel) Island :
(a.) A shoal with a least depth of 2 fathoms (3·5 metres)
7,218 yards (6,600 metres) 7°.
(b.) A shoal with a least depth of 4 fathoms (7·25 metres)
10,335 yards (9,450 metres) 177°.
(c.) A reef which dries at low water 5,905 yards (5,400
metres) 213°.
(d.) A shoal with a least depth of 4 fathoms (7·25 metres)
18,865 yards (17,250 metres) 254°.
(e.) A shoal with a least depth of 2 fathoms (3·5 metres)
14,430 yards (13,500 metres) 257°.
(f.) A shoal with a least depth of ½ fathom (½ metre)
9,750 yards (8,925 metres) 270°.
(g.) A shoal with a least depth of 2 fathoms (3·5 metres)
12,550 yards (11,475 metres) 270°.
(h.) A shoal with a least depth of 1·5 fathoms (2·75 metres)
11,237 yards (10,275 metres) 274°.
(i.) A shoal with a least depth of 2 fathoms (3·5 metres)
13,282 yards (12,150 metres) 274°.
(j.) A shoal with a least depth of 1·5 fathoms (2·75 metres)
1,886 yards (1,725 metres) 278°.
(k.) A shoal with a least depth of 1·5 fathoms (2·75 metres)
5,905 yards (5,400 metres) 315°.
The coast reef at the south side of Gam Islet extends one
mile to seaward.
Stocks of Flour, Wheat, and Oats.
THE usual Census of stocks of flour, wheat, and oats in the Dominion was taken as at the 30th November last, and the
results are tabulated hereunder. Returns were received covering all stocks owned or stored by millers, merchants, and
farmers throughout the Dominion, with a few unimportant exceptions which would not appreciably affect the totals given.
