Lands in Hawke’s Bay Land District forfeited.

NOTICE is hereby given that the lease of the undermentioned land having been declared forfeited by resolution of the Hawke’s Bay Land Board, the said lands have thereby reverted to the Crown, under the provisions of the Land Act, 1908, and the Discharged Soldiers Settlement Act, 1915.

Small Grazing-runs in Hawke’s Bay Land District open for Selection by Discharged Soldiers.

District Lands and Survey Office,
Napier, 29th November, 1920.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned small grazing-runs are open for selection by discharged soldiers under the provisions of the Land Act, 1908, and the Discharged Soldiers Settlement Act, 1915, and amendments; and applications will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, Napier, up to 4 o’clock p.m. on Tuesday, the 11th day of January, 1921.

Applicants must appear personally before the Land Board for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office, Napier, on Thursday, the 13th day of January, 1921, at 10 o’clock a.m.

The ballot will be held at the District Lands and Survey Office, Napier, at the conclusion of the examination of applicants.

SCHEDULE.

HAWKE’S BAY LAND DISTRICT.—SECOND-CLASS LAND.

Hawke’s Bay County.—Puketapu Survey District.

SMALL Grazing-runs 104 and 105: Area, 6,873 acres; capital value, £10,320; renewable lease, half-yearly rent, £129.

Altitude runs from 400 ft. to 1,600 ft. above sea-level. The country varies from undulating to hilly and broken, intersected in places by deep gorges; flats along the Esk River, Ohurakura Stream, and Old Taupo Road. Country generally is covered with manuka scrub, fern, and tutu, with small patches of light bush, and is suitable for pastoral purposes only. About 300 acres have been burnt and grassed. Light pumice soil. Contains a good homestead-site. Well watered. Distant twenty-eight miles from Napier by a fair motor-road.

Lands in Taranaki Land District for Lease by Public Auction.

District Lands and Survey Office,
New Plymouth, 29th November, 1920.

NOTICE is hereby given that the lands described in the Schedule hereto will be offered for lease by public auction at the District Lands and Survey Office, New Plymouth, at 11.30 o’clock a.m. on Wednesday, 26th January, 1921, under the provisions of the Land Act, 1908, and amendments.

SCHEDULE.

TARANAKI LAND DISTRICT.—CROWN LAND.

SECTION 25, Block XII, Mapara Survey District: Area, 2 acres; term of lease, five years; upset annual rent, £1. Flat land, in bush.

Section 10, Block XVI, Pouatu Survey District: Area, 22 acres; term of lease, five years; upset annual rent, £9. Land felled and grassed.

Sections 7, 8, and 9, Puniwhakau Village: Area, 3 roods; term of lease, five years; upset annual rent, £1. Level land, in grass.

ABSTRACT OF TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF LEASE.

  1. Six months’ rent, together with £1 1s. lease fee, must be paid on the fall of the hammer.

  2. There are no restrictions or limitations as to the number of sections which one person may lease, and no declaration is required. Residence is not compulsory. No compensation shall be claimed by the lessee, nor shall any be allowed by the Government, on account of any improvements effected by the lessee, but improvements may be removed on termination of lease.

  3. The leases shall be for the term of years specified, without right of renewal, but shall be subject to termination by twelve months’ notice in the event of the land being required by the Government.

  4. The rent shall be payable half-yearly in advance.

  5. The lessee shall have no right to sublet, transfer, or otherwise dispose of the land comprised in the lease, except with the written consent of the Commissioner of Crown Lands first had and obtained.

  6. The land shall not be cropped nor broken up, except with the written consent of the Commissioner of Crown Lands first had and obtained.

  7. The lessee shall prevent the growth and spread of gorse, broom, and sweetbrier on the land comprised in the lease; and he shall with all reasonable despatch remove, or cause to be removed, all gorse, sweetbrier, broom, or other noxious weeds or plants as may be directed by the Commissioner of Crown Lands.

  8. The lease shall be liable to forfeiture if the lessee fails to fulfil any of the conditions of the said lease within twenty-one days after the date on which the same ought to be fulfilled.

Possession will be given on day of sale.

The lands are described for the general information of intending bidders, who are recommended, nevertheless, to make a personal inspection, as the Department is not responsible for the absolute accuracy of any description.

Sale of Shingle and Sand at Palmer Head.

District Lands and Survey Office,
Wellington, 2nd December, 1920.

NOTICE is hereby given that a license under section 307 of the Land Act, 1908, to remove shingle and sand from the land known as the Military Reserve at Palmer Head, at the eastern end of Lyall Bay, will be offered for sale by public auction at this office at 2 o’clock p.m. on Thursday, 23rd December, 1920.

The areas from which the material may be taken are shown on the official map.

ABSTRACT OF CONDITIONS OF LICENSE.

  1. Term of license, two years from 1st January, 1921.

  2. Royalty, 2s. 6d. a cubic yard.

  3. No material to be taken from below high-water mark or from outside the areas shown on the official map.

  4. Licensee to furnish a declaration on the first day of each month regarding the amount of material removed for the preceding month, such declaration to be accompanied by the amount of the royalty payable.

  5. £20 to be deposited as a guarantee that the conditions of the license will be observed.

  6. Licensees books to be available for inspection by Crown Lands Ranger, under whose supervision the material will be removed.

  7. License will be liable to cancellation for breach of the conditions thereof.

The official map mentioned above may be inspected at this office.
