In the matter of the Companies Act, 1908; and in the matter of the HAWERA BACON COMPANY (LIMITED).
NOTICE is hereby given that a special resolution was passed at an extraordinary general meeting of the above-named company held on 7th day of October, 1920, and confirmed at a subsequent general meeting held on the 29th day of October, 1920, whereby it was resolved that the company go into voluntary liquidation for the purpose of disposing of the whole of its assets and distributing the proceeds thereof amongst the members of the company; and that HENRY ARTHUR LENNON, of Hawera, Accountant, be appointed Liquidator for the purpose of such winding-up.

I, CHARLES ALFRED FURNESS, heretofore called and known by the name of Charles Alfred Bryenton, of Christchurch, in the Provincial District of Canterbury and Dominion of New Zealand, Steward, do hereby give public notice that on the 11th day of September, 1920, I formally and absolutely renounced, relinquished, and abandoned the use of my said surname "Bryenton," and then assumed and adopted and determined thenceforth on all occasions whatsoever to use and subscribe the name of "Furness" instead of the said name of "Bryenton." And I give further notice that by a deed-poll dated the 11th day of September, 1920, duly executed and attested, I formally and absolutely renounced and abandoned the said surname of "Bryenton," and declared that I had assumed and adopted and intended thenceforth upon all occasions whatsoever to use and subscribe the name of "Charles Alfred Furness" instead of "Charles Alfred Bryenton," and so as to be at all times thereafter called, known, and described by the name of "Charles Alfred Furness" exclusively.

CHRISTCHURCH CITY COUNCIL.
RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1913, the Christchurch City Council hereby resolves as follows:—
That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of seventeen thousand pounds (£17,000), authorized to be raised by the Christchurch City Council, under the above-mentioned Act, for the purpose of the construction of waterworks for the supply of pure water (and for all things necessary and incidental thereto) for the use of the inhabitants of that part of the City of Christchurch named by resolution of the Christchurch City Council "North Linwood and Avonside Water-supply Loan Special Rating Area," the said Christchurch City Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of twopence and sixty-seven five-hundred-and-twelfths of a penny (2d. and 67/512d.) in the pound upon the rateable value (being the unimproved value) of all rateable property comprised within the said "North Linwood and Avonside Water-supply Loan Special Rating Area," the boundaries of which said part are set out in the Schedule hereto; and that such special rate shall be an annually recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the 31st day of July in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of 36½ years, or until the loan is fully paid off.
SCHEDULE REFERRED TO ABOVE.
All that area in the City of Christchurch commencing at a point on the right bank of the River Avon opposite Linwood Avenue, thence along the right bank of the said river to Kerr's Road, thence southerly along the western side of Kerr's Road and New Brighton Road to Buckley's Road, thence southerly along the north-western side of Buckley's Road to Linwood Avenue, and thence north-westerly along the north-eastern side of Linwood Avenue to the commencing-point.

WESTLAND COUNTY COUNCIL.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1913, the Westland County Council hereby resolves as follows:—
That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £450, authorized to be raised by the Westland County Council, under the above-mentioned Act, for Petersen Road extension, Inter-Wanganui District, the said Westland County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of one penny and three-sixteenths of a penny upon the rateable value of all rateable property of the special rating area comprising Sections 901, 902, 2250, Block I, Poerua S.D.; Sections 2829, 2830, M.O.L. 806, M.O.L. 1576, Block IV, Wataroa S.D.; Sections 2248, 2252, 2255, M.O.L. 672, Block IV, Wanganui S.D. And that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the 1st day of October in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of fifteen years, or until the loan is fully paid off.
In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1913, the Westland County Council hereby resolves as follows:—
That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £750, authorized to be raised by the Westland County Council, under the above-mentioned Act, for Petersen Road further extension, Inter-Wanganui District, the said Westland County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of one penny and fifteen-sixteenths of a penny upon the rateable value of all rateable property of the special rating area comprising Sections 901, 902, 2250, Block I, Poerua S.D.; Sections 2829, 2830, M.O.L. 860, M.O.L. 1576, Block IV, Wataroa S.D.; Sections 2248, 2252, 2255, M.O.L. 672, Block IV, Wanganui S.D. And that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the 1st day of October in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of fifteen years, or until the loan is fully paid off.
In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1913, the Westland County Council hereby resolves as follows:—
That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £405, authorized to be raised by the Westland County Council, under the above-mentioned Act, for La Fontaine Creek Clearing, Inter-Wanganui District, the said Westland County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of seven-sixteenths of a penny upon the rateable value of all rateable property of the special rating area comprising Lot 1 of Section 169, parts 169, 2247, 2246, 2250, 2254, 2257, 901, 902, 2251, 146, 2256, 2260, 2259, M.O.L. 1404, Block I, Poerua S.D. And that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the 1st day of October in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of fifteen years, or until the loan is fully paid off.

OROUA COUNTY COUNCIL.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Counties Act, 1908, and the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1913, the Oroua County Council hereby resolves as follows:—
That, for the purpose of providing interest and other charges on a loan of £500, authorized to be raised by the above-mentioned Acts, for the purpose of completing the formation and gravelling of Raukawa Road, the said Oroua County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of 4/9ths of a penny in the pound upon the rateable value (on the basis of capital value) of all rateable property within the Raukawa Road Special Rating District, comprising Lots 4 and 5 of Secs. 455 and 455A, and Lot 6 of Sec. 455, Block III, Kairanga S.D., and Sec. 457 and Lots 1, 2, and 3 of Sec. 456, Block III, Gorge S.D.; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the first day of April in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of 36½ years, or until the loan is fully paid off.
It is the intention to pay out of the said loan the cost of raising same.

NORTHERN COAL COMPANY (LIMITED).
NOTICE is hereby given that the following special resolution was passed at a meeting of shareholders of the Northern Coal Company (Limited) held on the twenty-seventh day of September, 1920, and was duly confirmed at a meeting of shareholders of the company held on the eighteenth day of October, 1920:—
"That the Northern Coal Company (Limited) be wound up voluntarily."
At the meeting held on the eighteenth day of October, 1920, it was further resolved that WILLIAM DOUTHWAITE HOLGATE be appointed Liquidator of the company for the purpose of winding up.
