Declaring Crown Lands in the Karamea and Westland Mining Districts, Nelson Land District, open for Disposal on Renewable Lease.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by section one hundred and thirty-three of the Land Act, 1908, it is enacted that the Governor-General, by Proclamation, may from time to time declare any Crown lands within any mining district not held under lease or license, or for which a lease or license has been cancelled, to be open for disposal, as provided in section one hundred and thirty-five of the said Act:
Now, therefore, I, John Rushworth, Viscount Jellicoe, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in exercise of the power and authority conferred upon me by section one hundred and thirty-three of the said Act, and of every other power and authority in anywise enabling me in this behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the sections of land described in the Schedule hereto shall be open on Tuesday, the twenty-eighth day of February, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-two, for disposal on renewable lease, as provided in section one hundred and thirty-five of the said Act; and I do also declare that, for the purposes of section one hundred and twenty-seven of the said Act, the sections of land described in the said Schedule hereto shall be deemed to be “heavy-bush land.”
And I do hereby provide that, after the first half-year’s rent has been paid by the selector, the further instalments of rent payable by him for a period of four years shall not be demanded; provided that if at any time during the first five years of his occupancy the selector disposes of his interest in the land the rent so conceded shall be paid by him in full, and thereupon the Land Board may remit such instalments of rent payable by the incoming tenant, not exceeding in the aggregate the amount of rent previously conceded to the selector, as the Board thinks fit.

SCHEDULE.
Heavy-bush Land.—Exempt from Rent for Four Years.
KARAMEA MINING DISTRICT.—NATIONAL ENDOWMENT.—SECOND-CLASS LAND.
Buller County.—Oparara Survey District.
Section 6, Block I: Area, 344 acres; capital value, £220; half-yearly rent, £4 8s.
Situated north of Karamea Settlement on sea-coast. Access is from Karamea, nine miles along the beach; nine miles from Karamea Post-office, and ten miles from butter-factory. All hilly bush land rising from sea-coast in steep faces back to broken country. Soil fair quality, on granite formation. Heavy bush, birch, rimu, and rata; fair undergrowth, broadleaf, kamahi, birch, &c., of no commercial value. Well watered by creeks. Elevation 1,500 ft. above sea-level.
Buller County.—Kongahu Survey District.
Section 4, Block VI: Area, 446 acres; capital value, £280; half-yearly rent, £5 12s.
Broken country, ranging from easy to steep slopes, on limestone and papa formation; all forest, consisting of brown, silver, and red birch, with a few rimu. Undergrowth of supplejack, kiekie, punga, &c. Soil good. Section suitable for sheep and a few cattle. Fronts main Karamea-Mokihinui Road, four miles from Corbyvale telephone office and fifteen miles from railway.
WESTLAND MINING DISTRICT.—NATIONAL ENDOWMENT.—THIRD-CLASS LAND.
Murchison County.—Maruia Survey District.
Section 8, Block XVI: Area, 779 acres; capital value, £430; half-yearly rent, £8 12s.
About twenty-one miles from Murchison, in Maruia Valley, seven miles from post-office and eight miles from school. Access seventeen miles by good formed and metalled road, thence about four miles up Pea Soup Creek; no road, but passable for horse traffic. Small flats along Ruffe’s Creek, remainder undulating and hillside, all forestclad. Soil fair loam near creek, inferior on hill, sandstone and granite formation. Medium bush, principally mixed birch, with little matai; undergrowth of birch scrub and broadleaf. Well watered. General quality fair. Altitude, 850 ft. to 2,780 ft. above sea-level.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand; and issued under the Seal of that Dominion, at the Government House at Wellington, this 3rd day of December, 1921.

Land taken for the Purposes of a Road in Block VIII, Tokomaru Survey District, Waiapu County.

A PROCLAMATION.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by the Public Works Act, 1908, and of every other power and authority in anywise enabling me in this behalf, I, John Rushworth, Viscount Jellicoe, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim and declare that the land described in the Schedule hereto is hereby taken for the purposes of a road; and I do also declare that this Proclamation shall take effect on and after the twenty-first day of January, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-two.

In the Hawke’s Bay Land District; as the same are more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 53285, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon coloured as above mentioned.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand; and issued under the Seal of that Dominion, at the Government House at Wellington, this 8th day of December, 1921.

A PROCLAMATION.
IN pursuance of the power and authority conferred upon me by section four of the Discharged Soldiers Settlement Act, 1915, I, John Rushworth, Viscount Jellicoe, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim and declare that the area of Crown land described in the Schedule hereto shall be and the same is hereby set apart and declared open for disposal by way of sale or lease to discharged soldiers, under special tenures, in the manner provided in the said Act.
